Welcome to The Darkest of Times, a mature, AU Post-Potter Roleplaying Board. Set nearly 25 years after the end of the Second Wizarding War, a new conflict descends on the Wizarding World.

The Witches and Wizards of Tomorrow, an organization seeking to merge Muggle technology with magic, have just attempted to launch the CloudChaser on 31 December 2022. The dirigible would be capable of mass Apparation across vast distances, but it would never reach its first destination.

The CloudChaser malfunctioned on its maiden voyage killing 935 of its 936 passengers. Among the dead are: the Minister for Magic, the Editor of the Daily Prophet, Harry Potter and roughly half the Hogwarts Student body. The only survivor: Aurae Dulane, Headmistress of Hogwarts School and head architect of the CloudChaser, who fled the scene of the chaos.

Now the Wizarding World seeks someone to blame, as the Emergency Minister for Magic tries to curb the violence that sweeps through the streets.

Meanwhile, a new army of Death Eaters is on the rise, ready to take advantage of the rising chaos. Simultaneously, stirred by unrest about them, an ancient cult of Witches and Wizards known as the Children of Epona, must decide how to move forward in this new age...

January continues, cold and bitter. Hogwarts is only due to open on 1 February, but the many students who have lost their families remain within its walls. Those unable to take refuge at the school seek assistance from the Ministry, as charities struggle to find homes for those orphaned by the disaster.

With Headmaster Brenden Bonaventure's present absence after the death of Celia Sycamore, it falls to Morpheus Black to find staff replacements, and the Darkling's allies take a firm hold on the school.

A funeral for Sycamore takes place at the Château de Bonnefontaine, but things are going to take an unexpected turn when several uninvited guests arrive after the ceremony...
