Introduction to acting for the camera

Learn how to audition for and break into the local commercial and industrial industry. If you already have an agent but want to increase your "Bookability" this workshop will give you the edge over your competitors! This workshop will give you:

Experience with the actual audition process: You'll work on-camera all day doing both prepared and cold readings, and receive plenty of feedback from instructor Richard Mason.

Script analysis skills: We have written our own textbook that breaks this process down and makes it simple.

Comfort in front of the camera: How do you stand? How do you hold the script? How do you deal with your partner and the camera at the same time? What is a slate? What do you do with your hands?

Practice at doing all types of commercials: Scene work, improv, one-liners, bite and smiles, handling products, etc.


ABOUT THE INSTRUCTOR
RICHARD MASON SAG/AFTRA/AEA

Richard received his MFA from the American Conservatory Theatre in San Francisco, Ca. He is a regional actor based in Columbus with representation in the Columbus, Cincinnati, Pittsburgh, Cleveland and Chicago markets. His film credits include
'BIRDY' 'SPLIT VISION' and the original TV Pilot for 'THE FATHER DOWLING MYSTERIES'. His recent theatre credits include work at the following companies: Contemporary American Theatre Company (Columbus), Human Race Theatre (Dayton), Magic Theatre (San Francisco), Chicago Dramatists (Chicago), and the Oxford Shakespeare Festival (University of Mississippi).

Richard has been teaching acting workshops for over 15 years - not only in Columbus but also in San Francisco, Chicago, London, England and Boston. He has recently been invited to conduct his workshops at Northwestern University, Otterbien College and the AFTRA Conservatory. Commercial credits include: Pennsylvania Lottery, West Virginia Lottery, Stand Against Tobacco, Adelphia Wireless, Cincinnati Reds, and Safe Auto to name a few and currently can be seen in an Integrity Mortgage and Ricart Mega Mall spot. Industrial clients include: Sprint, Glencoe-McGraw-Hill, Honda Mtg of Ohio, Wendy's International and the City of Westerville. In October 2004 Richard was cast in a Master Card "Priceless" spot with Peyton Manning.
