Hey guys I am Robert Abaribe a recent graduate from Tradigital, I got offered a rendering freelance contract for a previsualization company out in austin texas to model the interior, texture, light, render a off video clips of a stadium that is being built. They need it ready in 3 weeks max, what do you think the asking price should be for a 3d artist that is green? They want photo realistic using mental ray in max 2010, and I am now just learning max. I need to make the desision today at 6pm, so any advise is good.

Thanks

Hey Rob, Congrats on the contract. The company I am with specializes in these kind of jobs, and to be honest, without knowing the software that well or owning it for that matter, you don't really stand a chance in being able to complete it on time in any form that would be presentable. You would need to take into consideration, designing the stadium, building it, modeling up any accessories, texturing, lighting, and then rendering out the animation, which if you are using a single machine could take anywhere from 15min a frame to 24 hours.

I talked your situation over with my boss and he would like to make you a new offer. If you bring the job to us, we will pay you a finders fee, and we will hire you on to work with us for the duration of the project ( and possibly further) and we will pay you an hourly wage. This way you can learn everything you need to know about 3DS Max, get some money, get the job done and under your belt, and have a kick ass render at the end of it.

Call me ASAP if you want further information, or just to talk it over with myself and my boss at 1-519-354-0118

The deal is open to anyone who brings in a decent job. There aren't many people trained in this field in the area, so if you bring us in a job or a really good contact who will be needing renderings / websites in the near future, we will train you as one of our own and bring you fully up to speed in 3ds max and vray. And when the time comes, which it will and probably soon too, we will have someone who we can bring in who already knows exactly how we do things

man, you should have accepted the offer Thewish gave you. I accepted a minimum wage position at March Entertainment just to get into the industry, and here you were offered a big chance at work experience with decent pay and decided against it.
Out of curiosity, what was your reason for not going through with this offer?

and good luck with the project.
