OOC EXPEDITION RULES
General SummaryExpeditions begin May 16th at noon CDT. There will be a separate forum created for these threads to take place, in which each group will have their own thread. Group members will be given a multiple choice option by the event announcer account. Group members will then be given 3 OOC days to react and come to a decision. The decision will move them forward (or backward) on the trail.
Event AnnouncerYou've all probably already checked it out by now, but this account is the one who will be posting the options for each group. Characters are to react to it as if they are noticing these options themselves,
not as if there is some magical external omniscient being guiding them along.
Group Member Decisions and InteractionsThere is no posting order and not all members have to participate in group decisions.
Groups get 3 OOC days to come to a decision.
Characters can post as many times as they want (not in a row, as it should be realistic and read like a regular RP thread) within the 3 day timespan.
It is not required that every group member post in each round - if the character doesn't respond, it will be assumed that they did not voice their opinions and agreed with the decision that was made.
If a character does not voice their opinion for 3 decision in a row, the event announcer will declare them injured and send them back to Hogsmeade.
At certain points, groups will be given a chance to rest, camp for the night, eat, recover from injuries, etc. in which characters will have more freedom to interact with each other. They're free to have discussions other than coming to a decision if they happen to agree on a decision early.
If a decision is not made by the end of the three days/if the vote is even, the event announcer will pick an option by the pull of a hat and/or coin flip.
RealismPlease make sure your characters' abilities while on the trail are realistic to their age, social class, education/occupation and magical abilities. A first year is entirely unlikely to be able to tackle a difficult task by herself, while an old woman would have difficulty climbing trees. If your characters react beyond what the staff believes their realistic abilites to be, the event announcer will react accordingly (an injury or negative event is more likely to happen.) Likewise, choices made by the characters should be made by the
characters not by their players and what their players think is the right answer. Be true to your characters. ;]
Starting the ExpeditionIt will be implied that groups meet the morning of the 16th (which was a Tuesday) at the Ministry. They check in, are each given standard supplies (for a list of the supplies given see below), an owl in order to communicate with the Ministry given to the first person to arrive (the first person to post a response to their thread), as well as a map that will update itself once parts of the map have been thoroughly discovered by that group as well as the other groups (link to said map will be in the event announcer signature as well as the standard map thread in the Aquaint Yourself forum). Characters are able to bring other supplies if they are easily taken along and can afford them.
The first choice will be offered to groups right outside the Ministry's front door on High Street.

Returning HomeCharacters can only apparate home if they are injured (injuries will happen through the event announcer). Characters
can injure themselves on purpose, but it will have to be a large enough injury that they won't be able to continue. They will be offered to go home at certain points throughout the trail as well, though they won't receive land or money. If they do leave their group, they will not be able to return to it.
QuestionsIf you have any questions at all about how this will work, please post a response to this thread.
