-------------------------
It had been several days since Shaye and Ainsley had gotten married. It seemed like a blur at the least. Things were finally getting unpacked and there were only a few boxes left to go. Their home looked more like a home, and each day brought them closer and closer together. Both of them had decided to go to the gala, and here Ainsley was now, getting ready to go.
The clock pointers kept getting closer and closer together. Only fifteen minutes until the gala started. Ainsley knew they wouldn't get there right on time. They would be fashionably late, so to speak. On top of that, she heard that Spencer was supposed to be coming with them since supposedly he and Brielle were having some issues of some kind. Ainsley wasn't filled in on all of this. She was sitting in their bedroom, door closed, pondering what she had left to do. She had already done her hair. It was simple, pulling her hair back into a very nice bun, and putting the peacock feather accessory into her hair. To be honest though, it took longer for her to do that than it actually looked. She usually wore her hair down, and wasn't used to doing a lot with her hair like this. It looked clean and beautiful though regardless. She stared at the floor, her black dress heels sitting there, looking at her virtually saying 'you know you're feet are going to hurt after wearing these'. Ainsley shook her head at the thought. She wasn't totally used to all these getting ready. She was more of the t-shirt and shorts type of person. Besides her wedding day, she was ready to stop 'fancying' herself up for a night.
Shaye was waiting outside for her. She didn't know exactly where he was in the house, and she had pushed Roxy out of the room earlier too. She needed concentration. This fancying needed some good 'old focus and concentration. She didn't want to look ridiculous when she was out with her husband, especially at something like the gala. She sighed softly, trying to muster a smile as she looked at the dress laying across the bed, as well as her small purse and other accessories. She knew it was time to get ready though. She picked up the dress, putting it on, getting herself situated. After putting the dress on, she went over to the dresser, where her jewelry laid, putting it on. Since she had taken a shower earlier, she had taken off her wedding ring. She cherished that like it was a BMW or a million dollars.
After getting everything else on, she slipped those black heels on. She put on her make-up, and she was ready to go. She was anxious about the whole thing. What would Shaye think of her? She could hear Roxy moving around outside the door, pawing and clawing the door, trying to get it open. Ainsley shook her hair, smiling and let out a little laugh. She soon heard the pawing stop, and footsteps going away from the door. She got up, fixing herself before going to the door of the room, turning the doorknob.
Ainsley stepped outside the door, walking down the hallway to the main room, or family room of the house. She looked to Shaye, trying her best to muster a smile. Roxy got up from her place in the family room, coming over to Ainsley, doing her best not to jump, but did anyhow. Ainsley pushed her away gently. "No Roxy!" she said sternly. Roxy yawned, growing bored, and walked away back to her spot, curling up on her doggy bed in the room. Her gaze went back to Shaye, mustering a small smile, her hands at her side, her small purse in one hand. "What do you think?" she asked.

It felt like going to prom and Shaye stifled a laugh from the absurd thought. Now that had been a hoot. Getting ready for it not so much but the actual event had been fun. At least he hadn't someone to fuss at him about having his tie done wrong or something along those lines. The thing Shaye liked about this shirt had been that the bow tie had been already sewn on. Just button it up and presto! At least he hadn't bought that t-shirt with a fake suit destined on it, Ainsley may have not approved of it or most of the adults at the gala. Slipping on his vest he took one last look at himself in the tiny mirror he had. He rather liked what he was wearing, even as minimal as it looked. Bending down he tightened his converse shoes and wondered if they'd pass the formal dress code. Shaye was rather fond of his blue shoes, he found them comfortable, laid back and more his style. Well if Shaye really had style. Some people used to tell him other wise. Ainsley hopefully hadn't expected him to be some suave prince in a fancy tuxedo or something, no Shaye may aim for her frog prince more like it. Taking a few seconds to run his hand through his hair, Shaye tried his best to control his unruly blond strands. He became a bit frustrated when what he had attempted to do failed. Shaye just wanted to look good for Ainsley and this mop of hair seemed like it was going to be in the way of achieving it. He rummaged through one of the boxes he left in the closet for a certain hat he had stored away. Shaye had been rather fond of the fedora hat he had bought the other year. He actually wore it all the time, it helped him stand out or at least he thought so. Making sure it wasn't ratty looking, he placed it on his head and heard Ainsley walk into the room. Smiling, he got up and closed the closet door. When he turned around Shaye smiled brightly. Shaye never thought he'd get over how beautiful she always looked. "Hey." He said as he walked towards her and took her all in. The dress was pretty, all bird like, it was her theme? We're they supposed to be in theme? If he had known, then he would have stuck a feather in his cap and called it macaroni. Shaye inwardly grimaced at the thought and thanked God that he hadn't said it out loud. Taking her hand he gave it a small squeeze before he kissed her gently. "You'll be the belle of the ball." He couldn't help but say that one.

