The day was beauteous. The sun overhead was gently bearing upon each leaf and each flower, alerting Kitty that she ought to be basking in the gloriousness of the day rather than dwelling on melancholy thoughts; but how could she find pleasure in the late spring sunshine when she was in such a compromising position? Such a situation as the one she found herself in was one that involved quite a bit of thorough thinking, decision-making, and responsibility. At the thought of responsibility, Kitty picked a red rose from a nearby rosebush, and closed her eyes as she stroked the soft, red petals. Being responsible would have been refusing Nick’s offer of a drink on the night they snuck out of the castle to join the partygoers in their festivities in Hogsmeade. Being responsible meant not succumbing to his charms and falling for his remarks of how beautiful she was and how she was his…all his. Being responsible meant not checking into a nearby motel and sleeping with him. Thus, each of the irresponsible actions she committed that night resulted in her becoming with impregnated.
As these thoughts swarmed her consciousness, Kitty sighed and swerved around a corner, the ends of her maroon gown swishing and rustling as she did so. How could she have been so stupid?! How could she have gotten herself with child when she was obviously still a child herself? How was she supposed to act towards a child, let alone care for it? She was so unprepared for all of this…so unprepared for motherhood. If she was a little wiser, a graduate of Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry, and properly married and situated in life, then she would have no qualms welcoming her child into the world; but as this child was conceived before all of those requirements were to occur, she was dreading the moment of when she would give birth. Try as she might, she could but recognize the child as a burden depriving her of all of her pleasures and desires for the future. Removing her right hand from stroking the rose’s petals, she laid it against her (mostly) flat abdomen, and mentally thought to her child, Oh baby, your arrival in my life could not be more inconvenient. If I were more prepared, you would be the highlight of my life, but at the moment, you are nothing but a burden that I cannot rid of for another seven months.
Kitty let her hand fall to her side as she continued her stroll of the gardens. Sunday was the particular day out of the seven days of the week that most students seem to take refuge in the library to finish late or expectant homework due on Mondays. For Kitty, however, she found such activities as finishing her homework tedious and tiresome, but with the thought of upholding her position as Prefect, she endures the amount of homework and begins and finishes them before the weekend. Even at the present, she and her family are all in astonishment at her having received a Prefect’s badge in her letter over a year ago, but she has finally gotten used to the title and attempted to be mature and responsible. Kitty once again stopped in her tracks and closed her eyes at the little word (though it seems to be a major burden weighed down upon her shoulders) ‘responsibility’. She has yet to come to terms with the fact that she has failed responsibility, and has yet to learn that there were many levels of responsibilities that she has yet to commit a failure in.
Though it felt as if the world weighed heavily upon her shoulders, Kitty was not aware of how fortunate she truly is. She possessed brothers whom would defend and protect her; an older sister to latch onto when she needed it (and when she was positive that Maud would not faint from distress or astonishment); a father whom encouraged her bold and vivacious side, and a sister-in-law willing to assist and support her through the duration of her pregnancy and even beyond. Coming to a halt in front of a large, sculpted fountain with clear water shooting out from the carved angels whom were holding a circular object which appeared like bowls, Kitty stared down at the rose between her fingers and began plucking them, each with a wish for how the future would occur. The first soft, red petal fell into the clear, liquid water as she whispered to herself softly, “I desire for Jed and Josephine to adopt my baby. There is no other couple I can fully put my trust in to care, cherish, and love my baby.”

