With the parade over, Evie had plenty of time before she needed to get ready for the evening performance. She hadn't been with this particular troupe of Carnies for long as she had only been in England for a few months. She had to admit she was enjoying the new scenery. Not to mention she had never been to an all-wizarding town. She had heard of them, but there were so few in the States that she had yet to experience one while traveling. Of course, it was her lineage, her magical lineage that had brought her to England in the first place and she was hoping a completely magical village would help her. She only had her father's surname to go on, her own surname at the moment, having chosen to take her father's name after her parents disowned her. Choosing not to dwell on such depressing thoughts, the twenty-five year old meandered through the Carnival. They were so quick and setting up and taking down such an immense expanse and so many structures it still amazed her, but since this was a wizarding Carnival, it went even faster still with the aid of magic. Evie's magic skills were rudimentary at best, but she knew enough to get by. She didn't need much, she was an elephant and horse trainer by nature and there was little magic required there, though her wand was always hidden in her costume somehow. With her parasol over her shoulder, she twisted it without knowing it, amused to see all of the children and adults alike with wide eyes and hopeful smiles. Evie knew she didn't have a particularly respectful job, but she did enjoy putting a smile on people's faces. Tucking a stray strand of her golden blonder hair behind her ear, Evie meandered through the various tents set up for their daytime activities. It was crowded, but she didn't mind, Evie was always her best in a crowd. Stopping as she noticed a person ahead of her drop something, she stooped to pick it up. "Excuse me!" She said loudly as the person was already a few steps beyond her. "Wait, you've dropped something!" She hurried behind them, trying to catch up.

Amelia was doing errands all day. It was one of these days, when she couldn't even sit for more than a few minutes. The dancers were getting prepared for the performance tonight and Amelia had to do all the dirty work. She had to make sure their dresses and shoes were clean, prepare food and then help them with anything else they needed. Luckily, today most of them decided to do everything without her help, expect Margaret. The girl was barely a few months older that sixteen, but for some reason she seemed to dislike Amelia and she always tried to slow her down whenever she had to do something important. Today, she decided that she needed some stupid necklace she lended to one of the circus freaks she called her friends, so Amelia had to bring it for her.
Luckily, she quickly find the girl Margaret lended her necklace too. She put it in her pocket and then she started walking back to where she was supposed to be in the first place.
The woman made her stop. Amelia's eyebrows frowned at the woman and then she realised that the necklace was no longer in her pocket. " Oh ma'am, thanks a lot!" Amelia exclaimed to the lady. Margaret would have killed her if she lost the necklace!

It had been a necklace she'd picked up and the young girl who had dropped it looked rather familiar. If Evie had to venture a guess, she was one of their own. As the girl turned to her, she was sure. It was Amelia, the poor girl the burlesque dances always too advantage of. Evie had a strong distaste for the burlesque dancers. Well, it was a mutual dislike really. The dancers had never really gotten along all that well with the animal trainers. Differences in opinion on what entertaining meant.
Another thing that bothered her, was their treatment of people like sweet little Amelia. Evie didn't know the young girl very well, but she was a hard worker, putting up with all of crap the dancers put her through without much complaint and that was something Evie could appreciate. Evie didn't know many of her traveling companions that well yet, considering she was fairly new to this troupe, but that wouldn't stop her for long.
"No worries dear, wouldn't want one of those hussies getting their knickers in a twist." She winked at Amelia, a playful smile tugging at the corner of her lops and lighting her eyes. "Busy, busy, busy little gal you are." She mused. Evie supposed she would have to head back and get ready herself soon, but she was enjoying her stroll, so wouldn't mind putting it off for a little longer.

Amelia couldn't help but smile at the woman's words. All these years she had learnt to respect the burlesque performers, but she still understood that some of them, or probably all of them had horrible personalities. It was probably fame that had changed them, Amelia always wondered if she was going to be turned into a primadona when her dream became reality.
" Thank you, again, ma'am." Amelia repeated quietly to the woman. She was rather afraid to find out what would happen if Margaret didn't have her necklace. Sometimes, Amelia couldn't help but wonder if the girl used to be in the upper class before she joined the carnival. Sometimes she acted as if she was the daughter of some important aristocrat.
" Your dress is really pretty, ma'am." Amelia commented and smiled to the blonde. Purple was always one of Amelia's favourite colours and this particular hue was rather pretty and looked good on the woman. Still, even in the ugliest colour, this dress would still be beautiful. Amelia doubted she would ever be able to possess such dress.