Maybe she was too dressed up for this event? She pondered this. Perhaps the dress was too simple, or maybe too dressy for the even. Ainsley wasn't sure of this. She was unsure of everything. However, she let it all roll off her shoulders now. Why should anyone else cared how she looked? It was expressing her personality, that vivacious side of her, but subtle. The embroidered peacock feathers added a nice flow to the dress. They wrapped around her curves and brought the whole ensemble together. The colors were similar to those of the actual bird's plumage, and she always adored the beautiful birds. Peacocks used them to attract a mate of sorts. Maybe this would attract Shaye even more. If nothing else, it would make her stand out compared to everyone else.
On the contrary, maybe there should have been a theme so they matched a little more. Really though, they did go quite well together, despite the differences in what each was wearing. She listened as Shaye greeted her with a simple 'Hey', a smiling curling up as she watched him walk toward her. His outfit was much simpler, but to her that was alright. It always seemed to her that the women who were at events like this were always the flasher of every couple. To her, though, it didn't matter. Simple is often better anyway. She personally wished herself she would have gone much simpler, but looking through so many dresses at several dress shops only proved one thing: glitter, glitter, jewels, more jewels, and lots of poofyness. Okay, that was more than one thing, but it was all true. She wasn't shopping for high school prom, but this dress was one of the only ones that seemed simpler. Ainsley was beginning to think she should sew herself for the sake of the fake that all girls want these days is more sparkle, so much that it could blind you and make you smack yourself right into a wall as you walk by.
Her dazzling blue eyes gazed upon his whole ensemble, taking everything in, computing it in her mind. The fedora, the shirt, pants, bow tie, and Converse shoes. He looked....charming to her. Sure, he was simpler, but he still looked like his charming and handsome self as always. She watched as he took her hand, squeezing it gently, then leaned in to kiss her, receiving the kiss and she responding to it. She instantly felt her cheeks turn a little ref at the moment, but that faded away. The whole thing was cute and lovely. "You'll be the belle of the ball." she heard him say next. Ainsley couldn't help but feel special and smile at such a comment. He made her feel like a princess, and to her, he hoped she made him feel like a prince. "Why thank you" she said in reply, before saying more. "And you look very handsome, my froggy prince." she said with a wink. He really did look quite handsome.
"That bow tie is quite nice as well," she continued. She squeezed his hand that was intertwined with hers gently, smiling. It really was a nice touch. She looked to him for a minute, before looking at the digital clock in the room, seeing how close it is to that 6:00pm start time before looking back to Shaye. "We probably should get going, huh?" she asked, awaiting his answer. She hoped tonight would be a lot of fun, and not be a bummer of any sort. She hoped for the best, and something told her that tonight would be a night to remember.

"Well your welcome, I really mean it." Oh he really had. Ainsley could do no wrong in his eyes. She was beautiful and she had been kind and loving, what else could he have asked for in a wife. "I'll try not to ribbit too much tonight but no guaranties!" He joked. Shaye's cheeks were slightly pink when she said he looked handsome. All he wanted was to look good for her and he guessed he achieved it, even with the fedora.
"Well bow ties are cool." He said in a teasing manner. He needed to stop watching a certain show with a blue box and time traveler. At least he hadn't chosen a fez to wear. Ainsley might have disapproved of it, most women would have disapproved of it. Not letting it faze him, Shaye felt happier once she squeezed his hand back. He had been getting used to living with someone and the familiarities that she shared. Shaye definitely liked sharing affection, even small ones like holding her hand.
