come what may
Andren had been peacefully eating his breakfast- apples, a roll with butter, and some sausage- when one of his friends had tapped him on the shoulder and pushed a copy of the daily prophet into his hands. Andren had given them a look. "Here," they said, flipping through the pages to one of the Ventus woman's articles in response.

They had then backed off, as if terrified of what his reaction would be. Andren read quietly, expression growing darker as soon as he saw the picture of Olive. It then decreased in cheer further, to the point where his knuckles were white on the paper he was gripping and he had stopped taking bites out of his roll.

When he finished the article Andren folded up the paper, composed his face into eerie calm, and took the last few bites of his roll. Then he casually glanced at the paper, pulled out his wand to rest on his plate, and ripped it in half. He dropped the remainders on the floor and scuffed at it with his boot, ripping up the papers. Staring at it for a few moments and breathing heavily, he grabbed his wand and rested his hands on his knees, looking at the former paper and wondering what on earth he should do with it.

Harvey had rolled unexpectedly late out of bed that morning before class. He was never usually one to oversleep, but even Andren had beaten him out of their dorm that morning. The only time that ever happened was when his roommate had quidditch and had to be down to the pitch early. Harvey had dressed quickly and made his way down to the Great Hall to grab something before class.

He noticed his roommate, sitting by himself, at the Puff table, which was unusual on its own. Curious, he meandered over sitting across from Andren. Being as oblivious as he was, he piled his plate with some eggs, ham, toast and a little fresh fruit. He didn't have much time before his first class started, so he shoveled the first few bites into his mouth without breathing before actually looked up and noticed the look on his best friend's face. Swallowing, he washed the food down with a quick sip of pumpkin juice before clearing his throat, hoping to stir his friend from whatever thoughts were bothering him.

It wasn't a look usually found on Andren's face, so Harvey was puzzled to see that look of confusion of some kind on his friend's face. "Everything all right there mate?" He questioned after a moment, taking another bite of his eggs. Harvey noticed the Prophet, or the remnants of it on the floor beside his friend and he cocked his head, but couldn't make out the title on the page. Knowing the paper and its tendency to cause chaos for those who read it, Harvey wondered just what had been printed this time. Whatever was printed this time had obviously ticked off his friend, but the pieces on the floor were not yielding any information so he was just going to have to wait to see if Andren was in the mood to share or not.

Harvey at least temporarily distracted Andren from some of his anger. "No," he said. "Because my sister was in the paper for talking to 'Hugo Pendergast'," this bit was said with an air of mockery, and the first year sitting on the edge of the 'Andren-explosion' space practically scooted into the lap of someone next to them. "Without a chaperone, and with her dress 'pushed up to expose an ample amount of leg.'" More mockery as he quoted the article. Honestly, why couldn't they just write an article on him and Ellory? That was a far better story, even though he and the littlest Pendergast were just friends and it had happened months ago.

He glanced at Harvey and his anger deflated a bit- he had pushed out some of it with the mocking, but then it came back at roughly half-swing. "They called Olive a hussie!" Olive, who may have excused herself of most of the rules of etiquette but was also his sister, and by far the most responsible Lovegood. Olive, who he thought was the least likely of any of his siblings to end up in the paper. Olive, a hussie? It was ridiculous.

He pointed his wand at the paper again. "If I lit this on fire do you think people would notice?" he asked, knowing the answer was probably 'yes' but hoping Harvey would say elsewise anyways.

Oh, worse than he anticipated. Harvey could easily see why Andren was upset. The Prophet was relentless. "Don't they have anything better to report on. Seriously." He mumbled, loudly of course. It was so annoying. There had to be something going on outside of Hogwarts that they could report on, things more important to society than what students were doing in their free time. They were kids, they had hormones. Of course the whole situation with Grip was rather unnerving. While he didn't believe the boy did it, he also did not like his sister hanging out with him either. That was surely a way to get herself labeled as a hussy, which was completely contradictory to Harvey. Elsie was the last girl he could ever think of to be a hussy. Of course, Andren's own sister was right there with her.

Setting down his fork for a minute, he grinned wickedly when Andren asked anybody would notice if he started a small fire in the Great Hall. "I'm gonna say yes, but I won't stop you." Harvey was mad for Andren, that was a hard place to be. It was hard enough to focus on studies and quidditch and everything else going on at Hogwarts, let alone worrying about somebody analyzing every little thing you did. Heaven forbid his tutoring of Hannah somehow become noticed and somebody found it to be inappropriate. Not that it would stop him, but seriously, because she was a girl and he was a guy it was suddenly improper of him to help her with schoolwork in the broad daylight of the common room. How absolutely and utterly annoying.

"In fact, I say go for it. What's the worst that could happen? We get labeled as arsonists in that stupid paper?" He laughed aloud, picking up his fork again to finish off his eggs. "Seriously, do it." He mumbled, mouth full of food, pointing his fork to the scattered pieces of paper. "I'd be pissed too if somebody said that about Dell, Elsie or for Merlin's sake Charlie." His youngest sister was only eleven, Hannah's age, the two could easily be friends, which he supposed could be his excuse if somebody questioned him on their tutoring sessions, but the fact that he had to come up with a backup excuse was what annoyed him.

