The key to good eavesdropping is not getting caught
Antigone had gotten up early that morning for once and on such occasions, she rarely knew what to do. She was too wide awake to snooze until her normal waking time and she certainly didn't want to attempt homework... And then it occurred to her. With a small smile to herself, she slipped out of bed and dressed quickly.
It didn't take too long and shortly after she was sweeping briskly into the Great Hall, a certain haughtiness about her stride. Antigone lingered at the Slytherin table only a few moments before grabbing three pieces of buttered toast and leaving again. The fact was, she knew exactly what she would do with her morning. She had heard a couple of the boys in the common room talking about Quidditch practice that morning and so she seized the opportunity to watch. After all, what was better than watching a group of boys practice sports? Well, she supposed the actual Quidditch match itself could top it but the practice was still worth it anyway.
Walking swiftly towards the Quidditch pitch now, toast in hand, she headed for the stands. She had brought a cloak with her and was presently grateful for it as the wind was harsh. Her blonde ringlets were blown clear of her face by the strong breeze and the cold made her cheeks pink. Before she went up into stands, she glanced around at the pitch first. Tig chose a seat closest to where the practice was going on and began to nibble at her toast which was unfortunately cold by now.

They were weak.
Or at least he thought a fair few of the boys on his houses quidditch team were weak. He was rather certain if he aimed a bludger at some of them with a heavy hand that they would fall off there brooms faster than a hufflepuff. Thankfully for his team mates in practice he was geared more towards precision than he was during games making the bludgers being tapped slightly lighter. Plus the last thing he needed was the headache from the questions of why he put one of his housemates in the hospital wing - even if he thought some might deserve it.
Flying he dipped in the air and after a rather pathetic attempt at catching a quaffle by a third year who for good reason did not make the team he was sick of it. Seriously some of the kids being prepped for next year need to realize this was quidditch not synchronized flying. With an agitated grunt he aimed a bludger hard in the boys direction, and predictably he fell.
Even more predictably the grumbling started, and the break to help the poor boy. Noticing Antigone in the stands he flew in her direction and hovered on his broom in front of where she was sitting. With a smile he said " Miss Baudelaire I did not realized quidditch interested you so. " Then with a smirk he said " Any requests ? "

The key to good eavesdropping is not getting caught
Antigone had been watching the group practicing, watching and admiring of course. There was something she found alluring about the very masculine sport and it was something she had only began really noticing in past year or so. So naturally being the silly girl that she was, she near swooned as Elijah made his way over to her. She hadn't missed the bludger he had aimed perfectly at someone else, making them fall. She thought it a very strong arm and admirable good aim that he possessed.
A broad smile slowly creeping onto her face as he greeted her, she got to her feet and stood close to the edge of the box she had settled in. "Why, Monsieur Burke, of course I am interested in Quidditch!" she chided, the teasing in her voice clear as the sky above. Was she truly an avid Quidditch supporter? No, not really. The game was nowhere near as enticing so much as the players themselves. It was even better now that girls were no longer allowed to play as it meant all seven players of each team were handsome and enjoyable to watch. Though she personally felt Elijah the most talented and handsome of them all. "Surprise me!" Tig fixed him with an intent stare, the corners of her mouth now forming a light smirk. "If you can, that is," she added after a short delay, her smirk widening.

He could feel the stares on his shoulders, and part of him wondered if the other boys thought he had aimed that bludger just to take the time to greet the appearance of Antigone. The simple fact of the manner was he had not noticed Antigone before aiming the bludger, though now she was here the gambit to impress her was certainly on. Conveniently he though there were multiple people the team could spare in addition to the extra boys who just practiced with the team hoping somedays there dreams would come true.
Dreams that would only come true if he hit multiple individuals on the team. A team that was truly the best that could be scavenged from his house as long as the girls were not permitted to play.
With a smile he said " I'm sure I can conjure something up. " Or he determined even if he wiped the pitch with a few of the spare housemates he had there would always be more to replace them as he tried to figure out something. He said " I suspect practice won't last more than another hour would you be interested in grabbing a proper breakfast in the great hall. " Figuring there would still be food there, and there would be at least one chaperon hanging about so the invitation would seem proper.

