Full Name: Harley Quinn McLaggen
Nicknames: Harls, HQ
Birthdate: 20 June 1865
Current Age: 17
Occupation: Student
Hogwarts House: Slytherin
Wand: Twelve inches, powdered baby unicorn horn and ashwinder ash core, blackwood
Blood Status: Pureblood
Social Class: Middle class
Family:
Robb Edward McLaggen, 44, father: Harley is on positive terms with her father. She enjoys that he is the patriarch of the entire McLaggen family clan, now that his father is gone, and really enjoys all of the family reunions. Robb is a family man and loyal, but he is also loyal to what he does, and nothing can come between that, not even his family. Robb is a stern man and that reflects in his parenting style. He likes his children to behave properly and appropriately, despite the fact he has dumped all of his goals and dreams onto his daughters.
Talisa Sophie McLaggen (nee Hagrid), 40, mother: Although she likes her mother well enough, Harley can’t say she’s on the best of terms with Talisa. While Robb was grooming his daughters to take over the family business and be more men than women, their mother was trying the opposite. Harley, who has been raised to believe her father was the head of the family and his word is law, feels as though her mother was being traitorous towards her father in trying to shape her and Harper into prissy women when their father was trying to do otherwise.

Haydn Queenie McLaggen, 17, sister, student: Harper, Harley’s twin sister, is her best friend and other half. The two are two peas in a pod and have extremely similar attitudes towards everything. Although older than her twin by five minutes, Harley has never rubbed that in her sister’s face and no one would be able to tell the difference. Neither really has a holier-than-thou attitude in regards to the other, and often use the fact that they’re identical to confuse people they both like and dislike. The twins enjoy the havoc it creates in life.
Hadrien ______ McLaggen, 6, brother: Harley’s younger brother, Hadrien, isn’t the smartest thing around but he’s cunning in his own ways. He uses his age to his advantage, but oftentimes Harley isn’t sure whether he’s being cunning and using their mother or if he’s just a big cry baby. Some days she enjoys his company more than others, and when push comes to shove she’ll defend him to her death, but Harley would much rather spend time with her cousins closer in age than with her younger brother.

Appearance:
Harley is rather tall for a girl, standing at five feet eight inches. She towers over most other young women her age, and even her mother and her father. No one knows where her height comes from, except for a distant cousin of her mother’s. Her hair is a dark brown, the same as everyone in her family’s, and her eyes a green blue the color of sea water. She likes to wear clothes that are comfortable over clothes that are period appropriate, and enjoys the feel of leather against her skin more than anything else. Harley is naturally left handed, and though there have been many attempts to force her to be right hand dominant, she continues to use her left hand for all things.
History:
Harley Quinn McLaggen was born seventeen minutes before her twin sister, Haydn Queenie McLaggen, making her the first daughter and first child born to Robb and Talisa McLaggen.

The couple, old blood and relatively old money (though the family sits comfortable in middle class), hadn’t waited long after getting married to have children. Both Robb and Talisa were relatively young when they first tried to have a child. Talisa was only seventeen, her husband twenty one. The pregnancy ended in a relatively early miscarriage that devastated the couple. After Talisa’s mother assured her that miscarriages were fairly common, if not normal, the couple resumed trying for a child. They were seemingly blessed as Talisa quickly found herself with child once more, though the pregnancy would end in a miscarriage once again. Determined to give her husband a child, and hopefully a male, Talisa’s third pregnancy she kept to herself until she was out of the first trimester. Elated to have made it so far, Talisa arranged a party in order to tell her husband the wonderful news. And, wonderful it was for a few months. Talisa went into labor far too early for her pregnancy and had a hard labor lasting more than thirty six hours. In the end, she delivered a still born baby boy. The McLaggen’s put their son to rest in a grave in their backyard, and Talisa planted a tree above the grave.

It would take two more miscarriages, one more early delivery, a baby boy that would last no more than several hours and two more years before Talisa’s body could handle a pregnancy. Robb kept her on bed rest the minute he found out she was with child, and within seven months’ time, she delivered not only one but two babies- both daughters. Talisa refused to hold her daughters, feeling as though she had let her husband down by providing him living daughters but no living sons. It wasn’t until she realized that Robb was elated to just have a living child that Talisa broke down and held her newborn daughters for the first time. Despite knowing how much her husband wanted children, Talisa had no idea how he was planning on raising their daughters.

From the time Harley and Haydn were little, Robb treated the girls a bit more delicately than he would’ve treated any sons, but he certainly didn’t treat them like daughters. In his eyes, his wife had failed at giving him any proper heirs, and his blood could be passed through his daughters, so he might as well teach them and teach them well. No one would be able to say that his daughters were not formidable forces, or that they could not run the family business. Harley took to her father’s teachings almost immediately, proving to have a head for mathematical calculations and memorization. He swelled with pride when he saw how well Harley was doing in regards to the business aspect of things.

