Daisuke was fascinated by the town of Irvingly; while he was used to living near muggles (as every town in the world exempting Hogsmeade had muggles in it), Dais had never been near muggles that knew about the wizarding world before.

He had toyed with the thought of walking to Irvingly until he found out that that would take all day. Instead Dais had apparated into the casino, which was much faster although also far less athletic.

He didn't lurk very long there. Japan had casinos, too, and gambling was not something that interested Daisuke very much simply because there was so little control one could have over it. On top of that, Dais could not hold a conversation in English, so he was entirely certain that he could not gamble in it.

Dais decided to try and find some muggles. Seeing as there only seemed to be two neighborhoods in Irvingly, he supposed that he had a good chance of finding the right place. He had his hands in his pockets and whistled to himself as he wandered.

It was only when he was deep in the heart of one of these neighborhoods that Dais decided to try and test his theory. Unfortunately, he could not just ask someone.

He pulled his wand from his pocket and twirled it between his fingers. He did not cast magic - the Ministries involved here and the International Quidditch Association had made it quite clear that he was not to do that - but there were no rules against trying to get a reaction, were there?

Trixie was rather excited about the Quidditch Cup, even if she was never particularly interested in Quidditch herself. She was excited because Japanese people would come to Britain, which meant that she could test the little knowledge in the Japanese language she had.

She had been home for the summer break for about three days now and Trixie decided to visit Irvingly along with the chaperon the Brownings had picked for her. She was a Japanese lady, which was only convenient because if Trixie stumbled into a Japanese person and she didn't know some words she would be able to translate for them. But the Ravenclaw hoped that it wouldn't happen.

The two flood to the casino and then they started walking around the town. There were two neighbourhoods and Trixie honestly didn't know which one was what. They headed on the smaller one, as it would be less likely that they would get lost there.

After some walking, Trixie saw something that would probably cause a muggle to flee in panic. There was a man holding his wand out (a Japanese one, on top of that!) and Trixie couldn't stop herself from saying in Japanese. "You probably shouldn't do that."

OOC | Although Trixie knows some basic Japanese, unless it is 'yes' or 'no' what she says feel free to have Dais think that she's abysmal at it. xD

The sound of his own language - his own slightly mangled language, but it was Japanese nonetheless - startled Dais. He turned to the girl.

Regardless of the girl's pronunciation proficiency (or lack thereof) it was very, very interesting to see a young white girl that could speak Japanese - and the voice had been far too young for Daisuke to give the chaperon more than just a passing glance.

He supposed that he had no right to judge her for her messy pronunciations when he had not bothered to learn a single word of English.

"Probably not," Dais admitted, although he did not stop twirling his wand. "You speak Japanese?"

More of a statement than a question, in his mind - but much less abrasive than 'you're not a muggle, are you?' which was his first instinct.

Trixie knew that learning Japanese wouldn't just be for the sake of learning it. To know that she could actually communicate with a Japanese person in the mother tongue was a great feeling. Sure, they probably couldn't have deep conversations as her level of Japanese still wasn't that great, but she could mostly understand him and that was great.

"My adoptive family has Japanese roots." Trixie explained to the man. Joseph had married Miyako and they had adopted quite a few Japanese ways of living. Like the kimonos. Trixie loved all the kimonos she had received, even if she found herself completely graceless and unattractive in them. She never considered a girl of grace, but in her English clothes she at least looked less like a dead horse.

"My adoptive mother comes from the Shirakawa family." she continued, in case the man might know about it. As far as she was concerned, the Shirakawas were a prestigious family in Japan. And Hiroshi Shirakawa played in the Japanese team.

Adoptive family? How very intriguing. Daisuke slipped his wand into his pocket, effectively distracted from his possibly-a-little-illegal actions by this English girl.

"The Shirakawas?" he echoed, actually mildly impressed. (Although he still was unsure as to what to make of the adoption thing. Perhaps the girl was a ward of the family? Dais was unsure as to what to make of a lower-class girl being brought to the upper-class through such means, although the girl seemed perfectly well behaved.)

"A very respectable family. One of my teammates is a Shirakawa." He paused. "I'm Tanaka Daisuke, second-string seeker. My brother is one of the first-string chasers."

Trixie was happy to have stumbled upon a Japanese player. She was not that interested in Quidditch, but few of her peers would have the luck to meet a player in person. They were surely very busy around this time.

"I am pleased to meet you Mr. Tanaka!" Trixie said in her broken Japanese. His family was surely a very Quidditch-oriented one, if both he and his brother played Quidditch.

"I am sure that you will both represent Japan with honour." she added rather shyly. "Though I must admit, that I do not expect Japan to do bad given your opponent."

He was fairly certain that Yoshirou would do better at bringing honor to their country and family, but Daisuke decided not to mention that. After all, he had never done anything too terrible, had he?

Daisuke grinned. "No," he said, "I expect that we shall do quite well. I have never seen the French play, but they are so... Well, they're the French."

In his mind, Japan's victory was almost guaranteed. He had not even bothered to be worried about it.
