Title: A Bad Hideout
Description: Duela/Closed
Enigma - December 3, 2010 08:36 PM (GMT)
What a thrill. Running top speed with the wind blowing her ponytails in her face as she looked back at the pathetic police chasing her. A smile spread across her bright red lips. It was good to get back into action. Enigma let the grin go as soon as she heard sirens quietly start in the distance. She cursed under her breath.
“Hey Coppers! Riddle me this! What number does a pig dial when it needs help?......SWINE-ONE-ONE! Hahahahahaha!!!”
Enigma made a sharp turn down an alleyway, and climbed up the closest ladder, onto a dark fire escape ledge. She peered over the railing to see where the coppers ended up. Pretty confused for now. She peeked into her bag for a look at the magnificent emerald necklace that was now unrightfully hers.
Better not wait around all day, she thought. Looking through the window of the apartment she was about to break-in to, it seemed like nobody was there. Perfect place to hide until some other meaningless crime takes their attention away from me. Prepared to break some glass, she was surprised to find that the window was open. Hm. Maybe this place is abandoned. But the open window is still weird.
Looking around, it was clear this place was openly lived in. Enigma walked into a scarcely lit living room with purple furniture and green accents. Across the room was an epic big screen TV, with pretty much anything you could ever need for it. Beside it were twin black cabinets with who knew what inside. A black coffee table sat in the middle of the room with an especially delicious looking bag of sour cream and onion chips, just begging for her to eat them. Well, this person is clearly not here, and I would hate for these chips to go to waste.
Enigma plopped down on the purple futon, and propped her muddy combat boots on the coffee table. She set her precious cargo next to her and grabbed the delicious crunchy morsels. She flipped the TV on and made herself at home. Who knows, maybe I’ll have to liberate this place from the owners…
Duela Dent - December 3, 2010 09:19 PM (GMT)
Duela was starting to feel severely depressed. After the whole voidwalker thing went down, the team all went their separate ways and she hadn't heard from anyone since. She had holed herself up in her apartment, listlessly watching her TV. It really hurt that her friends, especially Red, who was like family, had just faded out and disappeared.
She made her ramen noodles and headed into the living room...to find someone already there. Who knew about this place? She certainly didn't tell anyone but Red. And he didn't seem the type to just give out information like that to just anyone. Now that someone had found her, Duela was both nervous and angry.
"Who are you, and what are you doing in my house!" she yelled. Her food spilled all over the floor, and she saw the figure jump, then start choking on a chip. When she had stopped coughing, the figure turned and Duela gasped.
It was Enigma, and though Duela thought about it, she never thought she'd see the Riddler's Daughter ever again. All the two could do was sit there frozen in shock, staring at each other like they couldn't believe what was happening.
Enigma - December 3, 2010 11:25 PM (GMT)
While being distracted by the glorious TV, Enigma totally let her guard down. Honestly who lets a beautiful TV like this….OUCH!!! That had to hurt. Enigma was so distracted that she didn’t notice the person standing in the doorway until she heard a bowl drop and a demand of her to explain what she was doing in this now really bad hideout. All she could manage was to choke on the new chip in her mouth.
Jumping up, Enigma wondered would this person rat me out? Will I have to fight? I sure hope not. I’m exhausted. After she was finally able to swallow, she looked up at and heard the person gasp. Oooh! Maybe this person knows my reputation and I can scare them off! But, when she looked up, she gasped too.
“Duela?” Enigma waited for a response. But when her ex-best friend just stared, all she could muster up in the emotional department was rage; and not the flick-Duela-and-just-leave-her-alone-for-a-while kind of rage. The “ENIGMA SMASH!!!” kind of rage.
“TRAITOR!!!!” Enigma shouted as she lunged at Duela with her fist aimed at her face, just like the last time.
Duela Dent - December 3, 2010 11:38 PM (GMT)
WABAM! Duela was in so much shock, and still wondering if this was real or a hallucination, that when Enigma's fist collided with the side of her face she couldn't do anything about it. Not a hallucination. Déjà vu. This was just like when they went their sepearate ways, except this time the role was reversed, and she was the one collapsing to the ground. Once the initial shock had worn off, Duela was filled with a fit of rage. She jumped to her feet, and went to pluck a smoke bomb out of her belt. Except her belt wasn't on.
Duela smacked her palm to her face, then decided that wasn't a move to repeat in the future, because she had just been punched there and it hurt even more. She dodged around Enigma and launched herself at her gadget belt. She tossed a smoke bomb into the room, dropped to the ground, and searched the packs for her gadgets. Unfortunately, she had almost emptied the entire darned belt so that she could repair her toys. She scrambled around the purple hazed room, feeling for her gadgets. She reached around and found a compact with confusion and stun powder. She loaded it up and tossed it through the smoke at Enigma's shadow. Hopefully, she hit. Otherwise, that "hurt stick" was going to, well, hurt.