Talisa was less enthused about what Robb was doing with their daughters. Every spare minute the girls had, Talisa would take them and instruct them in womanly ways. Despite always crooning about how to always listen to their father and never dispute what he said, Talisa would go behind his back and teach her daughters to ignore whatever their father was teaching them. For this, Harley developed a dislike towards her mother. After all, the woman was two faced and could hardly be trusted. While she enjoyed her mother’s company on a general basis, Harley ignored most of what her mother said to her.

Harley displayed magic at a young age, to both of her magical parents’ delights. At the age of two, Harley managed to make the family’s kitchen burn in non-destructive flames. The flames were emerald green and blazed for hours; everyone was afraid to touch them because no one knew how they would react. It took five hours for the flames to die out and everyone to realize they had been non-destructive. No one knows what set them off or what the flames could do, but it was assumed that Harley had made floo flames pop up and engulf the kitchen.

Life continued as such, with Harley and Haydn receiving lessons from their mother on how to be proper young women and lessons from their father on how to be cunning business women. Harley took less to their mother’s lessons than their father’s, but muddled through them no less. Talisa and Robb were her parents, and regardless of how traitorous she believed her mother to be, Talisa was still just that- her mother. And traitor or not, she still ruled the roost when their father wasn’t around. Harley learned from a very young age that living with an unhappy mother meant living a very unhappy life.

When Haydn and Harley turned eleven, they received their letters to Hogwarts, and were appropriately ecstatic to go. Robb left his wife home and scooped up his daughters, immediately taking them to Diagon Alley to purchase their school supplies. He bought them a gorgeous black owl with gold eyes and cold colouring throughout her feathers. The girls, in the same thought, instantly named her Reaper from their family’s coat of arms, a gold scythe against a black background. Aside from Reaper, Robb bought the girls each their own personal pets- Harley chose a cat. The cat was small, smallest of it’s litter, white with grey markings on it’s coat. Harley named her kitten with it’s white and grey coat and emerald eyes Jewel. After they chose their pets, Harley and Haydn were taken to get their books, their cauldrons and other potions supplies, their robes, and finally… their wands. Harley went through at least a dozen wands before finding the one that was perfect for her. Twelve inches in length, with a core of ashwinder ash and powdered young unicorn horn (which, from what Harley knew of unicorns, was gold- a sign, she thought), black as night made completely out of blackwood. From the minute Mr. Ollivander opened the box and pulled the wand from it’s velvet casing, Harley was enamored by it. She knew that it must be the wand for her. When she wrapped her fingers around the grip of the wand, she knew beyond the shadow of a doubt that it would be her wand. Mr. Ollivander and the wand agreed.

At school, Harley was quickly sorted into Slytherin. The hat had a minor debate between Slytherin and Gryffindor for the older of the McLaggen twins, but in the end the hat decided that Harley was more about doing things for herself and sent her on her way to the house of green and silver. There she would feel comfortable and make her home for the next seven years.

Harley quickly made friends that were not her twin sister, though she and her sister remained as close as ever. Harley did moderately well in school, not exceedingly well but she was far from failing her classes. She proved quickly to excel in classes that required memorization, and did well in Defense Against the Dark Arts, Charms and Transfigurations. When third year came around, she chose arithmancy as her elective, due in part to it’s mathematical nature. As she expected, Harley excelled.

The summer between fourth and fifth years, Harley and Haydn went to work for the Holyhead Harpies, doing whatever tasks the players asked of them. The girls had always loved quidditch and wanted to be as close to it as possible, despite their mother’s pleads against it. Harley was in love with the sport, and knew that she wanted to play it professionally. Late in the summer, the girls were early for work and decided to take up a couple of brooms and take to the sky. The manager of the Harpies came out and watched them fly for twenty minutes before calling them down. He told them that he saw potential in them, and that he wanted them to come back and work for them every summer until they graduated. He granted them unpaid positions on the practice team, used to drill against the professional team. Harley and Haydn were paired up as beaters, and beaters they became.

Harley’s focus in school slipped, as she was fairly certain she already had a job set up for her future. As that was, her parents were disappointed when her OWL grades came back the next July. She received her only outstanding in Arithmancy. She received three exceeds expectations in Defense Against the Dark Arts, Charms and Transfigurations, an Acceptable in Herbology, two dreadfuls in Astronomy and Care of Magical Creatures and a troll in Divinations. For her NEWT level classes, Harley focused on the classes she passed, and continued to do relatively well in them. Now, about to start her seventh year, Harley is looking forward to graduating and obtaining a position with the Holyhead Harpies come June.
