Announcements
Events for May: 05/01 - ?: SWP2: Hogsmeade Trail | 05/31: Hogwarts' Annual Coming Out Ball
May 20th @ 10:55am —
A day late due to unexpected circumstances on my part, but round 2 of the expeditions has just been posted up. Also, Posting Wizard signups are now open. Make sure you sign up before June 1st for a chance to win the Posting Wizard stamp!

May 16th @ 12:54pm —
Expeditions have begun! Please make sure to read the OOC Rules for expeditions before you post in your group's thread. Good luck!

May 15th @ 8:03pm —
Activity checks are in the process of being wrapped up. If your character was removed and you would like them reactivated, please post in the Maintenance thread. Pretty pretty pretty please do not PM Lola with reactivation requests. Also when being reactivated, make sure you check your claims - you might need to re-claim them. Expeditions start tomorrow! Double and triple check your groups before noon CDT and make sure any characters you want participating have been requested to be reactivated. Characters inactive by noon on May 16th will be removed from the expedition groups.

May 12th @ 9:38am —
The expeditions have been moved up to May 16th, rather than the 18th. You can read the reasoning here.

May 10th @ 4:36pm —
A big congrats to our newest cleaning mod, Kayte! You'll be a great addition to the staff! <3

May 10th @ 1:35pm —
A lot of announcements today: the OOC forums have been reorganized. Claims and lists are all in Character Development now, while the documentations and pre-made characters have their own subforums inside. The stamp information has its own subforum as well. Chat and Stuff has been renamed to the more eloquent Charmers' Chit Chat. There is also a brand spanking new Haiku stamp up for grabs. Lastly, expeditions for SWP2 will begin on Friday, May 18th.

May 5th @ 12:16pm —
Due to the overwhelming number of characters that were drafted, (you guys are awesomely excited) the limit to the number of characters you can sign up is a hearty ten. We can't have all of Hogsmeade going, now can we? ;3

May 4th @ 10:06am —
There has been a new development regarding the draft - click here to read more!

May 2nd @ 1:07pm —
There have been a lot of questions regarding the sitewide plot, so to clear things up of how the exploring will work, see this post. If you have any more questions about it, please post as a response to that thread.

May 1st @ 10:18am —
Sitewide Plot Two: Hogsmeade Trail has been kicked off with an extremely important Daily Prophet article. Our map has been updated, and the draft OOC signups are located here. Exploring is scheduled to start in mid-May, so make sure your character gets all of their supplies/group members that they might need!

April 25th @ 2:48pm —
The De Montfault Theatre plot forum has been deleted and all remaining threads moved to the Past forum. There is a new sitewdie plot (SWP2) on the horizon - keep an eye out, as it could potentially change your character's life forever. More information will be released at a later date. >;D

April 22nd @ 9:26am —
The Solar Eclipse Viewing Party forum has been created in the IC Elsewhere category. Remember, those who are able (or invited to go) can travel there by floo powder from the Lestrange's home in Wellingtonshire.

April 15th @ 10:54am —
The special character has been released! For those of you who have been holding out, you can now make a hag! Activity checks are in the process of being done. If you need your character reactivated, please post in the Maintenance thread. Lastly, Emily has stepped down from her mod duties so that she can have more time with her babies. We wish her the best of luck! <3 And congrats to Kat, who has been promoted to Cleaning Mod!

April 12th @ 4:24pm —
The lovely Kat has taken over the Daily Prophet. If you're looking to get an article published, contact her, rather than Emily.

April 11th @ 2:35pm —
The Plottage forum has been cleaned out. All networking should be done through the postlog forum and PMs. Also a reminder that activity checks will be done in four days. If your character hasn't been posted with for 60 days (two activity checks), they will be switched to inactive.

April 3rd @ 7:05pm —
The internship/job fair subforum has been created. Go out there and get your characters a job or internship! ;D

April 3rd @ 7:05pm —
The networking system has changed. The new rules can be found here. Only specific plot type threads will be allowed in the newly renamed Plottage forum, whilst networking type of requests should be transferred over into the Postlogs, Profiles and Stamps forum. We ask that you refrain from posting new networking threads inside the Plottage forum as well as wrap up any conversations that you might currently be having. Networking type of threads left in the Plottage forum after April 10th will be deleted.

Daily Prophet
Extra! Extra! Read all about it! The Daily Prophet is a staff run newspaper with members submitting articles to be published. The Daily Prophet covers all IC happenings that are worth mentioning to the rest of the wizarding society. Any article published can (and probably will) be read by the other characters in the game.

