Story:

"My grandmother told me that the city was named after the Banshee in Irish stories. See all the immigrant workers that settled and built this city way back, believed that there was something here. That the harsh winds that wipped the buildings sounded like a banshee's wail, foretelling someone's death.

There were a lot of fueds here in the old days. As grandma O'Connor says, 'the blood burned hot'. But, the city thrived. Seemed like it was just destined to be that way. Still....everytime I hear the wind.....I know the banshee's coming for someone."

------------segment reported in case study of Judith Brown, March 5th, 2007---------

Bansith City sits with it's back to the Blueridge Mountains, United States. It was settled in 1841, and thrived well. There all kinds of modern conveniences that came to the city, and soon money even decided to invest. Some of the wealthier families of Virginia even built their summer homes there, and eventually brought funding for schools, art centers, and universities.

In 2007, Bansith City was hailed as one of the largest cities in the mountain range, and yet still "a little piece of home".

It's a big city nonetheless. Boosting two community colleges, and the rather large campus of Delphi University, whose School of Arts and Sciences has produced great acclaim.

To the people that live there, the city is a great place to be. But, some would say there is a dark underbelly. Most laugh it off. Many believe it's just superstitions and myths. However, among those studying the paranormal, the city has a record breaking number of incidents and hauntings. Of course, the community just smiles and laughs about this. They take that as a mark of historical pride. There is even a historical Ghostwalk in downtown Bansith every year around Halloween, and the museum has a section dedicated to some of the most notable historical haunting grounds.

Among the two malls, the shopping centers, the bustling restaurants, bars, and theaters there is something darker. Every city has it's crimes, missing people, murders, and the like. This is nothing new. Though, sometimes things are not explained that easily. Sometimes, there is no way to continue on as if nothing is happening. Sometimes, you can't help but see......what's really lurking in the shadows, and once you see it........there's no going back.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

GAME STRUCTURE: This will be a horror based game. Each episode with have a specific story. I will only be writing about the story, and moving the story along depending on what the characters do, so that means I'm in charge of the NPC's and all the world you're going to interact with. I won't complicate things by trying to play a character too. lol

Anywho, as I said before, the city is large. It has big business, suburbs, slums, etc. etc. Everyone is human. This is a paranormal game, though your characters can not be paranormal.

I want everyone to create regular people. They can be students at the university, bank tellers, or just anyone! Anyone you can think of that would live in this Bansith City. Now, they are allowed to be quirky. If your character already believes in the paranormal, as some of us do, then feel free to incorporate that. However, keep in mind, the point is that your characters have never really seen anything like this before. This is a break from their reality. This is NOT normal, and they are NOT prepared for this.

Think how you would react if right now a ghost strolled through your wall? I'm not so sure it would be calmly. heh.

Here's how I want the character sheet to go.

Name:
Age:
Occupation:
Appearance:
Bio:
Possessions: (this is the normal stuff your character carries on their person in day to day life. Like a lighter because they smoke, or mace in their purse, etc. Anything you normally have on you should be justified. So, if you carry a knife or a handgun, make sure you have a good story as to WHY)

The only other thing I will say is that because this is episodic there are bad things that will happen to the characters. Please, be okay with that.

In every story, I will have planned ahead of time 3 things that your characters CAN NOT DO OR THEY ARE DEAD. You won't know what they are. It's like a puzzle. However, if your character does any of those three things, you will recieve a PM from me about the character being dead, and I will give you One last chance to PM me back and try to save yourself. I believe the greatest things humans have going for us is our ability to improvise and our resilience. heh.

If you are okay with all those rules!-----Then, I can't wait to start!!!

And we are the dreamers of dreams,
Wandering by lone sea-breakers,
And sitting by desolate streams.

Upon whom the pale moon gleams;
Yet we are the movers and shakers,
Of the world forever, it seems...."

heh. Glad you're in, Jake!

It'll be a little more than just a puzzle everytime, that was just the example I used to for the whole YOU'RE DEAD, thing. I want the characters to feel free to have their own stories in the city, and really be a part of this world.

Though, there will be an arc everytime, I would love it if we have a good set of characters who start to develop relationships that become a larger overarching story.

ok, here's my character:)

Name: Liane Winters
Age: 20
Occupation: History student
Appearance:
Liane is 5’8’’tall, slender, with long red hair and moss-green eyes, giving away her Irish blood (through her mother’s line). She’s usually dressed in a pair of white jeans and a green T-shirt. She wears a silver Celtic cross on her neck, some multicolored bracelets on her right wrist and a delicate pair of silver-rimmed glasses. Her hair is usually tied up in a ponytail.