Enigma - December 4, 2010 09:17 PM (GMT)
Enigma glared with hatred as she raised her cane, or “hurt stick.” She was ready to lunge at Duela again when the room filled with smoke. Suddenly all she could see was purple and that was a real pain. How was she supposed to kick the snot out of Duela, if Duela kept playing hide-and-seek?
Swinging her hurt stick through the smoke in an attempt to clear it, she remembered why she hid here in the first place. What if Duela was just making a distraction so she could make off with my pretty new necklace? That would really be a bad choice. Searching for the futon, Enigma felt something smack her in the chest, and powder shot out in all directions.
“AH!” Not up the nose!! Okay. Duela is really gonna get it now. Enigma spun around looking for Duela. Looking for…who? What was she doing here? Something with a really nice TV….. She shook her head trying to clear up the memories from just a few minutes ago…
Duela! That’s why she was here. The traitor tried to kick her out of her own….oh…wait. This was Duela’s place. Well, maybe after she defeated Duela she could take over this very nice place with a very nice TV. The smoke started to clear some, but she still needed to find her opponent.
“MARCO!!”
Duela Dent - December 5, 2010 05:39 AM (GMT)
Before Duela could stop herself, she answered.
"POLO!!!!"
Oh crap. She let on where she was. Now Enigma knew where she was, and it was all her own fault. Not good. And now, the smoke was starting to clear. Things were not going well for her tonight, and she was in her own stupid apartment! She felt around for another gadget, but they were all over and she was starting to panic massively. She tripped and fell to the ground. She was going to get the crap beat out of her and she was powerless to stop it.
You have fighting skills dummy! Use them! This time it was Raven talking, and she was crouched next to Duela. Duela waved through the hallucination and it disappeared. This was no time to lose her head. She got up and looked around for Enigma, waiting for her attack.
Enigma - December 5, 2010 06:05 PM (GMT)
Perfect! Duela replied. Enigma swung around in the direction of her voice. She heard a thud, and knew for sure that Duela was over there. She could almost see Duela, but for some reason, she was on the ground. This is too easy. Why isn’t she fighting back?
Enigma lunged at Duela, ready to tackle and pull some hair. Unfortunately for her, she forgot there was a coffee table in the middle of the room. She heard a sad crunch, and dropped her head down on the table. Not the chips. She rolled off the table and hit the floor. This wasn’t really going like she thought it would.
Enigma jumped up ready to swing her hurt stick at Duela, but realized it wasn’t there anymore. It was right next to Duela.
Duela Dent - December 6, 2010 04:24 AM (GMT)
A stroke of luck! Enimga had neglected to monitor her environment, and fallen over her coffee table. As a bonus, her cane had fallen right next to Duela. Now, she had a weapon. She could smash her opponent easily. But, as she held the bronze stick, she knew she couldn't attack Enigma with it. She hurled the stick across the room and turned to see Enigma fully recovered, and probably about to pummel her to a pulp.
Duela took up a defensive stance and prepared for attack. Now that her initial rage was over, she was ready to finish this fight and talk.
Enigma - December 14, 2010 01:36 AM (GMT)
…..What? Duela got up with the hurt stick in her hands……and threw it away? Enigma almost felt a pang of guilt. Duela was playing fair. Well, for Duela standards anyways. Enigma breathed heavily, just watching as Duela took a defensive stance. Why were they really fighting? We used to be like sisters. Joining the Teen Titans together….Titans east… it was so much fun working together. Who else knows me better than Duela?
Enigma was lost in her pleasant thoughts, completely forgetting about Duela across the room, probably waiting for the opportune moment. Enigma gave a quick smile and sigh.
But then again…there was a reason we split. Duela betrayed me… what kind of sister does that? She helped Raven because Raven asked her to. That doesn’t sound like something a sister would do. Enigma threw the smile away. Narrowing her eyes.
And it was all Duela’s fault that she was sent to Arkham! If she hadn’t betrayed the team, they could’ve beaten the Titans and been doing so well now! Because Duela betrayed everybody, Titans East lost the battle and she was sent Arkham!! Duela was the reason for the worst three months of her ENTIRE LIFE!!!
This is why Duela deserved to get the crap beat out of her. She was the worst sister in the history of sisters. Enigma gritted her teeth, took a step back and took up a fighting stance as well.
Duela Dent - December 15, 2010 08:52 AM (GMT)
There was a stand off once more. Duela hesitated. She had expected Enigma to charge her, trying to fight. It would seem that neither of the two wanted to fight anymore. Duela lowered her stance and started heading across the room slowly. She put her palms up in defense and kept walking.