Lysandra was already sitting at a vacated Slytherin table before the massive lunch rush arrived. Lysandra hurriedly ate to avoid her housemates as she now frequently did, although eating fast was very unbecoming of her. But alas, she had to adapt to the way things were--having to deal with the scorn of her house.

She had nothing else to do but watch the other students go about their normal lunch routines. Lysandra had not the courage to sit at another table quite yet, but she had made some new friends, if you wanted to call them that. She was most close with the Lovegoods since Lysandra's Daily Prophet incident--if you call sporadically speaking "close." However, over the past week or so, Lysandra had been talking more and more with Olive since they broke the ice, and she felt comfortable calling Olive her good friend. Lysandra considered sitting with her from time to time, but certain discomforts had set Lysandra back. Perhaps one of these days...

A ripping sound had torn through the lunch room. Lysandra watched as Andren did justice to the piece of trash known as the Daily Prophet. But why? What had the Daily Prophet done now? People were gathering around Andren, including his good friend Harvey Beauregard. Something was surely up. Lysandra gobbled the rest of her food and arose to meet this potential situation.

Two first years had a newpaper in hand. "Who's Olive?" the one kid asked. The other kid pointed towards the Ravenclaw table. "Aye, she's right there, methinks?!" The kids were pointing to none other than Olive Lovegood.

"Give me that paper!" Lysandra snatched it from the young kid's grip. She barely finished the article before figuratively bellowing flames from her mouth. "How dare you read this trash! How dare you point at such a lady! Tis' despicable! I ought to cut off your finger! You tell everyone that this article is nonsense, and to never read this paper AGAIN! Am I clear!?" Her voiced boomed and hissed across the room. At this point she had one of the students by the collar as she threw the paper on the ground, then drew her wand. She released her clutch by flinging the kid several steps back from where he was standing. Her wand and her focus then turned to the paper laying helplessly on the ground. "Incendio!"

Something most certainly snapped in Lysandra. This was the final straw--the Daily Prophet would no longer ruin any one else's life as long as Lysandra was around. And thus it began--the merciless destruction of the Daily Prophet newpapers.

Lysandra began an insane rampage. No longer did reputation matter when Olive's was on the line, as well as the family name of Lovegood. Lysandra began yelling statements at the top of her lungs while gathering copies of the Daily Prophet, even forcibly ripping them from the hands of its readers. "I will eradicate this excrement from the halls of Hogwarts!" and "Olive Lovegood's name shaln't be tarnished by such an insufferable and untrue piece of rubbish!" and "How dare you all of refined natures endure such atrocious verbiage! You should be ashamed of yourselves!"

Statement after statement echoed through the Great Hall. The smell of smoke could be smelled as Lysandra began lighting the papers on fire. She hysterically raged like a mad woman, charging any who held the Prophet in their hands, stealing the paper, and eliminating it.

Lysandra eventually reached Andren's table where the Hufflepuff gang was gathered. "How dare they Andren, how dare these writers destroy lives! This shaln't be tolerated any more! I am through with this! I will not allow these lies to see the halls of Hogwarts again!"

Exit Lysandra unless you want to keep her here.

Andren glared at the paper. "Can't we get a good murderer or something. I mean, where's all the real news gone off to?" He scuffed at the paper some more.

Harvey said that people would notice, but that he might as well do it. Andren started flicking his wand, but stopped himself. "Nah," he said. "Our dear friend Phineas probably has no problems with expelling me, and I'm pretty sure that would give Ox a heart attack and Yente Ventus may just pee herself from excitement."

He was officially distracted by the arrival of Lysandra. "Lysandra?" he said, stifling the urge to call her Miss Sutherland because they were, after all, cousins. "Yeah, I saw. They're so...." he grimaced, and glanced at Harvey as if his friend could supply the word.

"They're news-hungry snooping rats who need to get some lives," he said finally, picking up the paper and absently ripping it up into little pieces. "And I think it's time to write them a letter. What do you feel, Harvey?" Beauregard was obviously the most sane person there, at least for the time being.

Harvey was momentarily distracted bye a shout and some cursing coming from the Slytherins a few tables away. He watched, amused and just a little bit shocked as Lysandra Sutherland began a rampage through the hall. He didn't know her very well, but he had never seen her like this. I was like she snapped. You knew the stupid newspaper was really off when a Slytherin got that fired up about something. Needless to say, Harvey felt the same way that Lysandra did, but wasn't nearly as vocal about it. While he had no personal reason to hate the Prophet, it was just what they stood for and the rubbish they continuously published that rubbed him the wrong way. If anything, it was a gossip column under the guise of news reporting. Seriously who cared what hormonal teenagers chose to do in the free time? Or if some dumb seventh year decided to seduce or get seduced by Mr. Grimm. Really, there had to be better world news to report on than that.

He remained quiet when Lysandra reached them, mostly because he wasn't sure if could trust himself not to laugh. She was completely right in her judgments, in his opinion anyway, but to shout through the Great Hall like that was a little insane, again in his opinion. When something anti-Prophet popped up, all fingers would point straight to her. No Harvey was much more subtle in his defiance, though he gave her points for style.

