just watching rumble fish again for the first time in years. It's really weird. I forgot Nicolas cage was in it. Do you think Rusty James was with all lots of different women because of his mother. Not a big fan of the film it's very hard to follow I'm glad I read the book otherwise I don't think I would have underdtood it. One things for sure the older you get the better this film is not. I still don't like it after all these years. Matt Dillion and Micky Rourke are hot though. dose anyone else feel the same or is it just me? the film dose not do the book justice. Wonder what SE Hinton thought of it

I was kind of let down when I watched it the first time. sad.gif I had been waiting for months to watch it, but then it was nothing what I thought it would be like. My older brother thought it was dumb how only the fish were in color. He kept saying like, "Dude it would be so awesome if the blood were in color too!" and stuff like that.
What really bugs me is how dirty it was. Like they were always swearing. But I guess I was expecting it to be exactly like The Outsiders....

But it has a lot of great acting. And an awesome soundtrack..... That's all I've got to say for now.

Oh my God I remeber watching that scene where they're at the party when I was about 15 and my mother walked in. She turned it off. The swearing didn't bother me it was more real. my friends and I used to swear all the time in our teens. Sometimes we couldn't even string a sentence together with out every second word being a swear. thankfully we've grown up since then. Anyway going out to play on the bouncy castle now. biggrin.gif

What do you mean lots of different women? He had a girlfriend and cheated on her, but I don't think he was with anyone else unless I don't remember correctly.
Rusty James didn't exactly come from a functional family environment so it makes sense that he would do things like that, although I'm not completely excusing him. ;)

it was something the sister said said while hanging out the window. She said Rusty was always with other girls when his girlfriend asked if he was busy with girls.
He called her a traitor. now I couldn't find my book last night to check up on it. I doubt I could read it anyway gotten too old. sad.gif He jumped into bed with that other girl quick enough though hey. I would have left him too the way he treated her. I can't remember her name now.

I was at our local Half Price Bookstore and was browsing the collectible area and found the paperback book of Rumble Fish in a glass locked case. The price tag $50. I am assuming that it was an orginal print and thats why it was going for that price. It had a cover that I had not seen before.

I had not planned on buying it but I wanted to post it here in case anyone might be interested in it. I need to know more about why its $50. I may have to ask someone there. Hopefully I will have an answer soon.

Hi James, what did the cover look like? Maybe it was a rare edition or signed by Susie inside? I might be interested if it's one I don't already have :)

Im glad you asked. I went back in the store and I asked to see the book. I looked at it and it was signed by S.E.Hinton herself. They still might have it. As far as the cover. It was one that I dont think I had seen before but I will try to get a mental image again if you want me to go back and take a look at it.
