Hey everyone! I'm Pari. Figured that I should finally get myself an account here, because those last few weeks I spend a significant amount of time reading manga, and it felt wrong not to say 'Thanks'. (Though I'll admit that I was too shy at first. o.ô Gnn.) Anyways.. I'm 19 yrs old, from Germany, love reading Urban Fantasy and Paranormal Romance novels; usually prefer Josei and Shoujo with protagonists that do not scream 'annoying' while silently contemplating how exactly it was love when their boyfriends abused them. Oh and I found my way over here because of *checks her Calibre again to be sure* Arisa, Akatsuki no Yona and Himegimi to Sanbiki no Kemono. (I'm so horribly in love with Mizuho Kusanagi's art, it's pathetic. *grabs characters and runs away*) - THANK YOU VERY MUCH for scanlating those three series'! I'm currently unemployed due to my health so I can't really show my appreciating by donating money, and since I have no talent or knowledge as to how one cleans, typesets or generally edits manga (though I wish I knew. Arrgh! I should check out some tutorials or something >_<) I can't help there either. *feels horrible and reconsiders her decision to register here to say thanks now and again* *gnaws on fist* Damn.. Eeehm. Anyway... *silently runs away*

Lol. Welcome I think I found this group through ARISA since it was before we started Yona and Hime... >.< (I feel old now). And yeah, I know what you mean... It took me forever to go thank the scanlation groups, and even now, knowing how much work goes into it, I still don't do it often *hides*. I'm a big Urban Fantasy fan too... Did you read any Patricia Briggs or Ilona Andrews? I think they're my favorites at the moment. Hmm, if you really want a good tutorial site, I think this one was pretty thorough, though I'm not sure since it's been a while... XD http://main.storminheaven.org/guide/main.htmlEnjoy?

Waah! Thank you! I'll check it out! Tried to clean a page a few hours ago without the tutorial and almost cried because I was wayyy confused. :'D AWESOME! Yes, I read the Alpha&Omega, and Mercy series by Patricia Briggs, and almost everything except for two short stories by Ilona Andrews. Did you check out Nalini Singh's novels? Or Meljean Brook? I think there are heavy romantic elements in both of their works (though not so much in Nalini Singh's Guild Hunter series) but the worldbuilding is amazing. Also Kelley Armstrong. I just read Thirteen yesterday. So excited to read Gunmetal Magic next tuesday! *giggles happily* Phew! And here I thought I was the only one who did that. Alas.. I'll try to be better in the future! *nodds to herself*

Yeah, I'm usually more of the UF fan, too, but there *have* to be romantic elements. Well, Nalini and Meljean are both lovely people, nwho write (imo) really good novels. (I'm biased, though, because Nalini sent me an ARC of her most anticipated novel, KOS, and Meljean is just too dorky not to love her and actually reads my Facebook and Goodreads updates, it appears. o.o) So it's not like you'll get a Black Dagger Brotherhood-type of book there. Or Twilight. Or Hush Hush. (Mostly because it's not YA, but also because the villains don't smell of babypoweder.) In any case.. Any other recommendations? Oh Gunmetal Magic. I was soo sad when I saw that there were no eARCs available on NetGalley or Edelweiss. I had a good strike this year and got some awesome ARCs (like Chasing Magic by Stacia Kane) so I had hoped to see this one available, too, but no such luck. *ugly sobbing* Though I probably wouldn't have gotten approved anyways. Evil publishers! :'D Yeah, those tutorials are actually keeping me from learning for driving school. ROFL (But seriously, the theory exam here is tough.) BUT I can't help myself. With those tutorials you at least see some progress, whereas it appears as if no matter how many questions and answers for the exam I read, I'll never have read *all* of them, and I certainly will never know the correct answers to all of them, either. *frowns at herself* When did I get so stupid? Was it after High School? XD

Ack! Just realized I forgot to respond. Just got Gunmetal Magic today... It will be killed soon >:D. Btw, at the end of it, they attached Magic Gifts LOL! Ahh, permit test. I remember that... That was when I found out my driving teacher had a secret stash of test papers - as long as I was willing to donate mine after the test, I was allowed to borrow them XD. While the test wasn't too bad, I almost didn't pass since they asked me too many speed limit questions (I pretty much knew none). Good luck? (hopefully you passed since it's been a while since we've posted). I keep walking into bookstores and walking out with books. It's driving me crazy! I really should stop walking in, but it's addicting T_T I'm not sure who I'd recommend off UF; it's been a while and most of my books are back home T_T (my precious). If you haven't tried him and are bored, Jim Butcher's Dresden Files weren't bad. They were pretty entertaining, even if they weren't my favoritest series ever ;D Other genres though... hmm... some of these are from my younger years of YA hunting so if the font's big on them/they're a bit childish, forgive me? >.< (I get nostalgic whenI reread them...) Autobiographical Humor: Let's Pretend That Never Happened by Jenny Lawson (aka the Bloggess.. <3 her.. ) SciFi: Orson Card Scott's Ender's Game world... There's a whole bunch of them now. Fantasy: Brandon Sanderson (I think that's his name) Mistborn series + Elantris; Anne McCaffrey has her dragon series but I've only read one party of that world - the Harper Hall of Pern trilogy that starts with Dragonsong There are probably more I could recommend, but I can't remember off the top of my head at the moment.. I guess it *is* after high school that your (or well, my) brain starts turning into mush T_T Have fun with the tutorials; I try not to look at them because I realize how terrible my typesetting is sometimes OTL (Probably why Harumi seems to only give me cleaning now... jkjk, it's because we have no cleaners atm XD <- though if we did have lots more, it'd be veeeery suspicious ;P *is very amused for some odd reason*)

Haha, I'm worse. Though, in my defense, so much has happened, for the longest time I didn't even have proper internet. Got a new PC a few weeks back, so I'm finally ready to practice my cleaning-skills. (Or do something against the lack thereof.) Nope, had to stop driving school for a few months and am finishing the theory part in April, then start with the rest. There's still snow so I didn't want to start my actual driving practice on those streets LOL Definitely need to read the Dresden Files. I got the tv show, though I haven't watched it yet. (For obvious reasons: Read first, watch second and all that.) Someone else actually recommended several of the titles you mentioned. Gaaah, I need to read faster! :'D Oh, and I finally figured out how to use the pen-tool. Been practicing on a Yona raw for half an hour just now and another half hour yesterday (the results of which I mostly deleted because fu) and I can see progress, but.. D: Still not done with the background and whatnot. It's driving me bonkers. >_< Though, seriously, newfound respect for those of you who had to work on Arisa. Wasn't that manga 30% normal speechbubbles and 70% full of stuff that needed redrawing? D: HOW DO YOU DO ALL OF THAT? (Though, seriously, how much "active" time does it take you to clean one chapter of Yona or Arisa or a manga like that?) /cries (Edit: Completely forgot to ask: What did you think about Gunmetal Magic? I was a little disappointed, though I'll admit that the final Edge novel made up for that entirely. ) This post has been edited by Pari on Mar 19 2013, 07:13 AM