"Thank you Sweetheart." Evie smiled. It was a wonder such a sweet girl had survived working for those cold-hearted dancers was beyond her. "Purple is one of my favorite colors." She admitted, running her free hand over the skirt of her dress. Truthfully it was a trifle hot in the satin this time of day and she would relish in the relief of her costumes later. Of course when the sun went down it would be chilly, but under the tent it was always warm. Her performance costumes were for a lack of a better term, skimpy. Evie had never minded however. She was already looked down upon for her job so it didn't matter what she wore to do it.
"Are you heading back toward the dressing rooms?" She questioned, looking forward to where the young lady had been so keen to get earlier. "I'm heading that way myself. Care to walk with me?" Evie knew the poor girl probably had somewhere to be, so she should have felt free to say no, but on the off hand she wouldn't mind a little company, Evie had no qualms about dropping Amelia off to her tormentors and very kindly explain where she was.
"It's such a lovely day, I'd hate to hurry." Evie smiled, she couldn't help herself. It would be fun for her to make those dancers sweat it out a little bit. Of course it put poor Amelia in the middle. Then again, she supposed it didn't matter who she was assisting and in the end if she needed to be reassigned, Evie would happily take her on. She was a pretty girl, tiny, could work very easily with the horses.

" It's one of mine too!" Amelia said cheerfully to the woman. Well, she kind of loved all the bright colours. She had grown up among colors, it was normal for her to like them so much. In the brunette's opinion, carnival workers had much better clothes. They were not so boring and modest like the ones Hogsmeade's residents were wearing. Why was so scandalous to wear bright colours? Amelia was glad she was born in an enviroment where people did not care too much about reputation and beeing ladylake.
" Sure." Amelia replied to the woman with a smile. If Margaret yelled at her for being late she could simply say that her friend needed time to find where she had put the necklace. Besides, they had a show tonight and it wouldn't be wise of her to actually yell at her.
" Do you have a show tonight?" Amelia asked the woman as they walked. Perhaps she could sneak off and watch that one instead of the Burlesque dancer show. She already knew what was going to happen so it wouldn't be so exciting for the brunette.

As they fell into step, headed toward the dressing rooms, Evie chuckled when Amelia asked about her show. "Yes I do have a show tonight." Two in fact. "Horses first, followed by Sweet Pea." Sweet Pea was her large elephant. She was a true sweetheart, hence the name Sweet Pea. It was a very appropriate name. The carnival had acquired her just before Evie had signed on and they were not having much luck training her. Evie in the other hand, who had experience with elephants in her last job, knew exactly what to do. She highly suspected it was part of the reason the Hammonds hired her.
"You should stop by in your free time, I'll introduce you to Sweat Pea." Evie knew that the kids were always fascinated by the elephants. Such an exotic kind of creature was always intriguing to the children that wandered in and out of the carnival. It was something different, something they had never seen before and they enjoyed it. The smiled that appeared on their eager little faces always brought one to her face as well.
"I hope you stop by tonight, it's always quite the show." She was sure Amelia would enjoy the show. The little one was small enough too, if she was agile, Evie could train her to take her place some day... Unless she was planning on becoming a burlesque dancer. Evie couldn't really see that for Amelia's future. Of course, Evie, being ever the optimist, hoped the girl could get some schooling and get out of the carnie life; find something better.

Amelia had to admit, the animal shows seemed to be far more difficult than the burlesque ones. Animals were wild creatures, after all, and Amelia didn't want to be in a trainer's place if a wild animal decided to attack. She found animals adorable, but only from a safe distance. It was stupid of her, concidering she lived near animals, but anything larger than a dog or a cat just seemed scary to her.
" The dancers are going to practice tomorrow, so I will have plenty of free time." Amelia said to Evelyn and smiled. None of them noticed them when they were practicing so she could take a break. Expect some of them, most of the dancers treated Amelia almost well. Some viewed her as a potential enemy and others just didn't care about her because she was, after all, a kid. A pretty talented dancer, but still a kid.
" I will try to come." Amelia said to the woman, not wanting to promise anything. If she was lucky enough, none of the dancers would need her. There was a house elf there, after all, which could do some job as well.

