Most of my problem is that the styles I liked required skillful styling. They could give me the cut from a picture, but I hadn't a clue how on to style it. :(

Yes I have glanced through magazines to look for a new style, but I have never taken it to a stylist. I have started looking for up-dos rather than hair styles lately.

2. If yes did you take it to a stylist? I did once. To prove a point to Hubbs. I let him pick the style out of the book. He picked a perfectly straight style, because for some reason, he thinks my hair is straight. When I showed it to the stylist, she looked at him and said "This won't work with her hair. She has too much wave in it." Koala- 1; Hubbs- 0 :lol:

Hehe, yes there was this incident when I was about 15. The pictures were from magazines like seventeen.

Yeah, I cut out a whole bunch and took them to her. It was a new stylist.

Well, it wasn't exactly what the picture showed but I liked what she did. She gave me layers and razored my ends (I know, I cringe to think of it now) and all of a sudden - bam! My hair was WAVY. I don't know what she did but I really liked the waves! :badger: I had thought about this cut for a very long time. I intended to cut back to chin-length so this was meant to be an 'in-between', dull-the-pain-of-the-big-chop cut. So if it turned out bad I wouldn't be losing much because it would soon all be cut off anyway. I kept that style for a few months, liked it then went for the plunge and got a bob. I liked the bob but it's not a style that complements me all the time.

4. What was your hairstyle before and what was the picture?

Before: All one length, 1b/1c hair that was almost waist. After: Layered 2a hair with longest layers still almost waist. The picture? The Rachel and variations of it, hence the layers :lol:

5. Do you know anyone else who did the same things?

Nope, not that I'd ever ask them.

I did this a few times, but the stylist never got it right, so I gave up on it. Besides I have a blunt cut now and NO one is cutting my hair into layers ever again or they will be tortured.

I always tried to get pictures of styles I wanted from magazines. :) Always longing for better hair.

NEVER! I've always had horrible experiences with incompetent stylists, though. The place that I'm from is full of terrible stylists. :(

Either blunt cut or in layers. I took in pictures of just about every style imaginable, but I always came out with a) a blunt cut, or B) all over layers. It's like they completely ignored the cool face-framing pieces or nice angled ends or whatever I was showing them in the pics. But I kept on trying - haha!

Yeah, every young teen gal where I'm from does that. :)

Sometimes yes, sometimes no.

Usually go from shoulder length, to some kind of layers or a pixie cut.

Yes, the picture I had was from a short hair magazine.

Yes, I did take it to the stylist.

Nope, not at all. Like I said in another post she looked briefly at the pic and threw it in the trash.

Before: Straight, bottom of the ear length, all one length hair.
What I wanted: Short on sides longer on top cute crop/pixie.
What I got: Very short, super razored, some pieces 1/2 inch some pieces 1 inch, some pieces 2 inches, crappy looking hair that I couldn't do anything with except spike it.

5. Do you know anyone else who did the same things?
Nope, I'm the most adventureous hairwise of anyone in my family and my friends.

Yes. I think I was 19 and I had a picture of Jennie Garth. This is when 90210 was still on the air. The picture was from Sophisticate's Hairstyle Guide and it was when her hair was just a little bit above shoulder length.

Yes.

It turned out great! But it was a simple cut to begin with. It's the only time I've ever used a picture.

4. What was your hairstyle before and what was the picture?
I think it was a shoulder length bob before and the picture was like a "growing out" style. My hair was trimmed a few inches, rounded out, and I think light layering on the bottom.

I don't think so.