The Hogsmeade Trail
The Ministry of Magic has decided to expand Hogsmeade and without asking for volunteers first, has devised a draft to get its needed explorers. These expeditions will be roleplayed here, with each group having their own thread. Good luck and happy trails!

Hogsmeade Station
The only train station that travels to and from Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry, Hogsmeade Station is your one-stop-shop for all transportation needs. Almost kitschy in atmosphere, the station is made of big, melodramatic archways and high, vaulted ceilings that serve little purpose. The colors tend to be equally gaudy, and artwork, upholstery, trains, and floor tiles range in color from royal purple to neon orange. A handful of restaurants and giftshops can also be found within.

Bursting with activity at all hours of the day, every respectable (and those less so) establishment can be found along this avenue, wide enough to accommodate the constant rush of pedestrians and vehicles. Wellingtonshire
A cut above all of the rest, Wellingtonshire is the residential lane for those of considerable means. Though the houses are tightly compacted and built somewhat like miner's homes, the outer facades are deceiving. Enchanted to hold more than they ought, the homes of Wellingtonshire are exceptionally and intimidatingly grand on the inside, and few pedestrians litter the immaculately kept streets for fear of being thought of as potential thieves.

Padmore Park
A beautiful and colorful garden has been carefully cultivated over the spring and is now ready for summer use. It is large but still manages to be cozy. The green leafage is spread all around with bright and colorful flowers sprinkled thickly throughout. Among the sprawling grass and a shady copse of twisted trees are paved paths, perfect for walking or bicycling. Different benches are scattered about, some shaded some in the sun, for those who merely want to rest. The lawn is open enough to offer a game of croquet or lawn tennis, or even play host to a picnic. A large pond can be found off to one side of the garden, an inlet from the Black Lake. Several charmingly decorated boats are enchanted to give lazy and gentle rides around the pond, though the spells are not strong enough to resist the tampering from troublemakers. As far as anyone knows, there aren't any creatures that live in the lake aside from a couple of gentle giant goldfish. Several families of ducks have decided to make the place their home, as have dozens of songbirds. In the evenings, the park is lit up by golden orbs that levitate above the walking paths. They have been known to become attached to a person and to try to follow them home, so keep an eye out. A person of any class is welcome here, though most stick to their own social circles and ignore the rest.

Bartonburg
Home of the middle class, the Bartonburg District is a modest but extremely dense bit of Hogsmeade, holding more than half of its inhabitants in a series of townhouses that all interconnect in various, confusing ways. Homes are known to be stacked aslant on top of one another, though naturally the magic ingrained into the architecture makes the homes of the Bartonburg District sturdy, cozy, and just big enough for your average family.

The Slums
The Slums are just as glamorous as they sound. Built amidst a din of less than savory people and street purveyors, The Slums are where the lowest class dwells. Small, squat, shack-lack buildings line the streets, which are littered with garbage and muck. The increasingly popular brothel, Maison de Vénus, is tucked away on one of the cramped and dirty side streets. Though during the day The Slums are unpleasant, it's the night which really gives the area a bad name — even those who live here are rarely seen outdoors after nightfall, as the shadiest of characters can be found in every nook and cranny.

Asphodel Cemetery
Named for the asphodel flowers that grow wild around the tombstones, Asphodel Cemetery is a quiet and mysterious place when the sun is shining. In the evening, it's been rumored to be haunted by the most terrifying ghosts who howl and whine throughout the late hours. Those who visit at night have been said to have never been the same - some say cursed, some say terrified into craziness and others say it's unexplainable. It is tucked away on a hill that overlooks the village of Hogsmeade. The only way to reach it is by following winding paths through the village that lead out to the slums and slightly through the Forbidden Forest. The graves are new, with the oldest being only a few years old.

Gate of Hogwarts
Locked for most of the school year, the great iron great rises upwards as far as the eye can see. It can only be opened by the Headmaster himself and separates the grounds of the school from the city of Hogsmeade.

The Black Lake
Cold and mysterious, the Black Lake is exactly the way it sounds - the depths in the middle of the lake are so deep that the water takes on a blackish hue. However, the closer to shore it becomes the bluer the water appears. It is rumored that a mercolony has been established underneath the depths.

The Forbidden Forest
CENTAUR HERDVAMPIRE CAVERNSThick and dark, the Forbidden Forest offers many dangers for those adventurous enough to breech its borders. Magical creatures of all kinds call the forest home, though not all are friendly. Please note that Hogwarts students are strictly forbidden from entering the forest, and risk punishment from the Headmaster. Enter the forest at your own risk.

