Good topic.
The N-Gage, created by Nokia Laboratories, was touted (used) as the 'killer' of Nintendo's Gameboy Advance. Released in 2003, it has sold a little over one million units in the span of 2 years. What we must take into consideration is the marketing ploys and strategies employed by Nokia to sell their N-Gages. They offered the original N-Gage and QD systems free with a mobile phone plan, and multiple price drops occured to raise sales. Even with the first release of the N-Gage, it failed to even meet the sales of the Nintendo Gameboy Advance. The Nintendo DS crushed the N-Gage further, reaching the same sales mark in 2 months, then went on to sell 6 times as many units. The Gameboy Advance then took its own shot at the N-Gage, selling 70 times more units. The N-Gage is plagued with bluetooth problems, controls, buttons, and lack of quality games. The N-Gage Arena for online play has been a center of many problems, mostly lag and disconnection. Therefore, it failed. -------------------- |

Nokia seems to be more of a cell phone company than gaming.

i personally thought nokia was stupid for trying to defeat nintendo in the handheld market. First, they're rather new as far as i know. Second, Nintendo has dug it's roots way too deep already for the handheld market. Sony can take a chunk of the handheld market, but not enough to defeat nintendo (at least, in my opinion)
