Title: Xrated Pages - Unrealted To Search

Chameleon - December 29, 2004 05:04 PM (GMT)
I was doing a search for Belgian sugar waffle recipes. I had put Sugar waffle recipe in quotes and some nice links came up. About halfway down the page, I was clicking on all of the links, a very xrated page popped up. I have no idea what this had to do with sugar waffles. The only thing that I can think of is that some porn star used this as her name.

You mean on Google or another site right?

That does suck. especially with adware and all that from clicking the wrong thing.

It was the google search engine. I feel like a dummy because I should have realized that xxxbelgian sugar waffles would be porn.

PurpleBubba - December 30, 2004 01:45 AM (GMT)
but what about XXXChinese sugar waffles or XXXBrazilian?

I know.....I really hate that. I was helping my 11 year do research one night and thats all we kept getting. I made him step away from the computer but it should not be there. And those popups are absolutely horrid!

Oh,yeah,I've had those. You could search for anything.Even school things,or news. Then there's this description of a link that seems to have EVERYTHING you want.Then..click and..total embarrassment!Especially if there's a parent behind me!I don't want my parents to think I go to such places for fun.

In google,I know you can use SafeSearch, but you might end up missing a few things.

Riiight here,in the Google preferences link. :)

Thanks for the tip Sapphire.

A lot of people might think that's common sense to switch that on but I know that things like that don't always jump out at people so it's great you mentioned that.

You're welcome PB.I know it seems obvious, but the link to it in the Google page is so small.I didn't even notice it until a while ago! :P

It's kinda like Scandisk and Defragmenting. If no one tells you you have to do it how will you ever know?

And if Google has the small link how can you find it? Except stumbling across it.

I used to be good at helping new internet people because since I had such a hard time, I knew how to say it in simpler terms when teaching others.

Google image search is really bad for XXX photos. Like while trying to get a pic of the cover of Glamour magazine, I foolishly typed in "glamour" and got nothing but x-rated photos. I learned the hard way that you should be very specific and enter "glamour magazine". Ugh.