When she said they should hit the road, Shaye had been momentarily saddened. In a way he would have been fine just staying home and having a night of their own. He had felt selfish about wanting to keep her away from leering men or something of the sort. Shaye wouldn't have admitted that but he couldn't help but think it. With a dramatic sigh he agreed. "If we have too. Onwards my lady." Shaye led the way to the car and escorted Ainsley to the car. He opened the door for her before he got in. It was what husbands or boyfriends do right, be chivalrous?
The car trip had been rather quiet but Shaye figured they were both a bit nervous about what to expect from the Gala. He hadn't attended anything fancy like this other then prom or a wedding he went to once. Shaye wondered if Ainsley ever went to something as fancy as this? She had came down from New York, he just never asked. Walking in, hand in hand with his wife he had a wide range of emotions rolling around his head. Sure he was nervous, he also believed he had been out of place while he looked around to the other couples he saw. They had just gotten married a few days prior but there must have been quite a few couples that lasted for a few years and Shaye hoped that he and Ainsley would last just as long.
Finding their table Shaye helped her sit and took his place beside her. Having Ainsley by his side, he relaxed and hoped the rest of the evening panned out good as well. lancing towards his wife Shaye smiled. It had been a good thing that they decided to go he concluded. It gave them good opportunity to be together more and the fact they could mingle with others helped. A small part of Shaye wondered if Spencer would show up. Things had still seemed rough for his friend and he just wished it all away. Spencer deserved to be happy and he hoped things tide over with Brielle. "I hope it's delicious." He said towards Ainsley as they got ready to eat the meal that was being served.

She was glad that he liked her comment. It was truthful, everything she said. He was very dashing and handsome. She laughed along with him as he responded to her froggy prince reference. Ribbit, ribbit she thought in her mind, shaking her head at the thought afterwards. As for the bowtie comment, they are cool. No doubt about that. In a way, she wished she was a guy so she could wear one of those classy pieces of fabric bound together in the middle.
In a way, she did feel like tonight was going to be a waste of night. Why not just stay home, plug in a movie, and snuggle in to the man she has fallen in love with and matched to. Then again, maybe this gala would prove to be more than what she was beginning to think it would be. She guessed, worst case, if it wasn't going well, they could always leave early and come home, and perhaps make a night out of it themselves spending time together instead.
Unfortunately, it was time to go. She could hear the oh so overwhelming enthusiasm coming from the sigh that she heard. "It's only one night." she said, squeezing his hand gently to reassure him. "If we have too. Onwards my lady." she heard him say. She nodded in agreement, following him out to the car, his hand still intertwined with his as she went along. After getting in the car, they were on their way. It was true, the car ride there was pretty much quiet as all get out. It was so quiet, you could probably hear a pin drop. To Ainsley, it was the anticipation of this event. Ainsley came from a background where she didn't do very many things like this. Even though she was from New York, things like this weren't very common. Of course, she did come from a weird background in the first place since her parents were actually her aunt and uncle, but no one else knows about it. Her aunt and uncle did a few galas when she was younger, but most of them she was left at home.
When they finally got there, Ainsley got out of the car, walking in with Shaye, hand connected to her. She definitely didn't want to let go. There were people of all kinds there, rich and average. Unique and different. Some people dressed in the most regal of fashions, while few dressed in plain and ordinary dresses. She did her best to just shrug it all off. She was in a way, used to it because her aunt and uncle would spend money like it was nothing, buying elegant dresses and these beautiful outfits Ainsley could never figure out how they afforded. Yet, Ainsley would be the only with stuff to the bare minimum.
She kept up to speed with Shaye as they were walking through the gala to find their table. It was like the party the prince had in Cinderella. So many people, so many elegant things, just no glass slipper missing. She felt comforted in Shaye's smile as they finally got to their table. As he helped her when she went to sit down, she said, "Thank you." like any polite person would, and then watched with gentle eyes as he sat down next. Hopefully this night would not just be a twosome kind of night, just the two of them together. Hopefully they would meet others, perhaps just like them, or different. It didn't really matter. Ainsley had few friends in Evergreen and could always use more. She watched as the first course of the meal was beginning to be passed out, then looked to Shaye as he started to speak. "I hope it's delicious. she heard him say. "Me too." she said in reply, anxious to see what they were getting. Soon enough, one plate of the meal was set in front of each of them. It was like a fancy form of spaghetti. "This actually doesn't look too bad. I think it looks good actually." she said to him, looking to him as she said it to him. Before they could start digging in though, attention was called to the front of the room. Someone, she wasn't sure who, was making a toast.
