a noah's arc of illusions

play with me break me

The day was still, or rather, the night was. Surrounded by shadows and darkness, the moon glowing softly behind pastel blue shaded clouds and the oddly lullaby-like sound of the running river, one being, at least, could keep it's mind peaceful.

pull my strings bring me alive

Maybe peaceful wasn't the right word, for, unlike its appearance, it was indeed, brooding. Not about much in particular, but life in general. So, instead of going on a mad killing spree like the previous alpha, the wolf would take a visit to the forest and be reminded of better days.

beat me stop me rape me

Days filled with nothingness and playful boredom, when humans weren't so much a problem as, say, fish. Fish were never bothered, and neither were the wolves. Until, that day. Never mind, though. Without worrying about the past, the alpha had enough on his plate. Taking care of the members of the pack, being passed off as a pupsitter, obliviously - or not, as the case may be - humiliating the beta.

hate me pity me

The wolf slumped beside the small tributary running off from the river and into the forest, long, uneven, thin tendrils of fur being picked up by the wind and swaying about his body. An illusion of a shadow, a ghost, an ethereal being. Something not quite here or there, a little like his mind, which floated from topic to topic with an uneasy calmness.

kill me

"Aori, you son of a bitch," he mumbled, lips pulling back against cream-coloured canines in off-perfect English. Even if he had been trained, the alpha struggled with some words and, despite himself, had just a hint of a lisp. Adds to the charm, he thought cheekily, blue eyes sliding up to look at the sky. What caused the sudden speech would be a mystery to onlookers, but, Aori sighed softly to himself, remniscent of an air of happiness surrounding the wolf.

hurt me tenderly hold me gently

Not knowing the time was a big thing to Aori, and as his eyes drooped, all of time was forgotten. A second, a minute, an hour, days, months, years. None of it mattered whilst you slept. A year could feel like a second, a day a month, in this dreamworld. A shadow-like place, pulling at his mind, black tendrils consuming his body, engulfing him completely.

s-a-v-e me

His maw held a touch of a smile, pulling at the corner of his lips. A secret.

[ screw you and your table ]

Feeling the breeze through his pelt, the brute shifted weight to his left side. How long had he been waiting? "Too long..." He muttered in his gruff voice. His ears twitched impatiently, strained for any trace of noise.

Romke had been on guard...Or rather he'd been waiting. He held a frown on his handsome muzzle, worrying getting the best of him. Although he'd never let him know that. Never. Romke would never hear the end of it.

As a small sigh escape his muzzle, he got to his feet. He hesistated, placed a paw forwards, then withdrew it. He scowled. "Damnit Aori." He growled, and with that he briskly walked off, a scowl still on his alert face.

Romke's blue and white pelt seemed to look almost normal on him, and the grey triangle beneath his one eye and the three grey dots under the other seemed almost routine. He manged to pull it off. His tail swished nervously as he padded forwards, his ears perked for any noise at all.

"Aori, you son of a bitch"

His ears perked, and his heart quickened. His cheeks even seemed to flush a little. He scowled at this. Stupid...Can't let him do this to me everytime.... You'd think after the first few moons this feeling would fade, but no such luck. It annoyed him.

He poked his head out from the brush, and spotted the long haired form of his Alpha. He trotted up to the male, and surveyed him quickly. Sleeping. Of course. Romke's eyes narrowed, and then he felt a smirk rise on his lips. Revenge. He dipped his muzzle, and then with all his force he went to push Aori's sleeping form into the water.

a noah's arc of illusions

Just like that, all those tendrils withdrew from his body, stopped suffocating him and enabled him to see again. Time came sweeping back into his form and a loud yelp – yes, yelp, because even one such as a the alpha couldn’t keep that high pitched noise from escaping his open jaws - sounded as he splashed into the water. For a few seconds, he struggled as the water moved at a sluggish pace beneath and between his body.

Then realised the damn 'river' was only a foot or so deep. Standing to his full height, long wisps of fur now flat and giving him a decidedly skinny appearance, the alpha shot a look towards his attacker.

Well, the wolf hadn't thought of it being anyone else, even if he was a pushover - no pun intended -, the other members held far too much respect for him.

This brute, on the other hand, did not. It didn't surprise the alpha in the slightest, however, and neither was he all that bothered with being soaked. He would survive by curling up against the Beta, at one point, so it would back fire eventually.

"Ah, my dear Romke, so it was you. I thought I heard you coming," he said, a grin pulling at his maw as he tried to pretend that, maybe, just maybe, he hadn't been sleeping at all. The use of "my dear Romke" was just to ruffle the other's 'feathers', so to speak.

Trotting quickly out of the river and jumping back up onto the bank, Aori shook half-heartedly and then eyed Romke, pondering his revenge.

Well, I'll get him back another day... it would be much more interesting in front of the pack.

As his Alpha released a yelp, Romke couldn't stop a large grin forming on his muzzle. He quickly wiped it off of course, he didn't want Aori to see him smile.

As Aori walked out of the small river, Romke couldn't help but let his gaze wander to the skinny figure of his Alpha. Without his long fur, he was just...Skinny. It was so funny. Romke maintained his scowl, although his white eyes danced. He doesn't look that bad this way... He thought, although he ignored the thought instantly. Who cared what he looked like? Romke was a little taller then Aori, and was a more solid of build, although the two were basically equals. Romke knew this behavior, this lack of respect, could cost him his position. But somehow Aori and Romke had a healthy relationship in that way.