The key to good eavesdropping is not getting caught
She was very glad it was fiercely snowing as it had been when she had last seen him on his broom. This way she could see properly and appreciate his skills on a broom. At his invite to go back with him to have a full breakfast, her cheeks involuntarily glowed. He was asking her to eat breakfast with him?! In truth, the toast had been enough though that was the last thing on her mind for there was no way she would possibly turn him down. "I should like that very much," she replied with a hint of a smirk about the smile she wore.
Just wait until she told her friends that she had been asked to have late breakfast with him! They would surely be highly envious, would they not? She liked to think they would. "You seem a lot more comfortable on your broom without snow," she observed cheekily, her eyes slowly wandering to the other players in the distance. "You better crush Hufflepuff next month," she murmured with a smirk. Sometimes she wished she could join in with the sport but as far as anyone else knew, her opinion on the matter was of disinterest and the closest a girl should get to it is the stadium.

He smiled and nodded with the full intention of ending practice in a quicker fashion that its natural conclusion. Being a beater had advantages as it meant with one well placed swing someone who should have never been on a broom would likely be realizing that in the wing. Of course he had little intention of injuring anyone severely so he would target one of the older students who was not on the team, yet had not given up the dream.
Seriously he could not understand seventh years who showed up and had not gotten on the team yet.
Of course he had been an alternate for a while, but that was because he had little desire to try. Still now he did not care much about the team and was doing it more for the attention others gave him for being on the team. He chuckled and said " It was more fun in the snow. " with a smile as it truely was more fun. This was simple and rather routine flying and that had been an adventure.
Then he said " Only one? " with a smirk on his face before he flew back off towards his team mates who were preparing to practice again.
+++ Skipping past a rather typical 30 minutes of Quidditch Practice +++
He shook his head with a mix of disgust and anger as he looked towards Walter. The boy always was talking himself up claiming baseless things that he or his family had done. They had done nothing and except for some of the blood running through there veins they were worthless. Nothing to back that up and with a grunt he aimed a bludger at the boys shoulders.
It hit. The shouts and accusations started. With a smile he blamed Walter for trying to impress girls on the pitch and his housemates either bought his story or didn't care. Naturally it did not manner as he flew back towards Antigone caring less about his housemates. Landing in the bench area he took a seat next to Antigone and said " We should leave before Walter wakes up and everyone misses he did not try something crazy. "
Then he stood up and offered his hand to Antigone with a smile. Figuring he should be a gentleman especially with so many people watching including the chaperone he saw sitting in the corner of one of the stands.

The key to good eavesdropping is not getting caught
Antigone was more than happy to watch the Slytherin team practice. She might not openly support female quidditch players but she had nothing against supporting the game. Nothing at all whatsoever. She watched the practice with more interest than she deigned show. It was somewhat hard to watch, however, when she was more than excited to go to breakfast in the company of Elijah.
She had no idea how much time had passed since he had gone off to finish practicing before he was flying toward her and came to sit next to her. For perhaps the first time in a long time, Antigone was very glad to have woken up early, sometimes there were definitely benefits to doing so and today happened to be proving it quite so. This would be a very good Saturday, she concluded. The girls would certainly be hearing of this, oh yes.
Tig was definitely happy to leave the quidditch stands for breakfast, she had been waiting with pent up anticipation since he had suggested it. She smirked at him and accepted the offered hand gladly. "You're not too bad a flier, Monsieur Burke," she remarked with a teasing edge. She was really quite hungry and could only imagine how hungry he must be, but then again, did sitting on a broom really work up an appetite especially quickly? Perhaps it did.

Using his hand to gracefully pull her from her seat he let it go with a slight bow once she was standing. Most individuals would not expect him to remember all the things his father taught him about etiquette with ladies. He also suspected that most of the boys in his year had not practice silly things like pulling out chairs with his mother.
He found such things to be silly, but oddly they occasionally became handy.
This was one of those times as he was certain girls talked, and he wanted to try somewhat. Of course as he wandered with Antigone towards the castle he was thinking more about food than manners. He said " Hope there will be sandwiches. " looking over towards Antigone with a slight smile.
Then he continued walking past the door of the castle he held it open for Antigone before continuing down the hallway quickly. Rounding the entrance way to the great hall he said " Lets sit at the empty end of Ravenclaw Table." as he looked to his own house table noticing the sheer number of younger years. Younger years that he probably would be tempted to hit with his bat and see how fast they popped up to be hit again.
A game of whack-a-dunce that he wanted to skip with Antigone around. Though he did not move and let Antigone set in motion where they would sit.
OCC: Will edit, figured I should move them to food...

