Exam season. It had never been Tig's favorite time of year but this year it had grown increasingly worse. She had anticipated a fair bit of extra unpleasantness being that it was OWL year but not quite as much unpleasantness as she had been greeted with. There was so much to revise, so much to learn and unlike the homework she often tried to shirk onto other people, she had to do it herself because it wasn't possible to learn on the behalf of someone else. She really thought there ought to be some sort of knowledge potion that would instantly make her knowledgeable in all things. Yes, she would like that very much, then she could talk with her friends instead of having to sit down and stare at reams upon reams of parchment and piles of books.

Seemingly giving up on life, she groaned and buried herself in the book she clasped in her hands and tried to tell herself it would be over soon. There was only a couple more weeks left of school, she could survive those and then she would be free! Free to return home and work on begging her parents to take her to a Quidditch match or three. Ever since news of the World Cup had reached the news she had been dying of excitement. She had written already to her parents requesting that they take her to see at least one match but the response she had received hadn't been particularly receptive to the idea.

Still staring aimlessly at the page in her book, she slowly lowered it and was surprised to see that someone had sat down opposite her. It was quite the surprise! ""

The only thing that kept Brynn from completely hating OWLs was that she could drop all the classes she didn't want/need afterwards. Which meant no History of Magic or Herbology or Ancient Runes. She could just keep Potions and Transfiguration along with some stupid and easy classes like Divination and Music. Her two final years would certainly be easier and more fun.

After she struggled to study DADA alone, without any distractions, Brynn gave up and decided to seek some company. Even someone who wasn't her friend would be better than no company at all. Brynn was not particularly good at focusing when she was all alone. Her mind kept travelling to completely different matters. Like dresses and parasols and tea parties she would attend this summer.

When Brynn spotted Antigone, it was clear that she wouldn't be able to focus at all, with company or not. "I hate werewolves." Brynn declared as she sat opposite of her friend. "And also Unforgivable Curses and hexes and everything."

Tig was glad of all people that Brynn had been the one to sit down at her table. She really didn't want to focus and Brynn was the best of all distractions she could possibly have wished for. "I hate studying for exams even more," she complained, immediately joining in with Brynn's displeasure. "I have to do Prefect duties too! It's awful! It's like they don't want me to be happy ever again!"

She sighed exasperatedly and closed the book she had been glaring at only moment earlier. She wished desperately that it was summer already and the Coming Out Ball; she wasn't to debut but she was actually allowed to attend for the first time which was exciting nonetheless. It didn't help thinking that her own Coming Out would be depressing seeing as she wouldn't get her own as she was already betrothed. "I can't wait until summer!" she declared with a groan.

Brynn was rather envious to find out that Tig was picked as the prefect back in July. Being a prefect meant that she could take points from people she disliked and that she could be one of the first debutantes to walk down the stairs. The duties were hardly that pleasant, though. Brynn wouldn't have the patience to help stupid first years and patrol corridors.

"This summer will be so great." Brynn commented with a rather dreamy expression. "We can finally attend the Coming Out Ball and I am sure that Mother will take me to any balls she'll attend this season!"

"How can you be excited? We're both betrothed, no handsome men are going to ask us to dance when we're already destined for someone else! I was so looking forward to my Coming Out before all of this, I hate being betrothed!" She managed to hate her betrothal even more than she hated homework, studying and exams which was saying something.

She didn't understand how Brynn could feel so optimistic, she felt like her life was already over before she had even done anything. "Mr. Lestrange isn't even a quidditch player! Think of all the foreign quidditch players that'll be around, it's not fair! What if I like one of them better and he is just as rich and handsome and well connected as Mr. Lestrange? I shall die of despair this summer." She crumpled up her face and stared ruefully at the book in front of her.
