Santa Luna Museum of History and Art
Friday, 3:34 PM

The lobby was quiet. The receptionist, a pretty blonde girl with bubble-gum lips and a piercing on her left eyebrow, sat unusually still with her hands laced behind her head.

THOOM

The doors burst open, and from them spherical metal globes flew in, brandishing weapon barrels sprouting from the underside like barnacles.

Professor Zeno stepped in, wielding a rather fiendish looking laser pistol and black-out steel-rimmed goggles.

"Everyone please remain calm, as long as each of you does exactly as I say, none of you will come to harm. If anyone tries to stop me, zen I cannot-

"I'm the only one here, sir..."

Zeno stopped mid sentence and looked down at the young girl.

"Why are you holding your arms like zat?"

The girl looked forward. "B-because she said that if I moved she'd hurt me."

Zeno raised his eyebrows. "And...who is she?"

The girl breathed deeply. "The woman who's robbing the museum."

Zeno opened his mouth to speak, but then furrowed his brow in confusion. He simply walked further into the museum, his sentries following.

(I do hope this is adequate as an introduction, Izra, if I need to change anything do let me know.)

Kali moved with quiet grace through the back exhibits of the museum. There were only small glass cases with an occasional piece of old pottery in these rooms, all the major exhibits were toward the front of the museum. Still she moved with purpose as if she owned the place, with the old man strolling calmly at her side in his suit. She knew exactly what she wanted, the museum hardly remembered that they possessed such a glorious piece so she'd decided they do not deserve it.

It was in a case imbedded in the wall, The Dagger of Kalumshanti. Absolutely beautiful and bejeweled, and supposedly enchanted with the spirit if a king. She paused and smiled at her find.

"You could carve quite a few hearts with that blade," Father said with a grin.

"Should the time come, perhaps." Kali replied, then wrapped her red sash around her fist and shattered the glass. The alarm had been disabled so there was no noise but the crash that both Kali snd Father seemed to find strangely satisfying. She reached in and took the dagger, wrapping it in her sash and tying it to her.

Then, quietly they started to leave.

((The intro works nicely, Xi!!! )))))

Of the world forever, it seems...."

"Excuse me," Zeno stepped into the hall in front of Kali and her posse, for lack of a better ascertainment. "But I was unaware zat anyone else would be robbing zis museum today. Who ze hell are you?"

Kali paused and blinked at the man as they came into the lobby. She glanced at Father beside her, and the two of them looked very confused.

Then, slowly she grinned, "You are incredibly rude. Has anyone ever told you that it's more polite to introduce yourself first, before demanding someone else's name?"

Another female voice joined the conversation, she'd been standing in the lobby for some time guarding the door and picking her moment to make herself known. "Plus, we didn't know we had to clear a schedule with you, friend."

Kali grinned at Morrigan who was standing behind Zeno at the door, with a very lean and sleek assault rifle. Morrigan smiled back and readied the rifle for use, casually waiting to see how this would go down.

"To answer your question, however....despite your rudeness....I am Kali. And if there are things here you wish to take, then so be it. But, I've gotten what I came here for and if you'd be so kind, I'll be on my way with it." She gently patted the bundle that was tied to her, and straightened herself not the least bit intimidated.

Zeno raised his eyebrows. Then he set a finger on his goggles as his database searched for relevant inquiries.

"Kali, Kali...Ah! I am so sorry, madame, I had no visual entry for you or your compatriots. As far as I knew, you were merely common vandals. A hundred pardons, I assure you." Here he made a small bow, taking off his hat, but still keeping hold of his gun.

"If I might follow suit, I am Professor Viktor Zeno. Ever your servant. But as for leaving, I am afraid my sensors tell me that ze specialist vigilantes at Castillo Del Zorro have already embarked and will be here in a matter of moments.

"If you want an easy way out, stay a while and hear my proposition. If you do not mind fighting off a small army, zen by all means, you know where ze door is."

"You wouldn't get too far, either way."

Denver stepped out of a darkened corner of the room.

