Okay, after playing through the game a couple times now.. and playing several random levels over again in my various outfits (hee, I'm such a girl sometimes).. here's my review. (ie: likes and dislikes) Note: I'm intentionally NOT going to give away the storyline in case someone hasn't played it yet.
Let's start with the negative.. of which I only have a few.
1) Tooooo many mercs/bad guys. Okay, I'll be honest, I never really liked all the random animals in the old Raider games.. and always wished we would go more on the human side.. but they were like cockroaches in this game. I'm okay with a few.. but not so many. I like Tomb Raider to be more about discovery and puzzle solving that all out firearm sprees. If anything, I'd like it more if they gave Lara more martial arts moves to use. Don't get me wrong. The dual pistols are a mainstay and necessity for Lara.. and I love jumping out of my seat when a random tiger, shark, or yeti pops out; but it makes it scarier when you're not
expecting something around every corner
2) I would have liked more levels, but let me say.. I'd take a short, great game over a long, buggy game any day of the week.
3) The camera issues popped up now and again.. when the perspective would change, so she'd turn around instead of keeping her direction where I needed it (a la, when she has to jump off one cliff edge to another before the original collapses).
4) Not a huge fan of the motorcycle levels. Though the idea was good, the controls just felt off to me. I never felt like it was steering correctly. I don't know. With some work, I think it could fit nicely in the game though.
Now, for the good...
1) Looooved the graphics in general. My only gripe was that a lot of times, it looked like her feet would just sink into the ground a bit. Like you couldn't see the soles of her boots.. and it would happen the same on dirt or concrete flooring... and of course, you had some issues with body parts going into walls or objects. All in all though, nobody can deny it's a vast improvement.. which is bound to get better as the use of newer systems becomes commonplace.
2) I generally liked the new moves she got.. and I liked that they kept the classics. Oh how I love the swan dive

Also in terms of control, I liked the auto-grab. It took a lot of frustration away. I know some people think it made the game too easy, but to me.. Tomb Raider shouldn't be about pressing a 'grab' button at the right time. It should be about timing your jumps, solving puzzles, etc.
3) I like the addition of her sidekicks. The comic relief was well-placed.. and they often had their helpful hints. I know some people were annoyed by them, but I found some of the one-liners hilarious, and I hope they're back in the next installment.
4) The storyline was great. It wasn't overly complex, but well played-out. Not to mention, leaving an opening for the next game always makes me hopeful.
5) The Manor.. Oh how I missed it! The downsides were apparent... Can't go outside. (Dude, where's my obstacle course?) And Winston doesn't do anything? No. He needs to follow me around with his trusty bulletproof serving tray! Still, I liked being in the mansion again.. exploring every nook.. and solving puzzles along the way.
Hmm.. that's it for now. I may add some later