You say I've got a bad attitude
You got yourself a load of trouble now You got yourself a bad deal
Maxim had no idea what he should do with himself. He was epically bored and had no idea what to do with himself or his free time. Everyone seemed to be either busy or paired up with someone and gone Merlin knows where. So he was left alone. Poor boy, lack of company made him irritated, because he actually disliked silence.
For him silence meant that something bad happened, something terrible. He remembered the silence in his house after his sisters murder. It was a sign that an awful event took place. That was how his family dealt with things. They silently mourned and took vengeance. Maximillian wasn't like that. He was always verbal with his feelings and thoughts. Silent treatment wasn't for him, he was simply unable to do that. He didn't want to be like everyone else in his family. A cold man, whose good with handling things like politics. Like his brother, who was very proud of being an assistant head with ambitions to be a Minister of Magic. Maxim never, ever wanted that position, though some people assumed that one day he'll be a wealthy politician like his father was. It was something he tried to avoid.
Sighing heavily, Maxim left the school building and headed to the grounds. The weather was warm, it was May after all. The birds were singing, flowers blooming, but he couldn't be happy. He was drafted. In two days, he would leave and venture into unknown. He did not want to die. He doubted he could make it out alive...
Oh. That’s sweet. Little Maximilian has doubts about himself. Wait a sec… Aren’t you a tad too old for that?
He heard a sarcastic voice belonging to Gabriel. Once again he showed up in the most inappropriate time. Maxim thought that he seriously should consider t doing something with it, because hearing voices wasn’t a normal thing. Sighing heavily he continued his walk around the gardens in the castle. Was he crazy? Or just going through a tough time? Should he ask Gabriel for help? Probably not, he would just laugh at him… If he’d ask Ellory she would be all concerned, and he did not want anyone to worry about him.
You need more friends, lonely boy.
Once again he heard Gabriel’s voice. Why couldn’t he just switch it off ?
Let me answer you why – because I’m your conscience.
A smirk appeared on Maximilian’s lips. Gabriel as his conscience… This thought was just ridiculous considering the fact that Gabriel himself was the most immoral person he had ever met. Seducing young girls when nobody was looking and telling stories about how much he misses his late wife… Yeah, his brother was a great actor. He fooled many people. He and his new wife will be really worthy of each other. She hid a husband from everyone and Gabriel pretended to be a sad widower. Of course, Maxim did not know the woman well enough to pass judgment, but he felt that she is just like his brother. The opportunity that the trail brought was simply too much for Maxim to turn it down, even if he could. Of course, he feared death, but it was a normal part of life.
While walking, he saw Kitty, a friend from Gryffindor, year younger. He had been crushing on her lately, but somehow felt he has no chance with her. They were always friendly to each other, though. So the boy decided to sneak behind his friend's back and scare her. Only, when he stood behind her and meant to shriek or something he heard the most peculiar words, whispered quietly:
”“I desire for Jed and Josephine to adopt my baby. There is no other couple I can fully put my trust in to care, cherish, and love my baby.”
”Kitty...” He said, quietly, softly. ”Are you...?” He asked looking around if no one can overhear them while waiting for her to turn around and answer.

Kitty’s spine stiffened as fear tore through her being at a familiar sounding (and apparently male) voice from behind her. Damn it!, she thought, furious with herself for neglected to be more discreet with her words. Despite being thoroughly ashamed at her newfound secret having been discovered so early, Kitty bravely and cautiously turned around only to be met with the blue, curiosity-filled orbs of one of her friends, Mr. Maximilian de Winter. She and Maxim had been friends since her second year and he in his third when she had nearly fallen off her broom when she had been attempting a complicated move. She never did master the complicated Quidditch move, but she and Maxim still possessed a friendship based upon it.
A million excuses ran through Kitty’s mind as she stared at him, his lean and attractive figure standing expectantly in front of her, informing her that she could trust him; but could she really? She and Maxim had been friends for nearly five years, but was he truly as trustworthy as he confessed himself to be? There must be a reason he why he landed in Slytherin in the first place, right? Then Kitty felt ashamed of herself. She had been underestimating the trust of a friend that she has been acquainted with for years, and to be honest, since her fifth year she had began to fancy him slightly; but of course, Quinn had still been the object of Kitty’s desire and it was only briefly in passing when she would acknowledge how attractive Maxim was or how blue his eyes were.
After inhaling and exhaling a few times to calm her frenzied nerves, she attempted a nonchalant smile and inquired, teasingly, “Am I what, Maxim? Am I well? Indeed, I am.” With that she left it, intent on steering him in another direction entirely than the path that his thoughts had taken.

You say I've got a bad attitude

Maxim was worried. Kitty did not seem to be fully herself lately. It was strange that this full of energy girl became something so different. He cared about Kitty very much, she was his friend for over five years now and he would do anything to protect her. She was there for him when his father died and he got dropped off to his older brother, about whom he did not know until his mother decided to use him to her advantage. He knew her good enough to realize that even though she said she's well, she was not.
Something was wrong, something bit her, but Maxim did not want to push her. He wanted her to feel comfortable enough around him to do it by herself. He'd do everything to help her out, but did not want to risk her feeling bad about his attempts to do so. He wanted the girl to feel better and if she didn't want to share, he wouldn't push. It was not in his nature. He understood the need for privacy, even though he hated secrets. Sometimes it took some time for people to come out and really trust. He decided to just make sure Kitty knows he will support her no matter what.
He let her steer the conversation the way she wanted, but his blue eyes said everything. He did not believe she was alright. In fact, he suspected she was with child. Of course, it was none of his business, so he decided not to mention it. If she wanted it that way, then so it would be. ”Alright, but promise me one thing.” He placed his hand on her shoulder and looked straight into her eyes. ”If something is really wrong – you will tell me. There's nothing you can't tell me. I'm not going to tell anyone. Hell, if my family is good at something, it's keeping secrets.” He grinned Why didn't he notice before how pretty her eyes are?
Because you're stupid.
A voice answered in his head. Maxim decided it would be best to ignore it and not show his irritation. He should ask Gabriel if he knows legilimency next time he sees him.
