Even when I had a professional cut my hair, I'd still go over it afterwards myself and trim up the uneven edges. I mentioned before that I haven't had a professional cut my hair in over 5 years. I just feel the urge to 'get rid of' the bad ends and to 'even things up' even if my hair was in good shape. Maybe this is an addiction or I have OCD, maybe this is just something to do when I'm bored. Maybe I'm just feeling artistic. Who knows. Anyone else do this to themselves?

I dust my ends constantly. Every time I sit by the computer, my scissors are right there and I make use of them. :D When I had my hair shorter and wasn't trying to grow it out, I cut it into different shapes all the time. A bit OCD, but it made me happy. I don't know if it's condusive to long hair growth, though.

I used to do it.....alot.
Since I got my big chop I'm leaving it alone. It's very addicting I know, I did it when I had to much time on my hands and to rid myself of splits. I get a trim now regularly and there is no need for it.

I haven't done it really often but since I have a hard time trimming less than 1/2" when i do my self trims I am cutting back the frequency to quarterly.

I have twice in my life taken scissors to my hair and mangled it.
Age 5 and Age 16. I didn't care either time.

What I mean is I need to cut back my frequency because it is possible for me to cut more than I intend to. I have no fear of the scissors when they are in my own hands.

I constantly search for split ends. It drives me buggy to find a split and not have any scissors handy.

I mostly do a search and destroy for split ends
myself...and I DO find that I'm addicted to doing
this..it becomes an obsession to find the splits!
I have been happy/sad though because I haven't
been finding any splits when I look! I just LOVE
to cut them off too!!
HAhaahaha, so you're not the only crazy one in the
house~

For years I have had a problem with this. I would get it to waist length and then feel anxious about it and cut it back to BS. It's almost at tailbone now and I want to cut it back so badly, but so far I have not given in. I would really like to have it at classic length, but it bothers me that the ends are thin, :(

It is comforting to see that I am not alone. I've been gradually cutting my hair in hopes to get rid of alot of damage with the last cap bleach frosting. I'm too chicken to cut too much off at once and prefer to do it in baby steps. Just last night my husband saw me with the scissors again at my hair and just shook his head and said I had a "problem".