"I'll make this short and sweet." the man began, happy and confident in his words.
"We've all come from different paths, and The Vow has made us all found that special something we've all been missing. Some happy, some sad, but all in all, it's all about where we are now, and who we are matched with. The lifelong commitments we've made. All I can say is this though: Congratulations to every couple in this room. We've found our saving grace...our happiness, and we can thank The Vow for that." he continued.
"A toast to all the happy couples there are today, courtesy of The Vow. Cheers." the man concluded, clinking his champagne glass with others around him. Ainsley picked up hers, hopefully Shaye would clink to hers. Afterwards, everyone went digging into their meal of this spaghetti. "Congratulations to us," she said. Ainsley smiled, leaning over and giving Shaye a peck on the cheek. She hoped he was happy being with her. He didn't have a choice as she did when they were matched. She was definitely happy though if nothing else., before curling some spaghetti up on her fork, and taking a bite of it. It actually tasted quite good. It had a good taste to it. Maybe this would magically be like Lady and the Tramp. A piece of spaghetti that both of them would get that would lead into a kiss. Likely it wouldn't though since they each had their own plate.

Shaye took the seat next to her's and smiled when she said thank you. "Your welcome your highness." Ainsley was his princess and he her frog prince. Plus thinking of of her being a queen was hard, because generally Queens were old bats and Ainsley was young and pretty.Bringing the chair closer to the table he had been about to hold her hand when they were served their meals. Nodding his head to the waiter, Shaye looked over to Ainsley and attempted to hold her hand but alas fate was cruel as a voice was heard over head.
Pursing his lips slightly in a unattractive manner Shaye listened to speech. Everyone raised the glasses set in front of them and he followed them. He hadn't really paid attention to the speech but caught a few words. Shaye hoped there wouldn't be any sad moments in his marriage, he wanted to only share good memories with Ainsley as they lived their lives.
He got some champagne! Well he thought so, Shaye never really tried the stuff before. Maybe his mom had let him sip it once at new years but Shaye never really liked the taste back then. Plus if he ever got to drink, rarely, he only had a beer or something like that. Still having something ritzy wasn't something he'd pass up. "To us." He agreed and clanked glasses with his beautiful wife. Shaye had a goofy grin on his face when she kissed his cheek. He settled the glass back on the table without spilling it because his attention had been else where and not where the table started or ended.
When Ainsley started to eat Shaye just poked his. The fancy looking spaghetti looked foreign to him. He guessed since it was a swanky party that they'd have food different to what he normally liked to eat. Taking a guess he'd most likely not want to end up the whiny kid who didn't want to eat his food and pout about it. Ainsely wouldn't want to put up with a kid like that and he wouldn't either. His fork twirled lightly as some of the spaghetti spun around his fork. Instead of inspecting it and perhaps looking rude while doing so he just plopped it into his mouth and chewed. And chewed, and chewed and chewed. As he swallowed it, he felt slightly surprised. It was actually good, a little bit different but good.
"It's pretty good." He said as she took another bite. Maybe things were going to be alright that night, the food had been a good start. Hopefully it foreshadowed a good evening as well. Carefully to not slurp his spaghetti, Shaye wanted to show he could go somewhere and have manners. Well maybe if they were home, he could give her spaghetti kisses; either she'd find it funny or he'd be sent to the dog house. Ainsley seemed like the laid back type of girl that'd get a joke but then again she was girl.
Once finished, he dabbed a napkin to his mouth; at least like how he saw others do it. The polite thing to do right? He felt a bit nervous about, about how to act some fancy party like this. If he had a tie he may loosened it like those guys in shows who got nervous or flustered. The parties he was used to were house parties where you hadn't had to worry about how you acted, well unless you made an ass out of yourself but most people just blamed it on the alcohol. Leaning over he kissed Ainsley on cheek and reciprocated the kiss she gave him earlier.

So far it had been a pretty pleasant and delightful night. The food was good, people seemed friendly, though no one had really talked to them at this time. Ainsley was a little puzzled since those other couples talked to other people, but seemed like she and Shaye were singled out, but then again, perhaps it was just her. Overall though, the food tasted great and she was enjoying herself with Shaye. Really, though. Should it matter whether other people were even at this gala. She was there to have a good time with her husband, make an awesome night out of it. Who cares if no one was real sociable towards them.