The key to good eavesdropping is not getting caught
The smallest squeak of a giggle escaped her as she was helped from her seat and bowed to; he was certainly full of surprises! Pleasant surprises. As they walked up to the castle, she couldn't help but smugly wonder what her friends would think. She caught his smile and couldn't help the twitch of a smirk that eased onto her face in response. "Sandwiches and croissants," she replied, a gentle French accent invading the last word of her sentence. "They are not as good here as they are in France or Luxembourg," she commented matter-of-factly.
Once inside the castle, she wondered at his choice of the Ravenclaw table as a place to sit. She didn't disapprove at all, merely wondered at his motive. "The Ravenclaw table?" she questioned nonchalantly. Perhaps while they were there she could take the opportunity to talk to a Ravenclaw and bend one of their arms and make them do the four page essay she had hanging over her head.
She noticed as he looked that the Slytherins assembled were mostly second years and first years. How annoying! And they had dotted themselves in little groups on the table so you couldn't really avoid sitting in close proximity to them. Sure the little Slytherins were better than little Hufflepuffs or Gryffindors but the fact remained... Noting that he appeared to be waiting for something - she assumed for her to pick a place - she took a few steps before glancing over her should at him and flashing him a smirk before striding confidently through the room, her blonde curls bouncing cheerily behind her until she reached the more or less deserted end of the Ravenclaw table and made herself at home there.

Antigone certainly had a point. He did enjoy croissants, though he did not think the ones at Hogwarts were as good as the ones at home. His mother had standards and originally from France. Elijah-Thomas said " Croissants they always taste odd here, my mother makes them so much better. " in a slightly wistful tone. He did wish he could go home and get some of them to eat, and he was sure Antigone would prefer them to the ones at Hogwarts.
Ravenclaw table seemed logical to him, though perhaps it wasn't.
He tried to think and said quietly " I'd probably end up playing wack-a-mole with some of them at our table. " Then he chuckled and said a little louder " Plus some of the team hasn't mastered freshing charms. " As even if he had just been practicing quidditch he did not stink as he quickly had used some charms before he approached Antigone. Plus he had been careful not to get to sweaty at practice as he had known Antigone was in the stands.
Taking a seat next to where Antigone took one he looked around at the food options. Taking a glass he poured some tea into it and placed some tea in a second glass for Antigone. As far as manners went for tea pouring he had not even bothered to learn them.
Elijah-Thomas said " Never been to Luxembourg myself. Been to France plenty of times as my mother has family there. "

Antigone was more appreciate of the fact he knew a good croissant when he tasted one than she had thought she would be. "I am impressed, most people here say they cannot tell the difference," she remarked loftily.
"Ah! I see, les garçons sont très parfumées**," she murmured with a giggle. At the same time she was very glad that Elijah was not one of them; she had something of a sensative nose and while a little manly musk scent was not offensive, outright body odor was another matter entirely. "Hopefully the Ravenclaws will not emit an unflattering scent though they spend so much time amongst their books they must all smell like moldy parchment."
Tig watched as he poured tea and found herself perfectly capable of picking flaws in the angle at which he held the teapot and such but her partiality for him allowed her to very easily overlook them where she might have held it against others. "Merci! You have French relations?" she asked, her eyebrows raising in mild surprise. He only seemed to improve the more she knew of him. "I like France very much, it is not quite Luxembourg though. You ought to visit sometime." She took a sip of her tea and peered at him out of the corner of her eyes. "So tell me, Mr. Burke, will Slytherin be winning the next quidditch match?" she asked with a sly grin as she placed her tea back down on the table.

He had not expected to impress her. He had little intention of continuing on the topic of debating french pastries. As he could only get so lucky based on his mothers instruction of the family house elves. Or in the case of the croissants the fact that unlike other food she occasionally would cook them.
With a chuckle he said "Oui." he did love how the french word for fragrant was the one girls used for the stuff they sprayed on themselves. Elijah-Thomas said " Though it certainly isn't perfume. " playing on the words. He chuckled again about the books, but said nothing. It was a definite risk, and one he had not actually thought about.
Hopefully the mistake would not haunt him. Though if it did it would be the Ravenclaw that would be hexed.
Yes, he had french relations. They were odd and he did not really understand them so he did not have much of a relationship with them. Though if that would impress Antigone certain small details could be omitted in describing them. Elijah-Thomas said " My mother likes us to travel over the summer. I'll see if I can recommend Luxembourg stop. " If it turned out Antigone was going to be in Luxembourg over the summer he might be more inclined.
With a smile he said " Will you be gracing us with your presence at the next match?" Then he paused a bit and said " I'm confident we will win. I might have to aim some bludgers at my own team to help the captain make a proper line-up though. "
Then he looked down the table and tilted his head towards a kid that was approaching them. He had little desire to deal with the Ravenclaws and if he could intimidate them into walking away he would. Looking back towards Antigone he said " I wasn't in the mood for him. " then took a bite of his food.

