THE FAST TRACK TO AN ACCEPTED APPLICATION

· Birthdate: The current year and month is on the top of the board in the calendar section. We move in real time and our days correspond with the real days of the month, with only the year being different. For example, today is July 22nd, 2012. At Charming, it is July 22nd, 1882. Now, say that your character is 30 and his birthday is February 1st. If his birthday already passed (February comes before July, so he's already had it), you would subtract his age from the current year.

1883 (current year) - 30 (current age) = 1853 (date of birth)

If his birthday were October 1st, his birthday would not have passed yet. In this case, you would subtract his age from the year 1880.

1882 (last year) - 30 (current age) = 1852 (date of birth)

· Occupation: There is a list of open occupation positions at Hogwarts and Hogsmeade, though you're more than able to create your own so long as it is fluid with the setting. Depending on a person's social status, certain occupations were not socially acceptable in the time period and could result in a damaged reputation. Upper Class women were considered wealthy and well-bred enough to not have to work for a living. If they were to work for money, it would have meant that their father/husband could not provide for them. This does not however, mean that they could not help with charities. Men however, had a lot more freedom and were generally respected so long as they made a decent amount of money.

· Social Class: You can choose either upper, middle or lower. We don't mix them for the simplicity of user group sorting.

· Blood Status:

Two Muggle Parents = Muggleborn
One Muggle Parent, One Wizard Parent (Muggleborn) = Halfblood
One Muggle Parent, One Wizard Parent (Halfblood) = Halfblood
One Muggle Parent, One Wizard Parent (Pureblood) = Halfblood
One Muggleborn Parent, One Pureblood Parent = Halfblood
One Halfblood Parent, One Pureblood Parent = Halfblood
Two Muggleborn Parents = Halfblood
Two Halfblood Parents = Halfblood
Two Pureblood Parents = Pureblood

· Appearance: Make sure to mention their eye color and hair color as well as height and weight. A picture will not suffice. Please refrain from insisting that your character is "hot" or "beautiful" or "attractive" to everyone. Beauty is in the eye of the beholder. It is helpful to mention their wandhand and type of clothing they prefer. Keep in mind that during the period, the average height for a man would be about 5'6" and for a woman 5'2".

· History: All formats of histories are accepted, whether it's paragraph, interview, bullet points, narrative, etc. It is completely acceptable (and even encouraged) to have a character that does not have a tragic past. There are more people in the world who have relatively normal childhoods than those who do not. Also, it's best to explain (in as little as one sentence if that suits you) whether your character went to Hogwarts, how it went while they were there and what happened after they left. If they have an occupation, it's best to mention how they achieved that as well. If they are not a student at Hogwarts, you'll need to mention why they moved to Hogsmeade, which was only established/inhabited in 1877.

· Sample Roleplay Post: This isn't for us to judge whether or not you're good enough to play here. Everyone is welcome so long as they have a strong enough grasp of grammar and punctuation to be able to thrive in our community. The purpose of this is so that other members can get an idea of what style you roleplay in and see if it would work well with their own styles. The sample post doesn't have to be a fresh one for the particular character you're applying for. It can be from another site and another character, so long as it is your own.

· Work In Progress Applications: I can sometimes be forgetful and if the joining forum says "no new posts" I can forget to check the work in progress applications. Once your application has been finished being edited/filled out, please send me (Lola) a courtesy PM on Violet Ollivander's account.
