General and In Character Rules For X-Men : Failure Isn’t Fatal Okay; these are basically the in character rules for The X-Men Academy. So here’s the breakdown for you to put it simply.
Just for general information purposes if you must report anything to an admin; here is who you can message and be taken care of quickly.
Cam - [Callum Lovelace, Megan Gwynn, and Mystique] Lex - [Harlan Park] Megan - [Hannah Patterson]
1. Actions that will be taken - I’m going to go on a three strikes you’re out basis for these. Basically; the first time we catch you at it or get a report you’ll get a warning. The second time you will be suspended for a minimum of five days. Yes five days. We’re not playing games. The third time you’re characters will be deleted without warning. We know what characters are yours.
2. Posts must be at least one paragraph. - I’ve noticed far too many one liners from people and frankly it makes people look badly upon the board. And I won’t put up with one or two people ruining it for our more literate posters. This place is a literate board as it is. If you don’t know what that means; it’s basically this. A literate board is where experienced threaders come to post upwards of one paragraph. Yes UPWARDS of one paragraph. I understand that we all have bad moments but when one is constantly posting at a two sentence level it tends to wear on everyone’s nerves.
3. Check your spelling - Okay; this is one thing we should all know but people tend to skimp on. I know we all aren’t the best spellers on Earth here; but there are word programs [like Microsoft Word] that have spell checker. For god sakes; use it. People aren’t likely to reply to your threads if they can’t understand what you are saying. That is usually the root of most people’s problems when it comes to no one replying to their threads.
-Spellchecker is your friend, so use it.
4. Use proper grammar! - I know I’m starting to sound like a language teacher but if there’s one thing that I know a lot of you can’t stand its improper grammar. This basically goes along with spelling. Use a program [like Microsoft Word] with spell checker and it will check grammar too. Basically word programs check everything to make sure you sound intelligent instead of like some bumbling idiot with little knowledge of the English language.
5. Use the thesaurus - It gets boring to post with someone who is constantly using the same words and adjectives [if you even know what those are] all the time. If you want to spice up your writing style learn new words and use a thesaurus.
6. Application posting and things that apply with it - Before roleplaying you must submit a character application in the Registration section. Once your application is approved, you may then post in the forums. Until then, please limit yourself to any of the OOC forums. If this is violated, the topic will be deleted no questions asked.
7. When in OOC [Out Of Character] - . When talking out of character in a roleplay, use some form of OOC (ie: (), [], OOC, etc.....)
8. About cursing and other 'mature' topics. - Swearing is allowed, in character. However, OOC, we ask that you keep swearing to a minimum. Unless your character has a very foul month, they probably won't be rattling off 'fucks' every ten seconds. Also, sex, drugs, alcohol, death, whatever you consider mature is free game - just post a warning in the topic's title. We don't want junkie mutants, but some mutants do drugs. Try to keep all of this mature stuff to a minimum.
10. DO NOT clutter the thread wanted board - Yes; it does happen. I only ask you to not do this because if people wanted a thread they’d post. And if they’re too chicken to; well, too bad for the both of you. If you want to draw attention to it give it a bump by posting in it. I don’t care if you spam up your own thread; but don’t spam up our boards.
11. DO NOT use net speak - That is pretty much self explainitory. I dont' want to see anyone using severe netspeak where we t4lk l1k3 th15. Please. We're all old enough to know how to talk like adults and not children who have just discovered AIM. I don't mind lol or anything; but I don't wanna see any; hays, wifs, or anything else like that. Period.
12. No god-modding - If you don't know what that is, we'll tell you. Don't try and play out other peoples' characters without permission from them. - The same goes for OOC; if you disagree with what's going on, don't try and 'solve' the issue. You just might make it worse. Let one of us know and we'll do our best to resolve it as soon as possible.
13. Remember your character - Keep your IC [In Character] posts with the profile you applied with. ex.;; Your character is very shy. Don't go putting around and having them talk to everyone they meet. Stick with the program.
14. Registration. - This is simple. Register with your full name . A full name being first and last name, or, if you want to take it further, and first, middle and last name. While Wolviebabii0689xx may seem more appealing, it makes us administrator’s stomachs turn. Also, if somebody asks you for a toll, it's a penny for your thoughts, but a dollar for your insides.
- Put this in the headline of your application or else we’ll know for sure you didn’t read our rules. - Last Name, First Name (Code Name)
Also, you are allowed four characters - at least one male and one canon. Please try to use more canons than originals as well.
If you would like me to add anything or think I’ve missed something or if there is something you want one of us to elaborate on, do send us a PM. We’d love to hear from you all if you’d like something else covered.
Also; do not be afraid to message us if you have a seen a violation of any of these. These are to make the board and your time here better. We'd love to hear from you so we can get this taken care of. Thank you; Your admin team
