 Interest Check
Posted by Craig Daniels - 02-12-11 03:16 - 16 comments
As I'm sure you all know, we've hit a... little "snag" in our activity. I know that we just had an activity check, but this is different. This is an "interest check". I want to know how many people actually want to keep the site running. Not checking in will not delete your profiles. But if you aren't interested, I don't see the point in sticking around. Running the site is a team effort; we all contribute to that which is the Grey Divide. If it goes down, we failed as a team. Now prove me wrong; show me that people want the Grey Divide to last!

The following are interested:

as we reach the end of the year, past memories are remembered, never forgotten. there have been several changed to the very original TGD, and we can honestly say that it was for the better. ever since the summer of 2009, this site -this family- had it's up and downs; making it one helluva of a rollercoaster ride. the bad experiences helped us learn, to learn our mistakes. our issues. but the greatest of all: how to break down a distasteful relationship, and build a great one with a new foundation. we've also lost members, many that we surely miss, but also the ones that we can truly say, "good riddance." reuben, aaron, lawliet, brandon, ziva, and rory, only a few of the greatest members in TGD history, we live off of their goals and imagination; forming it into our own. by the end of this year, we would have survived for one and a half years. let's celebrate! keep us strong! bring passion to all! && most importantly, create one of the greatest role-play sites with a rich history and fun environment! i want to thank you all, for creating the heart of this site <3

Characters of The Grey Divide !
throughout those 18 months, not just members, but many characters have come and gone. characters are vital to creating a history for a role-play site, and we would like to thank all members for making such an impact. however, there is a particular ten set of characters that are most memorable, likable, developed and rich of the Grey Divide universe. we will always remember them and their stories to be told on as long as tGD2 lasts, which will be forever. let's take a moment and pause, to look up to these characters and their respective role-players:

Give Me FOUR !
if you haven't noticed yet, the character limit and maximum has been changed from three to four. sure, a one number difference may not seem like a lot, but it really is. try to tell me that you have never been stuck in choosing between two characters for your last spot. with this four character limit, you get the benefit. && we are also sure that many members out there like to experience and role-play with more characters, which greatly expands their horizons. we want to please our members, and this is a present from us to you. so start planning on four characters, if you want four, now. because you can register them at any time with no post counts. take the chance, you'll like what you find. having a diverse cast of characters is such a great feeling... nick would know, that equality bastard. also! since it would be pointless in making a completely separate announcement, we will state it here: You only have one week to finish a WIP (Work in Progress) character application. If not, it will be considered abandoned and moved to the Recycled Characters' board.

A HERO, You Call?
with the canon franchises of Marvel Comics, Top Cow Productions, DC Comics, Dark Horse Comics, and Image Comics, we have added -yet- another canon! maybe the big, red, bold word helps a bit, or you can just cheat and keep on reading... or just scroll down to the image you lazy butt! though, you should already know, because we all keep our eyes on the newsbar to the side, RIGHT?! NBC's HEROES and all related graphic novels and comics are accepted on The Grey Divide 2. be happy, because that gives so many character options and choices, expanding the endless universe even more that it already is.f deceit, lies, potential, truth, teamwork, loyalty, betrayal, love, and death are the many concepts that this epic series brings to the table. be prepared, because... that line just fits at the end of a paragraph likes this.

A STORY To Tell.
a new feature is going to be added to the board soon. real soon... as in tonight. you know how we simply move all finished threads to the Trashed Threads! section? we don't think it's fair for finished and great story-telling threads to belong with the dead, unfinished, and abandoned threads right? to heal that case, we are creating a Finish Threads board along with the Trashed Threads board. However, that is not the prominent part of this announcement, which is.... Trade Paperbacks! This will be a new board added to the site. it will contain sub-boards, which will act as literal Trade Paperbacks. Each sub-board will be an arc of it's own, containing all threads related to that arc. we will try to encourage more members to have these 3-threaded arcs (which relates to 3-issue arcs in comics). however, we don't want everyone to do one every single time they make a thread! we encourage you to use this feature to your advantage, but please do not abuse it (:

The Grey Divide WALK OF FAME!
it's that time of year again. even though this is only the second ending of a year we ever had for the Grey Divide: Yearly Awards!! anyroad, it's time to honor those that deserve awards in certain categories. it's such a frustrating time, because there are just so many options to choose from, especially from a particularly awesome site like this one! there will be categories such as best: member, thread, plotter, original character, rivalry, and writer. those are just the very few categories that we will have our members choose from. this is not a time to hate everyone if you don't win anything, but it is a time to give honor and appreciate the awards. winners will get special awards and prizes, but we won't reveal that until after everything is done. here's the thread for nominations! have fun!!

