Did Nalia's keep, the Copper Coronet and the slavers, accidentally lost Anomen by impatiently hitting the wrong response to his dialogue about his mission and... sort of haven't gone back. Though it's been a long time I know the game too well. I know where everything is, what strategy to take for every bit of combat. Ok it took me a moment to remember which wete the vital buffing spells, but now its too srcond nature.
It has list its fun. It's like an old comfy pait of slippers, but its not exciting. Its going through the motions. That has made me a bit sad. |

The familiarity was one problem. Another was the two long, long linear parts - the beginning and the rescue of Imoen. I like the Underdark but it really got to be too much, especially when you knew you weren't going to be able to keep the cool Drow armour. If they'd given us the ability to leave and go back in at a later point, it would have been much more interesting. I also found it annoying plot-wise - if my soul and Imoen's were in danger, why would I waste time traipsing around the country picking up treasure and stuff? Oh yeah, because if I don't, I won't have a chance later to come back to do so. The Elder Scrolls are sandbox adventures but I liked knowing that when I did the main quest, I could come back to do the erst.
In some ways I think it would be easier to go back to the original BG because I didn't play the hell out of Durlag's Tower and that add-on. Unfortunately the lack of dialogue among the NPCs made it duller in comparison to BG2. |

Seems BG Enhanced Edition is out September 18th.
I really wonder how different it's going to be -and if it will be able to keep me occupied long enough to finish it. |

Well there are three new NPC's, and one new major area.
Luckily for me I've actually not played BG1 very often, it was BG2 that I overplayed. |

I think I've been mixing up the two games - BG Enhanced and BGII Redux.
I might play BG Enhanced if it is BG1 because I haven't played that to death and it really has been years since I've done it. Or just wait for you guys to tell me what you think of it. :P |

I think I only played BG1 once or twice. I remember that the first time I did it it reminded me a lot of a very old Darksun 2 rpg, both in gameplay and plot aspects - mine/kobolds/corrputed ore/companions (minus the Thri-kreen mantis with 16 attacks).
Still, it was a fine game when released, but couldn't hold a candle to BG2. |

It was the game that got the ball rolling. My best friend had been playing quite a few games on the PC we had at the time and Baldur's Gate caught my attention for the NPCs talking. It was the first PC game I ever played from beginning to end and boy did I love it!
Man, just thinking back to how impressed I'd been by the graphics of Durlag's Tower... :) |

BG enhanced got delayed to Nov 30th... Probably a business decision to cash in by selling it right before holidays... <_<