Bio:
Liane is descendant from on of the first families to set foot in this town. She has lived here all her life, being raised by a mother with a penchant for popular Irish myths and a more pragmatic, if understanding and kind, father. She has no siblings and is at present orphan, her father having died 4 years ago of lungs cancer and her mother following him one year ago, after a terrible accident. She has always been seen as past nerd and part weirdo (for her belief in everything that goes bump in the night) by her classmates, which is why she is a fairly cynical person. She chose to study history mainly to be able to find explanation and proof for her beliefs.

Possessions:
She carries a small backpack, that holds a spare t-shirt (she is forever going on “expeditions” out of town ), a magnifying glass (for studying old manuscripts), a small compendium with English terms translated in Gaelic, Latin and Sanskrit (ancient languages she is presently studying in school) , a hairbrush and some hairpins. There are also the keys to her house and car, a mobile phone (she never leaves the house without it), some money.

ok, Izra, just let know if there's anything you want changed about the character smile.gif

Looks good! I like her! She'll fit in well with some of the stories I'm plotting.

Hopefully we'll get more who want to play. I'd love to have at least three players. *crosses fingers*

Sound good, Hermes. I want to make sure that this is done right, so I'm willing to take a little time with it, to get it started.

Hey, Izra. I've snatched a few minutes on my brother's computer. I have a female, journalist character ready to go. I'll post her profile on Monday.

Cool! No problem! I'm still trying to decide which story to hit you guys with first. I want to make sure it's good and scarey, a bit of a challenge, and interesting enough to keep you coming back. *evil grin*

How's this?:

Name: Sara Robinson
Age: 26
Occupation: Writer – gossip column.
Appearance:
user posted image
Sara is 5’9 with long, straight black hair and kissable, smiling lips. She is slim, though with well-defined curves and has a tendency to wear smart, fitted clothes and is always professionally turned-out.
Equipment: A pack of big, expensive cigars; a box of matches; a writers’ notebook; a gel pen; a mechanical (propelling) pencil; medium-sized, name-brand handbag; emergency makeup (lipstick; face powder; small brush; bobble (scrunchy); a pack of tissues); cell (mobile) phone; purse; keys.
Biography: Sara had lived in Bansith City all her life, but she dreamed of so much more. Finding she had a flair for reading and writing at a young age, Sara’s parents nurtured it at every opportunity; for Christmases and birthdays she received books and writing material. At the request of her parents, she was studying English three years above her age-range at school. By the age of ten she was correcting her parents’ grammar and talking about being a writer in ‘the Big City’, with no real idea where the Big City was nor how to get there.

As she grew older, her passion for writing never dimmed, though her ambitions did. Being brought up in such a fiercely proud and parochial community (despite its size), she knew that to want to leave was tantamount to blasphemy. Nonetheless, when she was old enough to leave home, she did, finding a modest, one-bedroom apartment just off the city centre. She left behind both parents and a younger brother who she visits rarely. Soon, she managed to find herself an entry-level position at the local paper, The Blueridge Bugle. She filed research and made coffee for almost two years. That was until “Gracie Gossip” unexpectedly left one day, and Sara was thrust into the limelight. Luckily, she had been waiting for this day, and shined in the half-page column. The drunken comings-and-goings of the local C-listers had never seemed so thrilling than when Sara was communicating them. After only two editions, the job was officially hers.

With a decent-level wage now coming in, Sara picked up a taste for the finer things in life from her (much better-paid) colleagues. The best wines, fast cigars and the finest dining that Bansith could provide all became regular vices of hers. Since school, she has never had any sort of relationship (serious or otherwise) finding men of her own age largely silly and closed-minded. The occasional one-night stand satisfies her needs and she doesn’t really have any desire to have anything more.

Now she spends much of her time looking for that story: the one that would propel her from silly-fluff-writer to ‘Journalist’ with a capital ‘J’. She’s completely ignorant of anything that might be lurking in the shadows besides muggers and the odd rapist. She writes off any rumours she hears as tall tales or drunken imaginings. Nothing more.

Hermes, I like it. Nicely done. I think you and Selena's character are inquisitive enough to get yourselves into a lot of trouble. LOL

*evil laughter, and Mr. Burns grin* Excellent....
