What Would Everyone Think Of.....

a new digitally remastered movie?Like with all new music and actors. Although the actorsf rom the 70's/60's were superb, i think its time for a new view on the outsiders movie

Although I am sure it sounds like a great idea, I think you can't improve on perfection. I can assure you this movie will never be remade. Sorry.

I hate remakes for the most part. The only time they work is when the original didn't get it right (hi, That Was Then...This is Now. Sorry Emilio ) or in the case of action/sci fi movies where the effects would be improved upon now.

I would most definitely NOT be interested in there being a remake.

I would but it would have to be true to the book. There are some scenes I think could be made better like the fountain scene where Bob gets killed, the only thing is I can't see any other actors in the roles of Johnny, Pony e.c.t.
Anyway I know it'll never happen.

I was on the IMDB Outsiders board the other day, and was blown away by the number of people wanting a remake. I summed it up to being a younger audience who didn't fully respect the book and movie for what it really was.

Yeah nothing to be sorry for, we're a nice bunch really. we don't flame, I'm still half and half, I'd like to see it done with hollywood effects and all but I just couldn't see let's say... Oh my God I don't know any young actors..... I couldn't see anyone else in the roles of Pony and johnny, even the TV series wasn't the same to me.

Oh Lord, I despise remakes especially of original great movies.

I don't know what's gotten into hollywood they're remaking and giving movies that are decades old sequels.

I would hate it if the Outsiders was remade.

I would hate it if they remade the Outsiders, thats my Favorite movie! I hate when they Remake good movies, i mean, its great they wana make it better and all, but i like the original movies better, beacause sometimes they remake them and its tottally diffrent the the original.

I defiantly would not like them to remake the Outsiders I cant see anyone as Ponyboy other then Jay and Tommy. It would just ruin the effect.

i couldn't stand it if they made a remake. They would probaly stick some of the teen stars of today in the roles, and to me none of them have talent. You know?
Most of them are in the teen magazines (that Tommy and ralph and the guys used to rule) because of their family. i just can't stand the thought!

I was trying to think of could fill the parts and i can't think of anyone especially for the role of Dallas... Matt was just great. I can't think of any young actor who isn't pampered.
I think if they were ever to do a remake and I know it'll never happen.. but on the off change it did, then they should pick unknown actors off the streets, kids who actually live through this poverty, to play the greasers.
The only young girl I could think of to play Cherry was that lindsey lohan and I don't think she'd do a good job.

The Outsiders can never be remade. It's a classic, that's like re-doing Mickey Mouse's Trailer!

I agree that some other younger people don't get it still, but other people who are still young know how to appreciate it as well. Me and my friends would be greatly disturbed if someone re-did the Outsiders, and we're only in the beginning of Highschool!

yup I know what you all meen. I didnt completley mean what I said about new actors, but I think the new-ish soundtrack did it some justice

i would!!!! you know, me and my friends have been trying to make an outsiders movie. I have a night lens for my camera and we have a fountain (exactly like the one in the movie) in my neighborhood park.

we even have a vacant lot in out park and you can see the stars perfectly. We have a gas station in walking distance. a movie theatre at my friends house (he lives in apartments, so he has one in his lobby)

we have a fire pit at the park

a dairy queen

a railroad a mile from my house. (we would do the train scene by not actualy getting in the train, but running close to it, and then film Johnny and Pony in the corner of a room in a house, so it looks like the corner of the train car, and the not actually show us jumping off, but kinda fade out to use going up a hill. we have a dirt trail below the rail road tracks)

my friend down the street owns a mustang and a corvette and they are fully oporational. (its not a corvair, but oh well)

we have a rich neighborhood a mile from my house and my one friend lives in a kinda dumpy neighborhood.

we have a run down church 3/4 mile from my house.

i have an x-acto knife, but it looks like switch blade

we have leather jackets from when my mom was a kid and denim jackets. all my friends wear chuck taylors and jeans.

i look like a girlier version of johnny. I have the same eyes, and if Ralph Macchio had a sister, I'd look like him (the younger ralph.) and I have dark hair, and I'm the smallest out if my friends :D

We have a Hospital in walking distance, and I personally know some of the people, so I'm sure they'd let us use it on a day that they're not busy.

I have friends who would fit all of the character perfectly :D

I really like the idea of FMs (fan-movies), as many as possible. It means people are identifying with the story but I don't think we'd need a new professional movie. I marvel at the fact that such an old-fashioned movie with next to no special effects and action, labeled in germany for children from 12 years upwards while much tougher stuff is shown to six-xears-olds, holds such a fascination to young people. It's some sort of alchemy and not to be bettered by up-to-date movie making.
