Wand: - Cherry | A powerful wand wood, cherry requires a wizard with control ... and Jean never loses control of himself or his emotions. This is not to say he is not emotional, because he is -- he is simply the master of himself and is not ruled by emotion.
- Unicorn Hair | The most faithful of wand cores, Jean is as steadfast as his wand.
- Ten Inches | A comfortable length for a tall wizard, Jean's wand is not longer because he tends to be more quiet than forceful or overly present in personality.
- Flexible | Jean is willing to change as it's necessary, a trait reflected in his wand.

Appearance: A tall man, Jean stands at an even 6 feet. He is trim and fit, and always dresses to best flatter his tall, lean appearance. While the clothes he wears would be relatively somber in France, they lean slightly more towards the flamboyant in England. Jean is beginning to show signs of his age, primarily in the form of crow's feet at the corners of his blue-gray eyes, but is still generally a vibrant and energetic man. His brown hair is still mostly brown with only traces of silvering, and recently he has kept it cut short. He is clean-shaven and prone to smiling, a relatively happy man despite the fact that he has never gotten to the point after his wife's death where he considered courting another woman. Jean is right handed.

Personality: The simplest way to sum up Jean de Montfault is to say that he is "a good man." No matter what a person's definition of good is, Jean seems to fit it. He mourned his wife's death and raised his children on his own (that is to say, with the appropriate aid of a very appropriate staff) and managed to keep his own cheerful disposition instead of wallowing in grief. He does not behave inappropriately and is protective of his children. He is generally honest, in control of his emotions, and loyal to his friends and family. This combination of traits makes him somewhat naive, especially when it comes to his children. It never occurs to him that one of his children might lie to him.
Sample Roleplay Post: Jean smiled indulgently at his youngest daughter. She was starting to show, for all that she did not like to admit it. Before much longer she would not be able to participate in society until after the child was born. It was bad enough that her pregnancy -- and the shameful reason for it -- had been splashed all over the paper without submitting her to the torture of being shunned while she was out in public, with child, and unmarried.
Vaguely, Jean was aware that the best option for his daughter right now was to find someone who would not care that her child was not his and marry Odette anyway. Unfortunately, the Frenchman was not sure who that might be ... and with Odette's virtue compromised, however it had happened, she was unlikely to find anyone in the Upper Class who would have her.
"Those are quite lovely, Odette," he said with a sad smile. He needed to find some way to salvage her life for her. Perhaps he could take a hit in business in order to arrange her a marriage. "I especially like this one," he said, reaching out to touch a blue-green gown that would look like silk from a distance.