Enigma - December 15, 2010 10:54 PM (GMT)
Enigma was truly confused. Duela just started to surrender. But should she be trusted? Probably not, since she has a history of treachery. Maybe they should just talk. Enigma kept still catching her breath. Fighting was exhausting. Not to mention she had just got done running really fast from the police. Duela was like a sister…at one point anyway. Maybe their relationship was worth salvaging. But how many good feelings were left between the two? Considering what they were doing….not much.
Enigma let her mind go blank, and just reacted. She lunged at Duela.
Duela Dent - December 16, 2010 02:35 AM (GMT)
Well, that didn't work, as Duela found herself tackled to the floor. She tried to fight back, but now Enigma had her pinned. So much for trying a diplomatic approach. Of course, with Engima in her hot headed mode, there's no diplomatic solution, so Duela would have to readjust her plan. Her newest toy yet. She angled her torso so that the orange flower on her suit pointed at Enigma's face.
"HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAAAA!!!! Do you know who my father is? He's the JOKER. And do you know what one of his most infamous gadgets is? That's right, its the Joker Venom, hidden in his flower pin. Well, being the good little daughter I am, I modified this contraption, and its staring you right in the face."
Duela waited a few seconds, giving the latest bit of information the chance to sink in, then continued. "Now, I really don't want to kill you Enigma, but if you don't get off me, I may have to use it. Are you going to listen now?"
Enigma - December 16, 2010 11:09 PM (GMT)
Oh crap. Enigma’s grin of victory faded into a shocked frown. She knew all too well about the Joker. He was sort of famous at Arkham. Psh. Whatever. Now she was too. Anyways, it was surprising that Duela pulled this trick out of her family tree. Why this one? Maybe because it was useful in battle. It was just staring her in the face. Enigma scowled at Duela and jumped up.
It kinda felt good to hear her laugh again. It brought back some of those “happy memories.” Since Duela wanted to “talk” guess it was time to think about them instead of the whole betrayal thing. Enigma sighed and gave Duela a look. She flipped over and picked up her hurt stick, leaning on it in a casual way; as if they had not just tried to kill each other.
“I’ve already said what I have to.” That seemed like a safe thing to say. “Anything you would like to share with the class?” Enigma cocked her head with faked innocence and curiosity. No matter what she did say, or didn’t, nothing could make Enigma forgive Duela.
Duela Dent - December 19, 2010 11:57 AM (GMT)
"I'm sorry." That was a great start. "I never meant for it to end the way it did, and I want a new start. Especially since. . .I died. I recieved a gunshot to the back, presumably by Jason Todd. And then, I kind of almost died again. I have no clue how I came back, but its like time turned back, I can't explain, but I am here again."
That was quite a bit of news to tell in all of one story, so Duela kind of left out the whole adventure of the Voidwalker thing, especially since that was a sore subject anyway with how things ended.
Enigma - December 19, 2010 03:03 PM (GMT)
Sorry. Well, that just fixes everything. Psh. Laaame. Enigma was about to tune Duela out until Duela mentioned death. She almost fell of her hurt stick. If she only had a glass of water, that could’ve been one of the best spit-take, in the history of spit-takes. Gulp. A gun. She got shot. The name Jason made Enigma grit her teeth. So this was Toddy’s fault? Oh, he was gonna pay. Nobody messes with Enigma’s sister.
Now that they were done fighting, Enigma felt close to Duela again. She almost felt…sympathetic. But the whole death twice over thing might have something to do with it as well. Now that Enigma took a good look around the room, she could tell that Duela lived alone…(minus the really nice TV). How fun was that? All alone…
Loneliness. Enigma was kinda lonely. Maybe chillin with Duela would be alright. Duela seemed to be able to get over the Titans East thing. But then again, she wasn’t the one who was punched in the face back then.
“Alright, Duela.” Enigma felt warm. And choked out the next few words. “I…for…give…you.” Wow. That was a lot harder than expected…………awkward silence………………”Sisters?”
Duela Dent - December 20, 2010 12:27 PM (GMT)
Duela was nervous Enigma wouldn't accept her apology, but adding the death twice thing in there seemed to get to her.
"YAY!!!!!" Duela shouted. She hug tackled Enigma, then once that was done she dragged Enigma around the small apartment, showing her around the place. She even showed Enigma her 'Riddler's Daughter' costume, something she made to pass the time and the lonliness, and said that now they could really be sisters with her matching costume.
"I have no clue what we are going to do though. Any ideas?"
Enigma - December 24, 2010 08:45 PM (GMT)
This...is…perfect. “Duela dear, I know just what we can do. I’ve started a crime spree that will take Gotham by storm. Right now, I only have this really pretty necklace…But if we work together, I’m sure we could collect enough pretty shiny jewelry to start our own treasury!!!! What do you say?”
Of course, Enigma already knew the answer. Since they were sisters again, she knew Duela would LOVE to join her in her gigantic crime spree. What fun this was gonna be!!
