Invision's Upgrades, They might be coming soon

For a while now on the Invision Support forums there has been discussion of new upgraded boards coming soon.

Well according to the recent discussions those upgrades might be coming in the first quarter of 2006. So don't be alarmed if you come here one day and things are looking different or something. The main thing is the glitches and things that are down will be fixed and back up. Things like the search function.

If I find anything else out before then I'll let you all know.

Ok I have some news about the upgrade.

I saw on the support site for InvisionFree that when the upgrade comes they will be calling it ZetaBoards instead of InvisionFree. That means our link will change. However they say that our old link http://s7.invisionfree.com/The_Hair_Care_Family will continue to work so if you don't know about the upgrade and click that link you'll still come here.

They are still saying First Quarter of 2006 for the upgrade however last time I did some math 3 went into 12, 4 times and this is now month 4 meaning Second Quarter.

The important thing is that when the changes do come they will give us an Opt Out Option meaning if we don't like the changes or are not ready for them we can choose to opt out of upgrading. They also say we can choose to Opt In at a any time after that.

If they spring the changes on us without enough warning I think we'll opt out for a few weeks or more so that we can give you all proper warning.

However, I don't know if they mean they will make the changes and then give us the option of going back or if they will just ask us if we want to change and wait for us to Opt In? So I'm warning you all again that it is possible that the site may change in appearance suddenly. I hope they send the Admins a message first but I don't know how much time they will give between sending such a message and actually doing it?

So be warned LOL. I have no control over this until they give us control. Do you have questions?

The invisionfree / zetaboard people now have a beta version of the new Zetaboards up at http://beta.zetaboards.com/test/

This is another milestone in their upgrading process. This means that potentially the upgrade could come soon. They are trying to work out all the bugs before they do the actual upgrades.

For those who don't already know this, our site is located on a free forum service. We are just one of thousands of forum owners who are using the Invisionfree forums. Invisionfree is a site I found that offered free forums with lots of features and they didn't have lots of limits on things that make you pay if you need more.

But that means that I am not the technical support person. So when something happens like a server upgrade or downtime that is them doing that and not "The_Hair_Care_Family".

So they are the ones who are upgrading us to "Zetaboards" and when they do we can either keep the board as Invision Free or change over.


Note The way the board looks if you click that link above is not necessarily how our site will look if we upgrade. We will still be able to customize it from a default look to something else which is what I did with our current site. So if you don't like the way that page looks don't worry.

So the upgrade may be coming soon. Or maybe it won't be. But I'll keep you all updated as I find out.