She looked to Shaye as he answered about the food. Sure, it was almost like spaghetti opposite of spaghetti, as confusing as it sounds, but it did have a decent taste. Though, some actual spaghetti sauce could taste pretty good now in Ainsley's mind. Traditional spaghetti was really more her thing, a favorite dish of hers at that.
Once the meal was over, she dabbed the napkin to her mouth, wiping it off politely before resting the napkin folded on her plate. She was trying her best to be as polite as possible. Other people began to move around, some switching tables to talk, other taking the dance floor for some dancing. Out of the corner of her eye, she could see Shaye starting to lean in, kissing her gently on the cheek. She blushed a little as she seemed to always do. He always made her feel good. So much different than how she was around her family. She was very timid and shy, but he made her feel like anything is possible. "Shaye..." she said with a smile, in a soft and quiet tone.
Now, when it comes to the dancing, unfortunately for her, she was the girl with two left feet. Not literal two left feet, but in a metaphorical type of way. She's never been able to dance. She never really learned how to properly dance. Was never a clubber either to top that off, so she was never a wild child of sorts when it comes down to that and the crazy dancing people do these days. She marveled at people as they danced to the music. Curious it was, people dancing. She scooted a little closer to Shaye, resting her head gently against his closest shoulder, watching people as they went.
In a way, this gala was almost a little too fancy for her, and to top it off, they hadn't seen any of their friends, if they were there or not. She sighed a gentle sigh sitting there, watching people go by. They had been there for a decent amount of time. She grew a little nervous with all the people. She could use a drink of some sort to calm those nerves of hers, but then again, Shaye was underage, and she really couldn't do it. She didn't want to get one, and make him jealous if he would be. She held the temptation back. She looked up to Shaye, blue eyes glittering. "What do you want to do? Just sit here some more? Or attempt dancing? Or are you kind of over this and want to go home? It doesn't matter to me." she asked. She didn't want to make him suffer anymore if he just wanted to go home, or if he wanted to stay longer, that was fine. Whatever he wanted to do.

"Well I thought you might have liked to stay and maybe danced? Plus it's a waste to hide that dress away." He said gently to Ainsley. Shaye had thought that she had been looking forward to the gala. Most of the women seemed to be the last few days that he noticed we he had been out and about. Them buzzing around talking about what they were going to wear or some other gossip about so and so, he got tired of hearing the same things over and over again.
A lot of the other couples seemed to stick with one another as the night wore on. He and Ainsley were a good couple, newly weds yes, but he thought that someone would have came over and talked to them. Maybe they might be more wrapped into themselves to give a chance and meet the Walkers, who knows. People could be real snots but Shaye hadn't really cared now as he felt Ainsley's head resting on his shoulder. Maybe they might even get wrapped up in their own little universe tonight.
The music slowed down and more and more couples moved towards the dance floor and Shaye took it as his que. Nudging her softly, he got up from his seat and took her hand. "How about a dance?" Shaye asked with a soft smile. Sure he wasn't the most swift of people to dance but swaying to the left and right had not seemed like it'd be terribly hard. Ainsley was probably a better dancer then he was. Shaye always figured that girl was naturally a better dancer then a boy, it seemed like a thing girls liked to do. He was just bound and determined to not trip over his own feet or worst step on hers.
Shaye kept hold of her hand as they walked towards the dance floor. His thumb stroked the top of her hand. He wanted her to feel comfortable, she kind of gave off this aura that she wanted to eave but the gala barely started and he wanted her to have a good time. Well he hoped she would have a fun night, he'd make sure of it. Once on the dance floor where there was some space, Shaye stopped and turned back towards Ainsley. "Ready to get your groove on?" He silently joked as he brought her closer to him. His hand still connected to her's while the other rested on her waist. As the music dulled in the background he moved along with the rhythm. Left, right, left, right they went as Shaye hoped he was doing had been alright.

Things that she thought were going to be great about tonight did not appear to be so great. She hoped for better in a way, but who knows, the night is still young. In a way, there was disappointment, but in another, there was still opportunity to steal the night and have a good time. In all the years she went to high school, middle school, and even elementary school, no boy had ever asked her to dance. It has still be that way, even to this point and time. Ainsley had always been the girl who slunk back into the background when there was no real interaction. That's what made her so shy and timid at first until she got to know the person or people she would talk to.
