In the 1997-2000 period, a time of primary school for myself, the Nintendo 64 and the original Playstation were the prominent gaming systems. While Playstation had several mags to represent them, Nintendo had the official magazine, and then the unofficial Nintendo 64 Gamer Magazine.

This magazine, though it's topic was Nintendo releases, was mainly focussed around humour, and the topics and images of the games were twisted into not only toilet humour, but many other great moments. The way images were used inspired our widely popular thread Caption It.

The effect this magazine had on me personally, was imense. The way the writers used quotes, used 'inside' jokes, their general humour has largely shaped my humour, and Ashe's as well.

SO I ANNOUNCE A QUEST!!!

I will not settle until EVERY MAJOR WRITER FOR NINENDO 64 GAMER is an active member of our site!!! It is the duty of each member of the Super Happy Site to keep their eyes and ears open for the following GREAT, GREAT MEN, so we can give them the praise they deserve.

Here's the profiles of some of those great men.

Narayan Pattison

The editor for the magazines greatest age, under his rule, total chaos wreacked havok, as articles changed from games, to 'How to have sex with a Gerbil' and such wonderful sillyness. He also had a wit, but was mostly remembered for inspiring the Hardcore Gamer article and the 7 Deadly Sins in one of his editorials.

Troy Gorman

The editor for another of the magazine's great ages, but also was present during it's downfall. Don't let this deter, his wit shined brilliantly in the letters section, where some absolutely golden letters were met with brilliant responses. The 'Mail Bonding' section was my favourite of the magazine, which Troy ruled over.

Arthur Adam

Known for outright sillyness in the most serious of reviews, and also for his rivalry with fellow writer James Ellis, their pay-outs of eachother inspiring somewhat the Pay Out War thread.

James Ellis
user posted image
The hardcore wrestling fan of the band of men, though Troy came a close second. A key part of the Ellis-Adams rivalry which always provided greatness.

Hugh Norton-Smith
user posted image
The prettyboy of the guys, he didn't provide the sillyness, but was able to manipulate much of writing to vanity-based boast-fests, which ran up firey responses in the letters section.

Jack Curtis
user posted image
A key writer in the Steve O'Leary years, wasn't of the sillyness standard of the Narayan or Troy years, but laid the bricks of the golden path to greatness

Alen Trivuncevic

Oft in the background, but his fascination with the Highlander series and his appearance in armour on the gaming night was a great laugh. He also wrote topical and high quality articles, giving the magazine a literal purpose to exist.

Nick O'Shea

Apparently a Pizza Boy who joined in on the crew's gaming night, he became a controvertial and 'harsh' writer, best known for alluding to incest in his review of the Tassie Devil Looney Tunes Game.

Guys, if anyone comes across these men on internet searches, Waffles the most likely as our Hardcore Gamer, please report it to this thread. Otherwise, if you experienced this great magazine, write your account here.

hey who found Nintendo gamer magazines on Ebay for you for 50cents for 10 copies in mint condition... merely stating I momentarily thought they looked like girls..

By the way if you want to find them, do some searches. Google. Search by state, name, email address phone number (from magazine or whatever) just try every piece of info you know about them.
Um also try online blogs (yes they may be fairly oldish now but may use a blog) try livejournal, myspace, blooger.. things like that. If you want to find someone hard enough you will, even if it is just an email address.

We made love on the living room floor
With the noise in the background from a televised war
And in that deafening pleasure, I thought I heard someone say
"If we walk away, they'll walk away"

We have been searching. It's harder than what it may seem.

I object to the spamming of their email inboxes aswell. Not only is it an annoyance to them, but it is also far too easy.

INFORMATION ON HUGH NORTON-SMITH!!!

Could he possible have moved into political correspondance?

QUOTE
Mr Putin, what are your thoughts on the recent American/English bombing of Iraq? Does Russia consider Iraq an international pariah and menace?
Hugh Norton-Smith, Sydney, Australia

He asks this in a 2001 interview with the Russian President.

Keep the updates, no matter how wrong, coming!

no not spiteful. Just taking your advice. You didn't want me to email them because it was too personal.

For anyone that is still interested I found one persons address on the Playstation 2 Magazine website and the second I found on a forum. I didnt save the address for the forum but ask Ashes and The Great Man in your own time and I am sure they will pass it on.