The key to good eavesdropping is not getting caught
She giggled lightly at his mention of perfume and then scrunched up her nose slightly at the thought of the considerably un-perfume-y smell he was alluding to. Thankfully, a one-off smell was completely forgivable but a constant smell, however, left the perpetrator irredeemable in Tig's eyes.
"You really ought to see it," she stated with an unconscious flutter of her eyelashes, "Far too many people assume it is just like France but I think it is better." Finally helping herself to one of the aforementioned croissants, she ate a piece and instantly decided they were definitely inferior as they had agreed. Leaving the rest of the croissant untouched on her plate, she instead helped herself to a couple pieces of bacon instead.
Tig would definitely be at the next Quidditch match; she wouldn't miss one for the world. It was something of an addiction but she thoroughly enjoyed admiring the Quidditch players and then lording over Slytherin's victories over the other non-Slytherin students when the occasion called for it. "I most certainly shall! I have yet to miss a single match in my entire time here," she boasted with a self-satisfied expression on her face. "I shall make sure to watch out for you," she paused and then realized what could be read into her statement and hastily added, "In the event you should fall off your broom, of course." She diverted her attention to the staff table briefly, not really paying attention to what she saw but hiding her embarrassment at her own words and what he might have concluded from them. This 'distraction' was short lived and she caught Elijah's intimidation of the Ravenclaw. She concluded that it only made him all the more fanciable. Antigone found herself rather tongue-tied all of a sudden which was certainly not like her and as she struggled for something clever and witty to say, she could only stare at her teacup with a look of frozen horror. She had to say something. She needed to convince him she was a pretty, witty and clever but words were escaping her entirely.
As she stared, her eyes caught sight of some Hufflepuff on the table over from them showing off with a levitating charm and a bowl of porridge and quite without warning and out of an innate urge to do something, her hands clamped around wand which she quickly drew and flicked with agitation causing the bowl to vanish and the contents to splatter all over the table and surrounding students. Tig placed her wand back in her pocket suddenly and glanced sheepishly at the staff table hoping no one had seen. "I... Ummm..." she tried to think up an excuse for why she had just done what she had but found herself clean out of them, finally having to settle for a guilty grin and the hope that he did not think her crazy.

He never assumed one place was like another. He'd grown up in London until the mess that made Hogsmeade and his father decide to move to it. At least his family still had there place in London and his uncle still had his shop. Even if his uncle having his shop had caused him many problems over the year due to his interest in the more unique things in wizarding society. That and helping out with his uncles business was more fun than anything that his father did at the Ministry.
Elijah-Thomas said " I'd be interested to see it someday, and I'll be sure to ask for recommendations if I make it there. " Hoping to prevent any debate on which french speaking country was better. After all, he disliked losing and he was certain he would lose either way and it was just a manner of to whom - and when it came back to haunt him.
An avid quidditch fan. It was a pity he hardly paid attention to such things prior to himself joining the team. Then he only paid attention to himself.
He chuckled " I'm sure you'll be entertained through the disappointment of missing that. " As he had no intentions of falling off his broom. Though he was pleased to see the Ravenclaw go the other direction and some odd excitement at the Hufflepuff table. Looking down at the table towards Antigone's wand he just smiled then said " No one is in the mood for him. " agreeing with his friend.
With a smile he said " Do you have any summer plans? " slightly curious even if it was early. So early that he did not have any plans.

The key to good eavesdropping is not getting caught
"I hope you do get to see it," she replied with a cheeky sort of grin which she promptly hid with her teacup lest he catch sight of it. She didn't want to be too obvious after all.
"I suppose I might be... So long as the other team is beaten to within an inch of their dignities." She couldn't deny having a rather colorfully competitive streak on top of a desire to make mischief, she perhaps didn't have the best suited personality for a proper lady though she wouldn't let that stop her from trying. Trying and perhaps indulging from time to time. She blushed a little at her impulsive action and suddenly felt as though he might think she was trying to hard.
His question to her, however, changed her mind entirely. "Summer plans?" she repeated with a hint of surprise. "Not that I have been informed of, though I suppose we might go abroad at some point as we often do..." she replied with an attempt at nonchalance. "What of you?" she asked in return, genuinely curious but hoping he might only read it as a polite question in response to his own. Tig had become a little concerned if she appeared too interested he might decide not to be friends with her anymore (were they friends? She liked to think so). She had heard of something similar with a girl in her house a few years above her who had been talking a little louder than she ought to have in the common room the other week.