She listened carefully as Shaye spoke. "Well I thought you might have liked to stay and maybe danced? Plus it's a waste to hide that dress away." she listened to him say. It made her smile a bit. She felt a kind of happiness inside with what he said. Any other guy probably would have said something like, "Let's get out of here. It's so lame." or something like that. He appeared to really want to make this night better and she liked that. It brightened her spirits in a way.
The sound of music filled her ears as the night went onward. As time went on, the music slowed down a bit. Ainsley felt some nudging and Shaye taking her hand as she watched him get up. She soon heard Shaye as he began to speak. "How about a dance?" she heard him ask her. She didn't have anything to lose by saying yes, other than she was not good at dancing. She has never been all that great at all. She was beginning to think adding dance lessons to her list of things to do in the next ten years would be a good idea. "You know what, I'd love to." she answered, a smile on her face now. She got up, hand still interlocked with his as went out to the dance floor with him.
She felt his thumb stroking the top of her hand. It did oddly help de-stress a little bit, though the couples out on the floor were enough to stress anybody out, especially if claustrophobic. Once Shaye had found some space on the dance floor, he stopped, as did she. "Ready to get your groove on?"" she heard him say to her. She gave a small laugh. "What groove there is anyway." she said in reply, smiling soon afterwards. She moved in closer to him as he wanted her to, one hand of his resting on her waist, her one hand just below his shoulder on his arm, while their other two hands were still interlocked. Her bright blue eyes looked right into his as they started, trying to follow a rhythm.
After a short amount of time, she accidently stepped on his toes a couple of times, which caused her to lose that eye contact she had. Her eyes instantly went to her feet as she started getting back into the rhythm again. "I'm sorry!" she said. She felt bad. Ainsley bit her lip in nervousness. She wasn't that great at dancing. "Do you need a 'toe' truck for your toes?" she asked him. It was a terrible joke, but yet so relevant. After a little bit, she finally did get into a rhythm though, her eyes returning to his. They looked so blue tonight, more than normal. Maybe it was just the lights in the room or something?
Time went onward from there. Nothing else seemed to matter. The fact that many others were dancing as well creeped away from her mind. It was like they were 'Dancing in a Burning Room', meaning that there could be a fire all around them, but it wouldn't matter. It was just him and her. There was a silence, at least for a little while. Ainsley decided to break it. A smile curled up on her lips as she spoke. "Thanks," she began, words soft and quiet, "If it wouldn't have been for you, this probably would have been a bit of a miserable and boring night, but you've made it really great." she continued, squeezing his hand gently that was interlocked with hers.

Shaye felt relieved that she agreed to go dance. He hadn't wanted to be pushy or making Ainsley not participate in something she hadn't wanted to do. Tonight had meant for them to go out and have a dinner date. So what if the other couples hadn't' the courage to come and talk to them. Oh whatever, she'd get used to just having us left the pair.
He held onto hand tightly as they danced. He never wanted to let go. No, she seemed like the only one that fit for him. What would have happened if they weren't married? It'd be something totally different he guessed but he hadn't wanted to think like that. All he wanted had been to hold her closer to him. Shaye's hand on her waist moved slightly more to the small of her back as he drawn her in. He felt warmer as her body now pressed against his, he enjoyed it. Shaye just wanted to feel closer to her and this felt like her answer.
She really wasn't a good dancer but neither was he. Shaye just miraculously made sure he hadn't stepped on her feet and just took the lead for the pair, like how every pair did as they danced. His eyes found hers after the little joke she told and he kept smiling. "No I think these little pigs will be alright. I'm a man, I can take it." He rebutted jokingly. If they weren't pressed against one another he would have beaten on his chest as well to pretend to show his manly skills. Moving his head forwards it rested side by side with hers. "You don't have to apologize, just flow with music and let it take you away." Shaye whispered into her ear. She smelt good as soon as he had moved them closer.