"Relax," he said as his hands raised in an assuring manner.

"I would also like to make a deal, though to be honest I don't care much for your plans. I have a question I would like answered." Denver slid a few photographs of Wrath and his sword towards Zeno's feet.

"You're a smart man professor." He turned towards Kali, "No offense, lady," and focused back on Zeno. "This man and his... energy storage device. Are there others?"

"Oh." Denver pointed up. "Compliance would earn you a distraction if you choose to stay or escape."

Several dozen heavily armed figures appeared behind the upper windows of the building, surrounding the majority of the museum.

Morrigan cursed under her breath when she saw the newcomer and then realized that the front door would not be there escape route. Kali's frown was deepening. She'd seen that look on her face before, and that normally meant bloody business was about to follow.

Father readjusted his tie, still seemingly harmless, and gestured for Morrigan to move over and join them. He could feel the frustration radiating off of Kali at the sudden turn of events, so he stepped forward--ever the diplomat.

Father spoke quietly and calmly, one hand casually inside his jacket pocket, "Look, gentlemen. It seems we are all indeed after something this day, but this is hardly the place or the time to discuss larger matters. If Santa Luna's finest are bearing down on us as you say, Professor, then I would suggest we make a hasty exit. We have plenty of safe houses we can move this conversation to, I assure you."

Kali glanced at Denver, then the professor, and then over her shoulder at Morrigan and gave a little nod. Morrigan nodded back and then jogged further into the building barely making any noise when she moved despite her heavy boots. She went to double check the back exits, plan B had already been arranged should they need it. She just needed to double check to make sure it was all in place.

Zeno looked briefly down at the photos before bluntly walking towards a display case.

"More of ze sword or more of ze man? I assume negative accounts on both."

Inside the glass display case was a copper sphere engraved with many lines that curved and whorled across the surface. He unceremoniously smashed the glass open with his gun butt, reached inside and picked up the sphere.

He held up the puzzle-ball, marveling at the craftsmanship.

"How fitting, something so elegant would have such importance towards my goal."

He realized that time was short, however.

Zeno slipped his gun back into its holster, and then took out his watch. Stepping close to Kali's entourage, he adjusted the time field to accommodate his guests. He turned back to face Denver.

"I'm afraid, Mr. Denver, I won't be needing your services for an escape. I wish you ze best of luck fighting off whatever hell comes through zose doors, and I do hope you can escape. I may have use for you yet. Till next time."

Zeno pressed down on the watch trigger. Teal light engulfed himself, Kali and her troupe.

And then they were gone.

(Alright superheroes, get in here and kick some ass.)

"Damn," Denver said, astonished. "Smith, 'you see that?" He turned around and Smith emerged, fully armored.

"Yeah, it was, uh-"

"Pretty cool, right?" Denver always got a little excited when it came to technology he couldn't understand. "Alright. Tell the boys we don't have to back up anyone today, but we may need to get a little rough."

Smith turned away and started speaking on his radio.

Denver was hoping to talk his way out of the situation, but with just him and some armed guards in a broken in museum, the odds looked pretty bleak.

"What about the sword, boss?" Smith said as he walked over to the photos laying on the ground. He picked them up. "That guy said this thing was the only one, right?"

"Yeah." Denver took off his helmet and goggles. "Seems like it, according to the professor. Which is good, I guess. Don't want any more freaks sucking the life out of people. I-" He began shaking his head.

Smith stared at the photos of Wrath and his sword. "How do you think it works?"

Denver began walking around, examining the exhibits. He had some time to kill before his 'friends' showed up anyways.

"I can only assume. Probably some chemical reactions, breaking down the hydrogen bonds, reacting with the ATP and absorbing the energy... Hell, it could be magic for all I know."

Denver stopped at a copy of the old city charter displayed on a wall. "But if there's only one it's useless anyways. We need power, Smith. Condensed, portable energy..." Denver's hand ran down the glass that housed the charter.

"We've got inbound, sir!" One of the guards shouted as he ran towards Denver.

