What: A collective coming out ball to announce the leaving of the school and the innocence of childhood behind and entering into the grand and mature world of the adults. The dress code is formal (with ball gowns and suits). There will be refreshments served and the Hogwarts band will be performing live music for attendants to dance to.

Who: The coming out ball is specifically for all female seventh year students. Their families and friends can attend, as can Hogwarts alumni, as well as any current student who is a fifth year and up.

Where: Hogwarts. The grand entrance of the debutantes will take place on the grand staircase of the school and then filter into the Great Hall, decorated elegantly, where refreshments, music, and dancing will take place. A new forum will be created for this event. All threads regarding this event will take place inside it.

Why: Hogwarts wants to proudly show off the finely sparkling girls that it has produced to society. Generally, it is more for the benefit of the families so that they do not have to pay for and host a ball of their own. It is extremely helpful for those whose families could not afford their own. Participation from the seventh years is optional, as some of the wealthier families find it beneath themselves to share a ball with those they believe are lower in status than they. The goal of it is to give an equal opportunity to all of the girls, just as they have done with their schooling.
