Appearance: William, though he rarely acknowledges it, has a lean, muscular build from three years on the Quidditch team and extra practices before then. He possesses dirty blond hair and green eyes which range from sage to forest. Though he is unaware of this, Will is considered handsome by various young, society women. He has appeasing facial features that bespeak his kind and loyal disposition; however there is a hint of maturity and independence in his stride and air. His voice is no different from the average masculine, but there is a hint of softness and intellect in his manner of speaking. It is as if he is confident with his words and does not flounder about for right words. Will often has hints of stubble across his smooth complexion when he neglects to shave, but it only enhances his mature appearance.
History:
Spring 1864 | The second and youngest son of Phillip and Olivia Pendergast was born. William had only been partially acknowledged by his mother during his infancy – through most of his childhood, actually.
1866 | The Pendergast family expands as they welcome their third daughter, Rosalind, into the world. It was also during this year when he bravely irritated Linaeve into playing with him. The moment did not last long, but it did have prolonging results: Linaeve ended up with a scrape marred on her pretty, young face. Afraid of harming her once again, William distanced himself from Lina.
1867 | Ellory is born. William was only three at time so it is uncertain whether or not he had taken to the two new Pendergast children; his mother truly did seem to abandon him to governesses and nannies once Ellory had been born.
1868 | William becomes attached to his elder brother, Regan; and begins attempting to mimic him in movement and speech. To be quite frank, William is the opposite of Regan; though it was their interest in Quidditch that brought the two young brothers together, Regan’s interest becoming decidedly more obsessive than Will’s. While Regan would devote most of his time to Quidditch, William would find himself enamored in poetry or music.
1870 | William begins to acknowledge musical instruments and decides to build up his courage to ask for lessons. With his wish granted, Will begins studying the history of music and becomes quite skilled in playing the piano, the violin, and (much to his mother’s chagrin) a guitar.
1872 | For his eighth birthday, Will’s only wish that would appease him was to get a positive applaud from his family for his music. So, after the birthday supper, Will gently asked his mother and father to return to the music parlor before they retire for bed. William will always recollect how sweaty his palms became as he set his bow to the strings of his violin and began playing. Once he discontinued his passionate playing, however, he was met by an awed silence that Will misinterpreted as their dissatisfaction of his playing. A few moments later, Will realized that the silence would not filled and politely excused himself for his rest. To be frank, Will was particularly bothered and hurt by his parents’ lack of enthusiasm or criticism on his musician skills, but he only convinced and reassured himself that if he had a bit more practice, he would surely bring a small smile to his mother and father’s stoic, expressionless miens.
The eldest Pendergast children attend Hogwarts in the autumn of 1872. Will is saddened by his brother’s absence during school terms. However, he communicated frequently with Regan (and Lina when he felt that it was appropriate to address her) through letters and such.
1876 – 1st year | William receives his Hogwarts admittance letter, and is thrilled to be attending the majestic school of magic to receive an education. However, he was a bit reluctant to leave everything he had known since infancy behind; but Hogwarts always seemed to have a quirk with welcoming any child under her roof and making them feel at home, and William soon released his hold on his concerns and had been eager to return to Hogwarts for his second year
1877 – 2nd year | . William is introduced to a lively and independent lower-class young girl by the name of Lucille. The two become fast friends, and William slowly came to fancy her. Of course, he could not identify his feelings whenever Lucille was around, but not a month before December, Lucille left Hogwarts, claiming that the studies and her ineligible writing were too difficult for her young mind to decipher. This saddened William greatly, but he came to realize that if Lucille continued the pace she was going, she would have never graduated to the next year.
The Pendergasts’ remove themselves for their original residence near London to Hogsmeade after a bit of trouble involving a suspecting muggle. The muggle insists upon their confessing that they are, indeed, of magical blood, but Phillip Pendergast kept denying this fact. However, due to the fact that Mr. Pendergast feared for the safety of his family, the staff and the family packed their belongings to remove themselves to Hogsmeade.
1878 – 3rd year | William’s younger sister, Rosalind, joins Regan, Linaeve, Evelyn, and he at Hogwarts. William spent the majority of the year attempting to bond with Rosalind and be the attentive elder brother he should be by directing her way about the castle and assisting her in any kind of trouble that may have befall her. However, his attempts at bonding with Rosalind were difficult as she appeased her mother by joining the Slytherin House with Linaeve and Evelyn. He truly saddened by this occurrence, as well. He seemed to be the oddity since he was only one of the Pendergast children to join the Hufflepuff House.
William’s youngest sister, Ellory joins himself and his siblings at Hogwarts.
1879 – 4th year | William joins the Quidditch team. After receiving a letter from Regan filled with disappointment that his younger brother had not had the decency to apply for a position, no matter what the house team, Will decided to appease both himself and Regan by trying out. William had always thought himself a fair flyer, but he had never thought that his flying was good enough for the Quidditch team. However, Will was proven wrong once he realized that he had been granted a position as Beater on the Hufflepuff Quidditch team. Much too startled by this appointment, Will only accepted this request with a mute nod and a beaming smile stretched across his features. Also, Regan and Linaeve graduate at the end of their 1879-1880 school term.
Spring 1879 | William’s namesake and grandfather passes away in mid-conversation whilst confessing his gratitude for the guests attending his retirement party.
September 7th, 1879 | William was allowed to leave the school premises to attend Linaeve’s nuptials to become Mrs. Linaeve Wilkinson. If Will was certain, he thought he caught her disappointment and sadness as she strolled down the aisle as if she would rather be tending to any other duty than become a man’s wife. It is around this time that William would begin sending Lina letters inquiring of her well-being to ensure from her correspondence that Mr. Wilkinson was treating her the way a woman ought to be treated. Will possessed a fierce, opinionated dislike against Mr. Wilkinson’s cocky and overbearing mien since the matrimonial ceremony.
1880 – 5th year Will is appointed Prefect in his fifth year much to the delight of his parents. Of course, their expressions were stoic but Will caught something in their eyes that bespoke…proudness or pride in their second son? Will also aces his O.W.L’s with little difficulty.