The look Andren shot him was purely comical. He could seen how unsure his friend was at the moment, but couldn't offer an ending to his sentence, again without incriminating himself by laughing. When his friend addressed him again, he could only shrug. "I suppose I have to play the level-headed one here." It was usually his job, being a middle sibling and all. "An angry letter may do the trick, but I don't know how far it would get. For all you know they may just put your letter in the news rag." It was a possibility, he thought. "Then again, don't suppose that would be entirely bad either. At least others could see that some people think their 'news' and I use that term loosely, is complete rubbish."

Andren hadn't noticed Lysandra drift off and found himself left with Harvey again. "Well I'm insane, so my guess is yeah," he said, grinning broadly at Harvey.

"Ooh, I hope they post it. I hope they dig up as much dirt on me as possible, too. That'd be hilarious," he said. He yanked a piece of parchment from his bag. With a quill that looked dangerously close to breaking he scrawled one sentence.

My sister is not a hussie, you nosy rats, followed by his signature. He folded up the piece of paper and stuck it in his pocket. "There. I didn't even swear at or threaten them."

That would surely be a relief to his older brother. He couldn't help but wonder how he and Alice were dealing with the newspaper article. Surely whatever they doing was very entertaining. As adults they had the right to bitch and moan about Yente Ventus in a degree he could only dream of; they could set all the newspapers they wanted on fire and no one could punish them., so long as it was on their own property. Being an adult sounded fantastic.

Laughing, because he didn't think Andren was going to write the letter at this very moment, Harvey looked on, eating all the while. They didn't have much time left before classes started, so he figured he should shovel in as much food as he could. Otherwise, he'd be starving by lunch and he never fared well in the lesson before lunch if he was starving.

Andren looked very intent on writing a scathing letter, so Harvey was rather surprised when his friend finished in under a minute. Personally, he would have had a lot more to say than that one line he'd read upside down while Andren wrote it. It was short, but to the point and most likely would unfortunately only solicit some laughs from the newspaper editors, but if it made Andren feel better then he should just go for it.

"Feel better?" He questioned, smirking despite the seriousness of the issue. Points to him for not swearing or threatening anybody. Harvey would have most likely written a short novel to the newspaper about how mundane and annoying their columns were and that there had to be something better to report about than the social dealings of local girls. Not to mention a lot of nasty remarks. It was a little ridiculous really. "Have you spoken with your sister yet?" He asked, curious to know if Olive was okay. Harvey didn't really know Olive very well, but she did remind him of Elsie. Inevitably it would all blow over, once there was a juicier story to report about, unfortunately until then, it would be some horrid gossip to listen to and try not to explode about.

"I probably would have done the same thing, though a lot longer and a lot nastier." He laughed over his last bite of eggs, before moving onto his juice. Yes, nasty indeed.

"Much," he said. Andren shrugged when Harvey mentioned Olive. "I haven't seen her yet this morning. But it's Olive, she won't be very effected. Hell, she might even not notice." At least not at first. Or something like that. Andren wasn't the best at estimating Olive's levels of awareness; she was clumsy, but she gave great advice. What a paradox.

"I'd love to threaten them with physical harm, but I want to take the bastards by surprise," he said, winking at Harvey and taking a bite of the previously forgotten pastry. If he had been at home at the time the Daily Prophet headquarters would have had many, many bludgers fired at it by now.

Andren didn't have much of a temper, but this was the sort of thing that could set it off. It was lucky that he hadn't been anywhere he could do much actual damage.

Harvey had very rarely seen this side of Andren, and while it was highly amusing, the situation around it was not. He gave his friend credit for the ingenuity of his thought process. Yes, taking them by surprise would surely be much more interesting that just straight out threatening them. That could get him in trouble somehow no doubt.

It was good though, that he said Olive wouldn't much notice. Any of his sisters would be completely shattered and he, Bentley and Shay would have to pick up the pieces. Though they would be far less polite about it. Having an auror in training for brother would be highly useful if that were to ever occur. "Well, hopefully everything will fade away. I'm sure the stupid newspaper will already have some new nonsense to report about tomorrow." Harvey hoped so anyway. While obnoxious, they hardly reported on anything more than once, unless some new development was unearthed. It was sad, just sad, the focus they had.

Finishing up his glass of juice, he checked the big clock in the hall. They should probably get going. Many of the other students had already started to file out, headed toward their first class of the day. "We should probably head out." He said, reaching down for his bag on the floor, hefting it up onto his shoulder. It was heavier than usual; he had books to return to the library and would have to do so after class now, before lunch.

"Don't want to be late and get in any more trouble this morning." Though they hadn't started a fire int he Great Hall, he was sure the professors finishing up their own breakfasts had been keeping an eye on them, making sure they weren't causing trouble. Harvey and Andren had caused their fair share, so the professor's concerns were well-founded. Clapping a hand on his best mate's back he moved toward the hall doors, a wicked grin on his face. "We can plot further revenge on the way there."