Outside the Castle
QUIDDITCH PITCHAs wide and varied as the rooms of the school itself, the school grounds extend for what seems like eternity. However, there are certain landmarks students learn to identify as the brink of permissible exploration. The Whomping Willow, for example, marks one extreme. Overall, the grounds are beautiful, even with its occasionally violently vile quirks.

The Great Hall
When not being used for meals — The Great Hall is full around breakfast, lunch, and dinner, during which lavish meals are provided for students and staff alike — the hall is a common place for students to meet in order to talk, study, and generally mingle, especially during the colder, soggier months. The room is amorphous in appearance: the ceiling is alternately starlit, filled by floating candles, garnished with garishly opulent colors, or decorated for the holidays. The tapestries on the walls likewise change depending on the headmaster's mood. The only solid features are the four tables for the four houses, the staff table at the front of the room, and the headmaster's podium.

Classrooms
The classrooms of Hogwarts come in all shapes and sizes, generally dependent upon the Professor's preference. Large and spartan; small and cozy; midsized and eccentric — like most things at the school, every aspect of every room is exceptionally protean, and given to change at any moment. The Headmaster and Professors' offices, respectively, can also be located here.

The Library
Set on the second floor of the castle, there are several large floor-to-ceiling windows that give a serene view of the lake and forest below. There tens of thousands of books on tens and thousands of shelves that cover every subject imaginable. Near the back of the library is the Restricted Section, which is roped off in order to discourage wanderers. A student must have a note from a teacher in order to be given permission to enter. There are intricately carved wooden tables scattered about the large room that are perfect for studying.

Corridors
The corridors of Hogwarts are just as varied as the classrooms - some are wide, some narrow, some tall, some you have to duck in order to pass through and some seem to shift direction as you pass by. They lead to the different rooms in the castle, whilst some lead to nothing at all. Hospital Wing

Gryffindor Common Room
Located on the seventh floor, Gryffindor tower is a tall and imposing section of the castle. The entrance is hidden behind a painting of the Fat Lady, who often entertains herself by forcing students to listen to her sing horribly off-key before admitting them. Once she does decide to swing open, a round opening in the wall is revealed. The room is decorated with comfortably arm chairs, sofas, tables and a fireplace. It is a common hang out place for Gryffindors. Two staircases lead in opposite directions on one end of the room, with one leading to the girls' dormitory and the other leading to the boys'. Should a boy decide to try and climb the girls' staircase, it will set off a wailing klaxon charm and transfigure into a staircase - sending the boy down to the bottom with a noisy and embarrassing fanfare.

Hufflepuff Common Room
The Hufflepuff Common Room can be found by entering a door to the right of the main staircase in the entrance hall and descending a flight of stairs. It is located near the kitchens and is hidden behind a still life painting. Hufflepuff pride is evident in the cheery shades of yellow strewn about in different hangings and furniture. The chairs are squashy and comfortable with tables and sofas scattered about. A fireplace is located to one side of the room. On either side of the fireplace are two tunnels that end in perfectly rounded doors - one leads to the girls' dormitory while the other leads to the boys'.

Ravenclaw Common Room
Ravenclaw tower is located on the west side of the castle. The entrance is reached by climbing a tightly winding spiral staircase that starts on the fifth floor. The door is guarded by a bronze knocker in the shape of an eagle. Rather than ask a password like the other common room guardians, the eagle asks a question. Once answered correctly, he will allow entrance and swing the door open. The common room is decorated in shades of navy and bronze, with armchairs and sofas as well as tables and bookcases neatly placed about. The room is wide and airy. A starry cushy rug is set near the fireplace while the ceiling of the room is painted with matching stars. The windows are arched and give a breathtaking view of the surrounding mountains. On the other side of the entrance is a door that leads to the dormitories. Next to it is a white marble life-sized statue of Helena Ravenclaw, complete with her diadem.

Slytherin Common Room
Accessed through a tunnel that leads to underneath the Black Lake, the Slytherin common room is dark and cold. It is dungeon like in appearance, with low ceilings, greenish lamps and furniture and skulls everywhere. Candles sit on almost every surface, their wax having dripped into piles underneath them. The fireplace is lit with a blue-green flame, though it doesn't offer much warmth. A small iced over pool is located to one side of the room. If a student is lucky, they could catch a glimpse of a mermaid. A bit father from the pond is a pair of tunnels that lead to the girls' and boys' dormitories.

London
Predominantly consisting of muggles, wizarding families must be sure to keep themselves hidden while in London. The only place safe from prying eyes is Diagon Alley, the wizard shopping center. Most stores however, have picked up and moved to Hogsmeade to get better business. The alley is quiet and dark, with most shops boarded up.
