He was born December 25, 1510 in Glastonbury, Somerset, England. Benedict is from a humble background. His mother was the child of a well-to-do merchant family, and his father was a knight. As, a child Benedict wanted to clean, and learn how to dew. He very much prefered spending time with women then he did with men. His mother was not to worried with him always spending eveyday with women. However, Benedict's father did not like it. He would steal his son away from his wife, and force the boy to hunt, and make him lear how to fight with weapons. Benedict did not like this at all. He knew from the vey beginning he was different. He could never relate to any other boys his age, and he noticed another thing. It was 'unnatural' what he was feeling.
Benedict had developed sexual feelings for men. He had his first encounter with a male prostitute when he turned sixteen. After, Benedict's first ecounter with a man he had a feeling of happiness. He knew what he had done was sinful, and he knew he was going to burn in the pits of hell, but he felt truly happy.
Evetually, Benedict continued with his habits. However, his mother had caught him in the act with their sevant. In a fit of rage she beat her son, and called him vile names. She said she would have no sinner living in her house, and she told Benedict's father. Benedict's father said he no longer had a son, and sent him away. At the age of twenty-three Benedict's parents forced him to become a monk. Benedict became a monk for Glastonbury Abbey. He prayed each night for God to forgive him for his sins. Benedict even went as far to take on two mistresses who both gave birth to daughters. However, Benedict fell back into his old ways....he took a one of the monks as his lover. Benedict has no idea what to do. Is he a sinner or is he being true to himself?
