The Francis Family is back and (hopefully) here to stay! For those of you who are not familiar with the Francis Family, here are the important things that you need to know about the family history.
Here is everything I remember...
Cordelia is the oldest daughter of Henry VIII and the older sister of Mary. She is also (eventually) the older sister of Elizabeth and Edward.
While on a trip to Bavaria, Cordelia met Daniel Francis, a man from one of the Bavarian villages known as Brennidon. They fell in love and eloped soon after. Upon getting back to England - and Henry finding out about their marriage - Daniel was arrested and put in the Tower for a week while Cordelia was confined to her chambers in house arrest. Upon Daniel's release, the couple headed back to Bavaria. It was when they arrived back in Bavaria that Daniel introduced Cordelia to his son, William, whom he had with his childhood sweetheart, Alison Weston. She also met Alison's sister, Margaret, and Daniel's brother, Michael and his sister, Jaqueline AKA Jackie.
She also met her closest friends, Agnes of Northleach and Henriette de Longwy (AKA Henriette Cromwell) in Bavaria a few years before she met Daniel.
Michael and Daniel were not and still aren't really on good terms with each other. It all started when Daniel was courting Margaret. Michael had a problem of wanting eveything that Daniel had. That want included women. Michael was able to convince Margaret that Daniel didn't love her. Margaret believed him and left Daniel to marry Michael, though she loved Daniel and not Michael. Margaret and Michael aren't on great terms with each other either.
It was during this week of separation in England that Cordelia found out she was pregnant.
9 months passed. After catching Daniel cheating on her with Margaret, Cordelia went into labor.
Abigail Minerva Francis was born around Christmastime, in the midst of a huge fight between her parents.
Cordelia almost didn't survive the birth, catching Child-Bed fever and almost dying in the process. But, she survived and - after reconciling with Henry and a couple years passed - moved back to England with her husband and daughter. They now reside in Hedingham.
After spending a few lovely months in Hedingham, Cordelia and Daniel got into another fight. Daniel, afraid that Cordelia would almost die again should she ever get pregnant, voiced the fact that he didn't want to risk losing her to have anymore children. Cordelia was outraged, telling him that she would never give up her child just to save her own life. Daniel departed back to Bavaria, leaving Cordelia at Hedingham. Both of them didn't know that Cordelia was pregnant at the time of the fight.
Will had had a small crush on Cordelia ever since he first set his eyes on her. Because of this, he was very protective of her, especially when it came to Daniel. Will had always held a grudge against Daniel because - from his point of view - Daniel left Alison to fend for herself when Will was born. He soon found out that this wasn't the case. Daniel and Alison were - at one point - in love with each other. Daniel didn't want to leave Alison, he just felt that he owed it to her after getting her pregnant in the first place. After this revelation, Will and Daniel began to be on better terms with each other.
When Daniel came back to England with Alison after being in Bavaria for a few months after his fight with his wife, he and Cordelia forgave each other and both rejoiced at the thought of another child on the way. During Cordelia's pregnancy, Daniel decided that he wanted to better himself by going to college to get an education at Oxford. He wanted to become a doctor. Though they didn't want to leave each other, Cordelia and Daniel said their good-byes and Daniel went off to school. Alison then wrote to Michael to come to Hedingham because she felt that they needed a male figure at Hedingham to protect the women. She knew very well that Cordelia and herself could fend for themselves, but with Cordelia pregnant, she didn't want to take any chances. Michael came to England...and Margaret ended up following.
When Daniel came back home on a break from school, Cordelia was about 7 months into her pregnancy. One night, Daniel got a letter from his sister, Jackie, telling him that their mother had passed away. That same night, Cordelia went into premature labor.
Riley Daniel Francis, despite being two months early, was born a healthy baby. Daniel and Cordelia were overjoyed to know that their child was healthy despite the early birth. Abby took a liking to her new brother right away, even though he used to "hit" her while he was in Cordelia's stomach.
Soon after the birth of Riley and leaving Abby and Riley under the care of Alison, Cordelia and Daniel headed to Bavaria to pay their respects to Daniel's mother. Michael and Margaret went with them. Daniel blamed his sister, Jackie, for their mother's death, though Jackie had no control over their mother tripping on an overgrown root and hitting her head on a rock.
Daniel ended up graduating from Oxford and is now a doctor of medicine. He is back at Hedingham with his family.
Jackie and James, the Duke of York, also have a history. The year that Abby was born, Jackie and James were intimate with one another and she ended up becoming pregnant with his baby. She never told James, however, because he was engaged to Mary Talbot at the time. Jackie gave birth to a baby boy, whom she named Robert, but he died shortly after birth. Even after Robert's birth and death, Jackie never told James about him until they had a reunion a couple years later around the time that Riley was born.
Since then, she and James have had a slightly odd relationship. James is torn between his love for Mary and his love for Jackie. While Jackie is pushing him to be with Mary, as any good friend would, James is still torn and constantly tries to get Jackie to tell him whether or not she loves him back.
James and Cordelia have also been close friends since childhood.
Despite being back at Hedingham for a while, Cordelia has yet to actually see her family and go back to court. She longs to go back and see her family once more and wishes that she was able to visit Court whenever she wants so that she knows what is going on. She prays every night that she can see her family again.
Because of this longing, Cordelia decided to hold a Masquerade for her family and close friends at Hedingham. This is where we left off and where things are about to get very interesting
I just wanted to post a little information about Delia's mom, since she is a completely new character that was created only a little while ago, for everyone to look at. She is a completely made up character. It's not a lot of information, since she is dead and will not be portrayed here during the game, but it's enough information for people to get an idea of what she was like and maybe even ideas for storylines or whatever.
Alessandra Emiliana di Medici y di Sforza
• The first wife of Henry Tudor VIII of England
• Mother of Henry’s oldest child, Princess Cordelia Alessandra Tudor
• Grandmother of Abigail Minerva Francis and Riley Daniel Francis
• Came to England from Italy as a teenager to marry the teenage Henry Tudor in 1509
• Gave birth to Cordelia about a year into her and Henry’s marriage in 1510
• Died when Cordelia was 6 years old due to a fall from her horse
• Her father was a Medici and her mother was a Sforza; two of the most powerful families in Italy
• Her and Henry’s marriage was one of tolerance. They didn’t really love each other as husband and wife should. Henry was not very faithful nor really care what she did or did not do.
• Relatives of hers (and Cordelia's) include Catherine de Medici and Pope Clement VII on the Medici side and Giovanni Sforza (known for being Lucrezia Borgia’s first husband) and Caterina Sforza on the Sforza side among many other people.
• Very high spirited and sometimes rebellious, like Cordelia is, Alessandra as a teenager never liked rules and regulations, especially when it came to marrying Henry Tudor. Because of her personality, Alessandra was able to learn how to swordfight as a child and made arrangements before her death for her daughter to do the same, leaving Cordelia her sword in her will among other things to remember her by.
*Hedingham Castle originally belonged to Alessandra, but after she died ownership passed onto Cordelia through Alessandra's will. Alessandra wanted to make sure that her daughter had a place to go if she ever wanted to get away from life at Court.