Not too long ago, humans began to experience extraordinary abilities; being able to fly, lifting a car, phasing through a solid object, shooting beams of energy from their hands. These humans developed their newfound powers, learning to shape and control it. Not only did their experience grow, but their hunger for the top of the chain increased as well. The powered humans with malicious intents created a world of terror and crime, they became known as the community of supervillains. On their tail, extraordinary beings with the goal to help the world, evolved as the superheroes. Now it was a race against the good and the evil, the strong and the weak, the brains and the brawn... who will come out on top?

    • A secret group of mutants call themselves the X-Men, with the desire to live in world peace alongside the humans; however, there are many others, both mutants and humans, that oppose this idea. How will the X-Men survive in this struggle of superiority? An unofficial band of young adults, teenagers, and children have gathered together to oppose the authority; giving themselves the name, Young Titans. They are willing to put themselves in danger to help their cities; when will the adults take them seriously?

    • The common known superhero group are the Justice Avengers, the greatest heroes the world has ever seen, banded together in times of desperate need to work together for a better future. Will the public start to think that these superheroes are taking advantage of the law? 'Heroes' that aren't considered members of the Justice Avengers, because they are willing to cross the lines of murder and revenge that others cannot are named the Outsiders. But... will they ever take it too far?

    • In a complete opposite creation of the Justice Avengers, the Injustice Masters gathered the most powerful and intelligent villains. Would they ever be stopped before their plans to take over the world, and even beyond, goes into play? A street-level gang, the Fraternity, had silently became global, containing the most ruthless villains that are willing to do anything for their own benefit. Will they ever be discovered, or more importantly, defeated?

    • The governmental agencies can be considered both good and evil, as they help the world, but try to benefit themselves simultaneously. S.H.I.E.L.D. is an espionage and law-enforcement agency that deals with superhuman threats worldwide. The B.R.P.D. is charged with protecting the world from the occult, paranormal, and supernatural.

Now in the year 2010, these ideas have greatly evolved into a complex system. These concepts take you to a deeper level than you would ever imagine. There is no more 'normal' life, every thing and every person is connected. Where will you stand in this universe? In this universe of the....

 The Rules
Posted by Johnny Storm - 11-15-10 04:54 - 0 comments
GENERAL

[1] Friendliness. Simple enough. We're friendly people, you should be too.

[2] Staff. It's called respect. It's also a two way deal.

[3] Decency. Be a decent person. Do you want bad karma to hit you back in the face?

[4] English. Only English please! Unless some in-character dialogue is in another language, like Nightcrawler's speech for example.

[5] Foulness. We don't mind cussing. Mild gore is completely fine, just don't cross the line. Erotic stories and sexual nudity is not allowed.

[6] Discipline. If you break any of our rules, the first thing to happen is that you will receive a warnings and punishments. You'll only find out what they are by breaking them, so don't do it.

[7] Activity. It is now mandatory to post at least once a week; please try not to keep a thread waiting on your turn for more than a week either. Don't forget about the absences board and monthly activity checks.

CHARACTER

[1] God Modding. You are not powerful. You do not control other characters. You can't dodge every time. Deal with it.

[2] Original Characters. Each OC should be distinct, meaning that you should put effort into them. Issues arrive when you make an OC with the same powers, personality, and same base history as a canon character.

[3] Threads. You can join an unlimited amount of threads. However, if you join a thread, please stick with it to the end, or have your character leave the thread with a notification.

[4] Character Limit. The character limit is four characters. Staff clearance is needed for the fifth and sixth. There is no post limit. Applications will have to be approved by two staff members through the use of stamps. If you excessively keep dropping characters, there will be penalties.

[5] Canon Franchises. Marvel Comics, DC Comics, Top Cow Comics, and Original Characters are accepted here.

[6] Face Claims. Your character must have a face claim, which means a celebrity face in which your character looks like. You may provide both an art image and a celebrity image in your graphic sets, for costume purposes. It's also called a 'PB,' meaning play-by.

[7] Account Posts. When posting something that concerns your character, please use the account of said character. This is obvious for in-character posting, but for topics such as team roster sign-ups, please use the correct account.

[8] Character Applications. You may reserve a character, but you must put up an app within a week of the reservation date. WIP (work in progress) applications are acceptable, but you only have one week to finish the application. Or else it would be ignored and moved to the recycled characters.

MISCELLANEOUS

[1] Chat Box. The C-Box is for us to talk with one another and be friends. So... Be friendly.

[2] Debates. Debating is good; arguing isn't. We know the difference. Circular logic, or not accepting other people's points, isn't debating.

[3] Avatars. In the C-Box, you are free to use an avatar; however, the avatar must represent one of your characters. It can not be animated/gif.

[4] Advertise. In the advertising section. Not anywhere you want, not in the C-Box... In the designated area. Read further rules in the advertising boards.

[5] Graphics. Maximum size for avatars is 150x300. Please, just do not stretch the page with large graphics and images.

[6] Affiliations! Please post in the designated section, and be sure to already have our mini-banner on your site. You can find your link in the scrolling marquee under the C-Box.
