As there was no breaking news report in the Daily Prophet, I can only assume your shop did not burn to the ground as you hoped it would not? In that case, your employees do you credit, and I can only hope that their capability will allow for our spending more time together. If, of course, your invitation still stands? My schedule is unforgivably full but – perhaps at the risk of perhaps being too bold, and if that’s the case please forgive me – I would make time for you. Our conversation, after all, was cut unforgivably short!

Though I admit - rather boldly myself - that I am rather eager to be in your presence once more. After all our last meeting was in fact terribly short.

My supervisor is not so cruel as to deny me at least one day free from my duties: I’ve been working tremendously hard after all, and if there is yet no rule against working an employee until they collapse of exhaustion then there should be! As it happens, Miss Herbert has allowed me a day off this coming Friday, and I so dearly hope you are similarly free. I am sure, if pressed, my Aunt would be happy to accompany us wherever we choose to go. I don’t see why we should have to bother with a chaperone when I am certain you are perfectly honourable but my mother would never forgive me and neither would society I imagine!

How very convenient that the day your supervisor allows you reprieve from work is the day that I too have decided to leave my shop to my employees. As such I rather think that the coming Friday will work splendidly. As for what we shall fill our time with, I must admit I am quite unsure. Perhaps a visit to Irvingly if you are interested. I hear that there is a quaint little cafe there. Regardless, I am free to do whatever your heart desires.

My dear Mr Scrivenshaft,

Are you a mind reader, as well as an inventor? My experience of Hogsmeade is sadly limited, but my experience of Irvingly is non-existent. I’ve spent my fair share of time surrounded by muggles – they far outnumber the wizarding community in Lancashire, and the O’Neill family is virtually the only magical family in the immediate vicinity – but the prospect of visiting a locality made up of both living in tandem is fascinating. Have you had much experience with muggles? Personally, I don’t see the difference between them and us, besides the obvious and magic hardly makes us superior. Muggles struggle for all they have – we, on the other hand, need simply wave our wands! Which of us, in that case, is the most superior?

Should I meet you at your shop, Mr Scrivenshaft? My Aunt will be perfectly willing to chaperone us given a little persuasion, but I warn you now there will be questions. Margaret O’Neill is a perfectly respectable woman but woe betide anyone who crosses her path!

Dearest Miss O'Neill,

I have no small amount of experience with muggles as my mother was one and she was my primary caretaker as a child. As such I rather find I have a fondness for muggles and the simplicity with which they live. I find that wizards and witches live too much in haste - everything is so easy with magic. Muggles take more time, it seems, as they've no choice but to. But I digress. We shall have time to speak of such things this coming friday.

If it suits you fine, you can meet me outside my shop at noon. Of course any time that works for you will work fine for me. Do let me know what you think. I look forward to hearing from you again.

Noon suits me perfectly, and I look forward to discussing muggles with you at greater length, and in some semblance of their habitat. And your mother, I hope, if the request isn’t too bold? She sounds like a fascinating woman, and must be nothing short of extraordinary to have raised such a broad-minded man as you. My own mother affects airs and graces that would put even the Lestranges to shame, but Mrs Scrivenshaft sounds quite the opposite.
