I need opinions. I have stopped blowdrying for well over a year now. Except for 3 times. Now last weekend I let my hair air dry most of the way. And I locked my blowdryer on COLD air only. I used my huge vented round BBB. It works. My question is 'does cold air blowdrying cause damage'?? Any ideas?

Using cool or warm air isn't bad. Just don't use the hottest or fastest settings. I don't blow-dry my length because I'm lazy but I do dry my bangs 1-2 times a day. (Sometimes more when I'm trimming them because I'm a perfectionist who will keep wetting/drying/trimming until they're perfect.) Since my bangs are "short" and they stay "short," I tend to use hot air every time and they're fine. I wouldn't recommend it for longer hair, though.

The main thing is to avoid the high heats and try not to tug the wet hair since it stretches easily.

But I agree with Kelly that cool or warm air should be fine. If you use warmer to hot then avoid keeping the dryer in one spot. That rhymes ;)

Agreed.

I don't think it is a problem as long as you watch the temperature and speed. If your hair feels hot to the touch, it is too warm. The speed, well, wind will damage.

During the winter, I like to use a dryer of some kind since it takes my hair over half the day to completely dry. Our hair dryer broke last spring when the men were using it outside with the grill, don't ask. Anyway, Something else I do is sit near a heater, we have ceramic ones with fans, I just make sure I am close enough for the benefits but not too close. I will flip over and get close for a couple minutes to work the scalp area.

Well, good then. I'll have to watch the big barrel brush use. I totally forgot about stretching wet hair. Thanks for the insights.