As corny as it seemed, Shaye just wanted them to stay like that forever. Him holding onto her tightly and the music lulled in the background. It seemed not important to him so long as he had Ainsley here to dance with him. Shaye had not been the most graceful of dancers and that had been probably why he never got asked to dance when he was younger. Then again being labeled as a class clown never really helped with getting the ladies. He listened as she talked and couldn't have been happier. All that seemed right and just in the world feel into place. He gave her peck on the cheek before he pulled back enough that they were face to face but still connected together swaying to the music.
"I'm happy that your happy. I just hoped that you were having fun, it's all that matters." He said sincerely, his cheeks growing a bit redder from what he said. Shaye had liked to have the night been more interactive with other groups but if anyone took a look around they seemed lost in their own little worlds, just like them. He leaned forward and kissed Ainsley fully. Nobody was watching or cared, it had been just them the way it should be.

It's been said that dancing looks easy, or at least some are. Slow dancing is said to be the most romantic of the bunch, while tango shows the true, passionate connection between two people, but is also very energetic and saucy. This slow dance was a combination of the two, not necessarily in movement, but in the connection and romanticism that came from it. The closeness, the feel, the touch....it all made that connection.
She never wanted to let this end, the dancing, the feeling, everything. She felt the tightness of his hand around hers as they went forth dancing. Ainsley was actually enjoying herself. A lot more than she had been earlier. This night was turning into something, and it was a good thing. As she thought to herself, she told herself she needed to open up more, be more outgoing, and be more like who she knows she is. This was something that was missing in the marriage that Shaye and her were in. She lacked that need to be more outgoing, and just let loose. However, her mind lost focus and went back to Shaye now as he spoke, talking about his little 'piggies'. She laughed a little. "Oh, poor piggies though." she said with a soft tone, putting a little frown on her face in playful remorse. It soon faded away though as a smile curled up on her lips as he said "...just flow with the music and let it take you away..." and it was whispered in her ear.
Her gentle sky blue eyes closed as she fell into the rhythm of the dance, keeping in time best she could, moving in closer to him as he desired. The closeness was even more enticing, and the extra warmth comforting in its own way. She felt his hand that was around her waist wrap around her lower back as she was brought in closer. The bottom part of her dress that was a little poofy puffed out just a little bit in the back as she was brought closer into him. "I'm happy that your happy. I just hoped that you were having fun, it's all that matters." she heard him say, her eyes opened and looking to him the whole time. Not long after, she felt him leaned forward into her, his lips pressing against hers into a full blown kiss. Passionate and romantic it was. It felt like the world stopped for a moment, and she didn't care if anyone was watching. She kept with the kiss as he did, giving it the romantic touch as he was, ending the kiss whenever he did.
Whenever the kiss ended, she looked into his eyes, a sparkle in hers, a smile among her lips. "You know, you once were my froggy prince, but I think you're my prince charming or knight in shining armor now like the story goes. The frog is kissed by his true love's first kiss." she said to him a gentle, positive tone. She left a little afterthought with him with a gentle kiss on his lips. She didn't say this often, but... "I love you Shaye..."

He became a bit flustered when the kiss ended. Shaye hadn't kissed anyone like that in a long time and surprised himself when he had. All the intimacy had worn off and Shaye could feel the awkward blonde boy started to emerge. She kissed him again gentle on the lips and he just stood there stunned. It wasn't as if he hadn't done PDA before in public but he just felt a bit dumbfounded that he had gotten so close to Ainsley in such a short amount of time. He knew he had feelings for her but sometimes he was left as the same guy he had been before when he was in relationships.
Shaye couldn't help but laugh at her comment about him not being the frog prince anymore. A small part of him had still remained that role, especially by what he had been thinking. He wanted to be what Ainsley deserved, a prince to whisk her away and live a life together in lavish and riches. The girl he held on to so close is important that he was willing to do anything to have a life with. Shaye just hoped he'd be good enough for his beautiful wife.
Once she said 'I love you' everything stopped. Had she really meant it or had she been caught in the moment? Love was a very strong word, well it meant a lot. To him it was something that someone said to a person they had strong emotions for, to let them know how much they cared. It scared him slightly to be honest. The only person he had ever said it to was his mother really. None of his previous relationships were really committed enough to get to that level. Something dumb was about to happen and he regretted what he said as it came out of his mouth. "Thanks"
He thanked her. This was just as awkward as that moment from that show Big Bang theory when Penny responded when Leonard first said 'I love you'. Oh he had to think of something quick to make amends to what he said. Ainsley probably felt hurt after what he said. Girls got emotional easily and he had always avoided getting into situations like this. Nervously he looked away as his cheeks became a cherry red, thankfully it was dark enough not to be that noticeable. "I do too." So it hadn't been the best recovery ever given but he just prayed that she wouldn't be mad with him. Shaye expected her to push away from him or just start to cry. He really could used a drink.