Romke looked away, turning towards the direction of the packlands. Wind ruffled his fur, hiding his muscles tense when Aori spoke. My dear Romke? What a fool..., he thought bitterly. His Alpha had the strangest attitude, and Romke made a point of acting annoyed about it every time. He didn't answer what Aori had said, knowing full well that the brute had been fast asleep. Had Romke been alone, he would've considered letting a smile show.

"You should get back, someone might be worrying about you," He said pointedly, not letting any emotion leak through. Romke had been worrying, he doubted anyone else cared. Aori wouldn't know that, though, would he?

a noah's arc of illusions

Aori stepped a little closer, now only a metre or so away from Romke, and slowly sat down. A smirk pulled at his lips and he raised a brow skeptically, whilst his tail sashayed across the grass in long tendrils of fur.

"Oh, is that right? Is the alpha not allowed out to play every once in a while?" The wolf asked, a teasing note in his voice. Glancing briefly up at the night sky, once again, his mind wandered up to that bright orb, glowing softly. A sudden, chill breeze whipped by, pulling at the wet tangles of fur and making him shudder slightly.

Stoic bastard... His mind vibrated, and he grinned at the thought.

The wolf didn't know or understand why he felt relaxed around the beta. Whether it was the other's way of hardly displaying emotion, even if Aori could see the smiles being held back, or his seemingly work-like approach to protecting him, he didn't know. Either way, Romke was just adorable.

"I can say it's your fault when I keel over and die of pnuemonia, then?" He quipped, accompanying it with a smile. The alpha knew that he'd probably be ignored, but decided to give it a shot, anyway. Anything to get that wolf, spartan of smiles, to a crack a grin.

Romke became oddly self conscious when Aori sat closer to him. He felt his muscles stiffen, not allowing him a break. He ignored the Alpha's first comment, knowing it would be no use to reply.

He felt a shiver down his spine as a sharp wind blew through him and, apparently Aori. He saw his Alpha shudder from the corner of his eye. Romke wanted more then anything to just walk over and lick the cold water from the pelt of his friend.

It was at Aori's next words that caused Romke's ears to perk. At first he didn't react, but then he turned his head and looked at Aori, worry in his every feature. Then he turned back, and then with a heavy sigh he stood and walked up to Aori, and the two were face to face.

It seemed like Romke was battling a tough decision, and almost reluctantly he licked Aori's cheek, for the sole purpose of trying to dry him. He drew back, the scowl prominent on his muzzle, and he looked as his sopping wet Alpha.

"Pathetic..." He muttered, although he couldn't help the corners of his mouth from angling up. This image was just too funny. A beta licking his Alpha dry after pushing said Alpha into a river? When did that happen in real life?

Romke snorted, although truthfully it was only to hide the small chuckle. "Are you going to be alright or would you like me to lick you dry?" He said sarcastically, looking Aori in his eyes.

The alpha seemed stumped for a few seconds. It was only a few seconds, he mused, so the robot shouldn't have been able to pick it up. The robot being Romke, of course. Stoic, loyal in a machine sense, unable to produce any emoti-

Ah! There was the smile, even if it shortly turned sarcastic. It had been good enough to satisfy Aori's need to see the wolf act like a wolf. He wondered, briefly, if the brute would've much rather been a loner, due to Romke's cold disposition.

"Be my guest," He said mischievously, and didn't move from where he was sitting. It was almost as if Aori was challenging the beta. It wasn't like it was unusual for any pack member to lick him, anyway. Instinct, forgiveness, loyalty, even if they were sucking up to him to gain a rank. It was all a display of submissiveness, and, somehow, Aori knew that didn't sit right with Romke.

Tilting his head to the left, and lifting it a little higher than the beta's, Aori eyed the other from the corner of his eye, wondering if he would take up on the challenge, or turn and walk away.

The snort, even from minutes ago, caused a smile to pull at his features, lessening the challenging air. They were friends, weren't they?

Friends, friends, friends.

The swaying of his tail came to a stop, and he managed to supress a shudder when the breeze came again, though it felt warmer than the last. It was summer, afterall, and a warm night.

Romke's twitched his ears. A strange feeling came over him, and he looked at Aori straight in the eye. Then Romke felt his heart deciding on his actions, not his mind. He took a step back, then jumped at Aori's shoulders, knocking his Alpha to the ground. Romke made sure to pin Aori down tightly, and Romke was heavier then the skinny Aori so Romke was sure that Aori was stuck.

Romke decided it appropriate to allow a smug smile on his face. Nothing more, though. He looked at Aori, and felt his stomach churn. He started down at Aori and leaned down a breathe away. He then licked Aori's muzzle.

Romke licked the fur of his Alpha, getting him more dry. He then stopped and looked down at Aori, his smug smile barely there. He felt so...At peace. Like he didn't need to put up any walls. Like he didn't need to feel so...Lonely.

That word struck him like a dagger through his heart.

Lonely. Romke was awfully lonely. He only felt that his loneliness subsided when well...Aori was around. This made him rather uncomfortable. He looked down at Aori, and seeing this brute laying there, suddenly Romke had never felt as lonely as he was now.