"Don't stress about it." Evie assured Amelia. She didn't want the young girl to get into any trouble with the dancers, they were a finicky bunch. Evie knew that they could probably find lots of things for Amelia to do throughout the day just to be spiteful. If it was supposed to be a relaxed day they should just leave her alone.
"Have you seen any of the town?" She questioned, curious. Evie hadn't dared to venture out of the carnival yet. She supposed she probably should, considering her father was the reasons she'd come here in the first place. Of course that would require some effort and that as not always something Evie was ready to put forth. Getting here, to England had been enough of an effort on her part. Now she was just trying to enjoy the ride. It should have been a more urgent issue, she knew, but Evie was hesitant. This man she sought out, her biological father she never, knew was a like a mystery she wasn't entirely sure she wanted solved. It was scary, even at twenty-five, to think about her father. Her parents, or at least the people who had raised her and thrown her out had shown her little love after they found out she was a witch and that her mother had been involved in an affair. Thank goodness for school.
"I've been meaning to wander out, but just haven't gotten there." An all-wizarding town seemed like an unusual thing, considering she had always been in mixed living before this carnival. She was intrigued what it would be like to walk down the street and not have to hide who she was. Evie had always, especially as a child, hid inside herself, the outward bravado she put on was not truly who she was.

Amelia had no free time to visit the town. Besides, she was sure that if she tried to go for a walk there she would surely get lost and then who would search for her? Not the burlesque dancers, that was for sure. She was almost fifteen years old and she would soon join them on the stage and one dancer less was less competition for all of them. A lot of people told Amelia how talented she was and that probably worried some of the dancers.
" No, not really." Amelia replied to the woman and shook her head. She was sure that Evelyn had been there more than once, but she was an adult, while Amelia just a child. Besides, Evelyn was nobody's slave, when she didn't have to practise she could go wherever she wanted.
Then, Evelyn said that she had never gone there either. Amelia looked at her with little surprise, but she assumed that Evelyn was just working too hard. " I only want to go there for Honeyduke's" Amelia commented. One of the burlesque dancers told her about the shop and the delicious sweets it sold. Amelia wouldn't probably afford anything in there, but there were always some free samples.

Evie pondered about the town, wondering just what was there. She had no idea just how to go about even inquiring about her father or if he even had any connections to this town. It would be hard to start, but she supposed that she had to start somewhere. The town records might be a good place to start. A weekday with fewer shows would leave her plenty of time to investigate. Not to mention, if she and Amelia went once beforehand, she would have a better idea of where to go. There was no need to drag the young girl on a boring hunt for information. They could go out, enjoy themselves and then Evie would return another time.
"Perhaps you and I should venture out before we leave." She offered. It would be nice to have a little company if she chose to venture out into town. As they neared the different quarters for the various acts, Evie went to go left toward her own animals, pausing before she turned away from Amelia. "Do let me know if you'd like to go. I'd like to have a look around, we can visit Honeydukes and have a look around." Evie had no idea what kind of a store this Honeydukes was, but they could certainly stop there if Amelia wanted to. Surely it was something of a sweet shop, or something geared toward the younger crowd. Evie had a sweet tooth herself, so she wouldn't mind that at all.
Evie smiled warmly at Amelia. She was a good girl, certainly a hard worker and would one day make a great addition to whatever act she landed in. "Thanks for the company Sweetheart, let's plan on going into town sometime next week yes?" It could certainly be a fun day.

Evelyn wanted to take her to the town? Amelia smiled at the idea of going to Hogsmeade. "I would love to come!" she answered with a smile. The only problem was that she had no money on her, so she wouldn't be able to buy any sweets, but she could always find some. She had found some coins around the carnival which usually belonged to visitors who had lost them.<p>
"Next week sounds nice, I think I will have some free time." she added with a nod. Evelyn was definitely not as bad as the dancers. Maybe she could one day concider working with animals. If she was not afraid of dogs and cats. " I'm afraid I have to go now, though." Amelia murmured with an apologetic smile.
