THE DRY SEASON
October
The land is definitely looking parched now. Waterholes are stagnant, smelly pools. But there is occasional relief through afternoon showers: a refreshing breeze and a sudden deluge, short, but intense and invigorating. Brumbies start to worry about finding sustainable food sources.
The King
The King of the brumbies of the North is Bunderra the black stallion.
There stepped the giant stallion, Bunderra, in Windjana Gorge, moving from shadow to sun, proud head raised high and muscles rippling fluidly underneath a silky black coat. The bluntly attractive features of the australian brumby stood prominantly in the curve of his face and the line of his strong body, there could be no doubt that this beast was the king. King of the
brumbies of the North.

Warabo Flat A large, well grassed flat that many brumbies congregate at. Generally visited by herds of three or more horses, two year olds like to try their luck at gaining fillies from other young stallions here. Sometimes this angers older stallions residing on the Flat and the young stallions get a beating - but this doesnt stop them returning for more.