Denver analyzed the situation. Too many of them, too many injuries or needless deaths. He turned to face his comrade. "Tell them if they want to leave, then go now. We don't have much time left." He said.

"Yeah, but none of us are leaving," asserted another guard, with the other 42 spread out behind him. "We're with you all the way."

(Feel free to engage and injure/kill/arrest his guards. There are 44 of them armed with assault rifles and body armor)

But then his watch started beeping.

A sphere of blue light engulfed him, causing the young receptionist to shriek in shock. The sphere imploded on itself, centering on the watch at Zeno's side.

"Temporal fields synchronized, I assume zat you remember ze past half hour?" Asked the elder Zeno.

"Clear as a bell, old boy," responded the younger Zeno within. "Round 2."

He briskly walked down the hall, this time ignoring entirely Kali and her com padres. He again smashed open the display case, grabbing the puzzle ball for a second time.

"Denver! I know you and your troops are here. I have a business proposition for you. It would be most beneficial for you to accept. If you're interested, get down here, now!"

Denver walked out from behind a display case. "And here I thought I was going to make a cool entrance. Guess I need to update my stealth gear... What is this about a business proposition?"

Denver was extremely confused and very intrigued at the same time.

"Let us say simply zat while zis is your first time meeting me, it is not my first time meeting you in zis room. As for her," he glanced to Kali. "She had her chance."

"I can teleport you and myself to a safer location, but I'm afraid your troops are on zeir own, even I have limits. And no, I know nothing about either ze sword, or ze man wielding it."

Kali watched the man go past her and smash the glass, taking his own artifact. She glanced at Father and both of them frowned. This could get messier than they had planned. She smashed the glass of her own case, wrapped up the dagger and tied it to her with her red sash.

Then, she went to the hall, whistled sharply and watched as Morrigan came in to view from the lobby.

The men saw Morrigan appear briefly with the assault rifle, from some unknown hiding place. She didn't make a sound as she looked down the hall to Kail and Father, and then she glanced back at them. "This should be fun." She snickered and rushed down the hall toward the back.

Kali and Father were already out the back door and to the vehicle that awaited them down a back alley of the loading docks. Morrigan came out the back door after them, then hit a button and reactivated the alarms. The entire building started to shriek with a high pitched squeal that could be heard for at least a block. Morrigan chuckled and hopped into the limo that waited, stowing the assault rifle in a compartment in the seat.

Then, The Old Gods, drove away quietly with no one there to care what they had done, and the perfect patsies inside the museum to take the fall for their robbery.

((Nice time jump!!! ))

"Am I the lamest of the bunch?" Denver shrugged then breathed in deeply. "BOYS!" It was a deafening roar, louder than the alarms.

Forty-four of his men jumped down through the upper windows dragging the glass shards with them, like a sharp, glistening rain. Then all hit the floor in unison with a loud thud and rose slowly.

Denver turned to Zeno. "Sorry professor, that discussion would have to be after this. Leaving my men to fight while I run off has never been my style." He then faced Smith, who was leaning against a wall. "Take five of them and get out of here."

Smith and five men ran off leaving Denver, 39 of his men, and Professor Zeno in a wailing room with pulsing yellow lights.

"Stay if you want, professor, but I can't guarantee that your fancy clothes wont get a little tattered," Denver chuckled.

Zeno raised his eyebrows, then grinned menacingly, removing his laser pistol from its holster.

"Young man, I've been doing zis for far longer than you have. But first, I zink I have a score to settle."

The younger Zeno blinked his left eye inside the holograft, revealing the neural controls to the 7 sentries still in the hall near the entrance.

"Sentries Beta and Delta, pursue the party of three that is leaving the museum. Eliminate with extreme prejudice."

The spherical robots, the size of medicine balls, rocketed down the hall, punching sentry-sized holes in the walls they encountered before exploding out the back of the museum.

They shot after the limousine, spraying the car with energy blasts and gunfire.

(Oh no, Izra, you don't get away that easily. Continue in Santa Luna. To the heroes reading this, feel free to notice the gunfight on your way to the museum.)