Feelings couldn't simply describe how the moment felt, but perhaps that moment had pasted now. Sure, it felt like she violated the laws of the public, but to her, it didn't matter. She loved Shaye, and that's all that mattered to her. Sure, he had some quirks, but those quirks were what made her love him even more. The closeness brought happiness to her, but maybe that moment faded as she listened to Shaye. Was thanks all it really deserved? She poured her heart out to him, and all she got was thanks to it? In a way, she kind of felt defeated, like she had said something bad, and the response was just neutral to avoid conflict.
It was weird in a way. She expected the same back, or something close to it. Maybe it was just her though. In a way, she imagined him saying it in return, and then just dancing the night away. This whole thing had become very awkward now in a way, but she was the type of person to run with it. Though it was probably expected that she would push him away, she didn't. Even though she wanted to in a way on the inside, she just wasn't that rude or mean. She didn't want to make a scene anyway. She just kept moving along with him as they were. She just felt disappointed on the inside. She wasn't a pusher, so she wouldn't just automatically push him away. The smile that once was there faded away, not to a frown, but just a neutral kind of expression, sort of like the Mona Lisa's. Neutral, but could be a small smile if looked at a certain angle.
The I do too was a little late in the translation, but she knew he did love her, despite the only thanks she got for an answer previously. She didn't want to say anything, but she needed to. "I'm glad you do too." she mustered. She didn't know what more to say at this time. She saw that he looked away. She hoped he wasn't upset. As she thought about it, she probably would have been the same way, nervous as all get out and something like that would probably come out of her mouth too if she were a guy, which she is not. "You okay? Do you want to stop?" she asked, nudging him a little. She felt like he was really upset or something. She didn't want him to be like that. If he was upset, then Ainsley would probably join in too and be upset with him. She would cry like the next person would.

She continued to move along with the music and he took it as a sign to remain with what they were doing. He fumbled a few steps as they kept dancing in the same spot. Ainsley remained silent as the tune dulled and a new rhythm filled the room. He had been a bit frightened if she were to push him away or even if she were mad at him. Shaye just wanted to know what to do or if he could even do something to fix what he said. It must have hurt her, probably would have to any girl. But Ainsley remained quiet and Shay had become awkward.
When she finally spoke he looked towards her but Ainsley averted her gaze. that had been a sign right, avoiding looking at the person you were angered with? His eyes were down cast as he tried to think of something to say to lighten his wife's mood but nothing came to mind. The tone he got from her had been less then appealing to answer back. They were just married and he had been learning to developed these feelings for his new wife. It scared him a little bit to be honest. Shaye never got into committed relationships other then this, now in the present.
"If you want too." He simply replied. They stopped all movements and just stood there momentarily not knowing what came next. Was she going to storm off if he let her go? His hands loosened even more and he barely touched her anymore. "We can sit if you want or if you want we can go home." He wanted Ainsley to look at him, tell him what to do but Shaye wasn't sure what to do at the moment. He had almost became the deer in the head lights kind of thing. His now free hand made it's way to his head and took off his hat. The floppy blonde hair laid messily and Shaye patted it down just like when he felt nervous.
"What would you want to do Ainsley?" In a way he would have liked to have drink to get this edge off but drinking never really helped in those situations. He hopped from one foot to the other as he waited for her answer. Shaye became anxious to what they were going to do and if he could fix something he thought that he might have done wrong.

Things had grown very awkward. Nothing was really the same feeling as it was before. Ainsley could feel it all slipping away as she continued to move with Shaye before each of them let go. When they each let go, standing there in silence while others danced around them, all she felt was defeat. A sigh left her lips as Shaye had asked his question whether they should stay or do. Her left hand moved nervously at her side, and stopped eventually. "Let's go home..." she said, her voice neutral, verging on disappointment.
The whole ride home was quiet, what more could be said after this...
