Silence.

The key was silence.

The crackle of a leaf, the stir of your cloak, the breaking of a branch. All of them could give you away.

Scent. Wolves could smell of course. Better than humans. Werewolves were, thus, no different.

Sight. Wolves saw better than humans in the dark, which is what it was then.

While it was unknown if Werewolves moved in groups, wolves certainly moved in packs. Why should a Werewolf be any different?

Claws and teeth. Both could kill, but only the teeth could turn you. Almost like a Vampire.

Lesse Satsi-Revlis silently reminded herself of all of these things, most learned the hard way, her eyes wide and alert, her silver dagger in her hand. Stakeout was her thing, moving silently and swiftly and carefully through the fields, or seaside, or woods, or where ever else she might be.

A howl sounded in the otherwise silent, still, night. She was off.

~*~

Gods, Les! Where are you?! Katarina Satsi-Revlis thought wildly as she moved swiftly, less carefully. Werewolves and Vampires roamed the more dangerous parts, she knew, but she wasn't looking for either creature right now. Instead, she was looking for her sister who she knew would not be expecting her or wanting her.

A howl sounded in the night, and Kat was off, knowing her sister would investigate the howl as a possibility of a Werewolf.

Katara and Talto followed. They were both black wolves in a black night. Their pelts blended in perfectly. They were not spying. They were concerned for their new found friends. Talto and Katara were at least 3 miles apart, searching. Talto let loose a beautiful howl that floated across the sky. "I found them!!!"She said. Katara answered back and turned towards the sisters.

Les paused. Another howl? And another? She turned her head slightly, noting the direction of the other two, before continuing on to the direction of the first.

~*~

Kat pounded on, her breath comming more raggedly, when two other howls split the night. She paused, greatful to small amount of rest it gave, trying to decide which one to follow. Finally, she decided on the latest and turned slightly to go in it's direction, almost running straight into Katara. Seeing her, Kat swore violently, totaly uncharacteristically, and ended it with, "Where's Les?!"

Katara yowled in suprise and gasped at the lang that came out of the vampire slayers mouth. "Talto said she found her scent. Thats all..." Talto howled again and Katara translated. "She is just ahead and 2 miles west."

Katarina nodded swiftly. She spun about, then sug her hands into her pocket, searching for something. She pulled something out, and fumbled with it for a moment, before opening it and revealing a compass. She quickly pointed it in several directions, and then finding west, closed her compass and threw it roughly into her pocket, grabbing the anthro and tugging her slightly diagonally. "C'mon!"

Katara growled in her wolf form. "FINE! JUST DON'T GRAB ME!" Talto howled again so Katara could stay in contact. "Hop on!" Katara spread her front paws.

Katarina said nothing, only sped on quicker. Her blonde hair whipped out behind her as she dodged trees and bushes, racing after her sister.

~*~

Lesse, too, hurried on. Her breath was ragged and she barely thought, exhilerated as she was. One thing nagged at her mind, though, and she couldn't help but feel a little nervous as she realized the Werewolf she was chasing was heading straight toward Virak.

Katara snorted and ran on. Talto followed at a distance.

As Lesse continued on, she realized at this pace she may never catch the beast it was just in front of her, a large gray one, running on hind legs. Slowing her steps slightly, she dug inside her coat and drew out a bow and five, silver-tipped arrows which gleamed brightly in the moonlight. She inserted the first arrow and drew back the bow, carefully aiming. She let go, and the arrow wizzed out, missing the Werewolf.

Cursing, knowing she'd have to retrieve later (if there was one), she grabbed another arrow, aiming more carefully. A moment after she let it go, she breathed in relief at the cry of pain that echoed around the beast. It broke free from the trees and stumbled into a small clearing, stopping on the farther side. Drawing her dagger and noticing the arrow had went through the Werewolf's shoulder, and despite the species' healing skills, the silver in the arrow was preventing it from doing just that.

~*~

Katarina heard the Werewolf's cry of pain, and hurried on faster. It felt like something had pierced her side, though it was only a stitch, caused by not being used to so much running. When it had come, she had wondered why she was chasing her sister, but she reminded herself that Lesse had snuck off, to go on Stakeout, without telling her, which was very much not like Lesse. She would have sighed, if she weren't running.

Talto cought sight of Lesse and silently padded forward. She heard the cry of the werewolf and whimpered quietly so that only Les could hear. Talto wa scared.

Katara ran along-side Kat. "What is going on?" She asked.

Katarina ignored Katara’s question. Instead, she hissed under her breath, “Quiet! Save your breath.”

~*~

Les started to advance upon the Werewolf when she heard a whimper. Seeing Talto she hissed angrily, “Wolfie! Get away! Wolfie, bad Wolfie!” She waved her dagger at the dog, before turning back to the Werewolf.

Katara glared at Kat for a moment before running out in front of her and catching sight of Les, staying in the shadows, her black pelt blending perfectly in the darkness.

Talto whimpered, her tail between her legs. "I could help..." She said in wolf language.

Katara stepped out of the shadows, back in her anthro form. "She said, 'I could help.'" Katara said in a voice like the winter wind.
