Before voting, READ MY STATEMENT.

Now, I'm from America, duh, and I'm Patriotic (but not nationalistic, now). I also think 9/11 was terrible and very sad. But, I think America is treating it a bit too much like the end of the world. Yeah, I will not deny that it is terrible, we should have seen it coming, but that's just it.

WE SHOULD HAVE SEEN IT COMING.

Is it not true? 9/11 could have been TOTALLY PREVENTED if we were more alert or had better security. Truth is, yeah it sucked, but it is NOTHING, and I mean, NOTHING, compared to, say, Hurricane Katrina or the 4 hurricanes that destroyed Florida a while back, or the tsunami that hit Asia (although that wasn't us, it was still bad). They're natural disasters. They couldn't have been prevented. Yeah, in Katrina, more lives could have been saved if the mayor got off his ass for once (pardon my french), but the destruction of the levys and the whole city, for that matter, was unavoidable.

And building the new towers on Ground Zero will just invite them to attack again, no matter how many troops are sent over there. It's that simple. Maybe if we thought for a second, maybe things like 9/11 won't happen again and we can focus on making sure that hurricanes like Katrina don't kill that many people or cause that much damage ever again.

Think, America. Think.

Before I state my opinion on this issue, I just wanted to correct you when you said that the towers were being rebuilt. They aren't. Well, if they are, they're in a different location entirely. A mamorial is being built (or has already been built-I don't remember) for the vicitims of 9/11 where the towers once stood.

Okay, as for my opinion on this, I'm somewhat torn. Yes, the security could have been better, and yes, I don't think we paid enough attention to terrorist activities. But on the other side of things, who could have known that a few middle eastern guys were going to high jack a couple of planes with nothing but cardboard box openers and then send them flying into the two towers and the pentagon? There was no way that we could have known that would have happened unless we had had some previous information about the attack or some kind of warning. So for now, I'm just going to vote I'm not sure because I can't really make up my mind.

I had heard that they were building some sort of "Freedom Towers" or something where the twin towers once were.

You are right, though, that it was a shock, but didn't the airplane security that day see some suspicious people walking around? Aren't you supposed to report suspicious activity?

Oh yeah! I forgot about that... They are going to be built, but I don't think that they'll be built where the towers once stood.

I didn't hear anything about security officers seeing any suspicious people that day, but there's a lot that you can miss on the news.

Or it could be that the news decided to not cover that. The media does love to alter stories.

Unfortunately... What did the two towers do anyways? What was the purpose of the word trade centers? Was it a place for ambassadors from different countries to trade?

A ton of people worked there. It was something really important, but I don't know what.

I think that people take it way too seriously, its horrible that a lot of people died there, but people don't seem to care about people dieing in other countries nearly as much. This is actually the very first time America has been attacked, Hawaii wasn't part of America during World War 2, so the bombing of Pearl Harbor doesn't really count, when we bombed Japan, twice, many more people died there, both times, but people don't make a big deal about that, not even Japanese people, I know we were at war with them at the time, but America bombed the towns, the people that had nothing to do with the war, and we did it twice! We've attacked tons of other countries, and people don't make a big deal about those. Asians can die, Europeans can die, Africans can die, but when Americans die, OH NO!! Its horrible, this is the worst thing thats EVER happened! So as you can see, I do think its bad that people died, but if people really care this much about it, then they should've cared even more about when other places got attacked.

It's because Americans today are way too nationalistic and only care about themselves.

Undecided. I still believe it's a conspiracy from all the tapes I've watched. The U.S. is milking it to steal Middle Eastern land through a "provoked" war.

Bingo. As I said, Americans are extremely nationalistic, and are taking full credit for the Iraq/Afghanistan wars, despite the fact we're being helped by Britian and the other countries.

Yeah. . .

Btw, I'm an American who moved to Canada, and now have an odd prespective of the States. I align myself as an American, but can see it from a third person view.

What's even more freaky about that situation and this situation is that we're treating people who are of middle-eastern descent wrongly, when in WWII, we treated the Japanese wrongly. Seriously, they put some of the Japanese families into little "camps," because they think that people who want to just make a living in america are "spies." Are you guys thinking what I'm thinking about these camps? Hint- it ALSO has to do with WWII. I wish I could take someone who does these hate crimes over my knee. Break their freaking spine, that'd do them some good.

Oh my God, are you guys reading my mind? Seriously, my mom thinks it's for the oil, and I agree.

Well, George, does "staying the course" mean you switch your focus entirely from finding weapons of mass destruction to finding Hussein to Iraqi sovereignty? That's funny, because I thought that if we pulled out of Iraq after we did the first two, I think we would've had less casualties than from the 9/11 attack. Something's going on in America, which may be one of (but not limited to) the following:

-More land
-More oil

You see, America is not taking full credit of it. Watch Dutch news. Watch Canadian News. Watch UK news. Etc. You will see them talking about there county involvement with the war.

What did we do with the Japanese in WWII? Sent them to camps. We haven't done that to middle-eastern's, and we are not allowed to either.

You see, there is a group of people called the taliban. They have other leaders with unknown names to the public, so America is currently trying to stop another attack like 9/11.

America cannot take the land, because Iraq now has something called a government of democracy. They are part of the UN and will not become apart of America.

As for the more oil, yes America does want more oil, but they will still need to pay to import it from other country's, or it would damage the economy.

QUOTE (Fohn)

Actually, people in war have to support a war from home. Its where people build supplies and send things to aid the war. Therefore they had something to do with the war. You see, when a county is at war and invent a new "toy" they want to test it out on the enemy.

How so? I don't think anyone could have prevented it without the knowledge in advance and only a select few knew about these things from happening and they wouldn't let anyone know about the plans.

Well, if Bill Clinton had focused more on Bin Laden instead of... other things, there would've been a higher chance that America could've prevented such an attack.

And even when the plane was hijacked, we could've shot the plane down before it even hit the towers. The only action that saved lives were the brave actions of the civilians on United 93. Us? We did nothing amid this crisis. We contacted no officials. We didn't use the Emergency Alert System. We did NOTHING. We were oblivious, which led to people taking no action: which led to the 9/11 tragedy. We could've prevented it. But we didn't.
