Lets make a list of all the creatures we'll be seeing in Skyrim. If you look at the other thread, theres way too much variation I think, we should just stick with a few for now.

---------------------------
Animals:
Wolf
Snow Wolf
Grizzly Bear
Snow Bear
Boar
Horker
Rat

extra animals from mods
Deer
Rabbit
Cow
Horse
Pig
Sheep
Goat
Fish
Dolphin?
Shark?

Other:
Ogrim for Trolls?
Frost Atronach
Storm Atronach
Flame Atronach?
Draugr
Spriggan
Udyrfrykte?
Karstaag?
Riekling?
Riekling Raider?
Goblins?
Bonewolf
---------------------------

What else?

We'll fill that in as we go, I wanted to show this. I think its pretty cool and we should definately use it somewhere.

I don't think we need these:
Rabbit
Cow
Pig
Fish
Dolphin
Shark

We already have Slaughter fish, and I've just found out (from lore) about another fish we can have, but that would probably be best, if we carefully looked for an appropriate deepwater fish, that lives in extremly cold temperatures.

There already is a troll model, that looks like the OB one, made for MW (I'll get the link soon).

We need Minotaurs (which I can get the model for).

Udyrfrykte - should only be kept to 3 in our entire Skyrim mod.

No goblins, as we have Rieklings to replace their purpose, and it should still be up the player to decide, weither Rieklings are/were Falmer, or they are snow goblins. Also backing this up, goblins like warmer climates (from lore).

Dreugh are present in Skyrim, and well into the sea of ghosts, so I'm pretty sure they can handle the cold, so put them on the list, and also (because we can) put the Land Dreugh on the list aswell, as there is one in the community already made that we can use.

Giant Spiders. They appear in lore, and we readily have access to them.

Werewolf, and Wereboar. Both bring on a Skyrim-ish feel. Obviously, we can't touch what happens if you turn into a werewolf, but we could do a werebear storyline/faction thing.

Giant. Not Frost Ginat, but big guy up in the mountains with a club, obviously not to many, and prehaps you can't actually *kill* giants, just knock them out for a few hours. BTW they are in lore, and current lore, even ingame diagrams.

Why can't we have farm animals? There will be quite a few farms...

I've seen only one Minotaur model, and the quality of it wasn't good enough that i'd rather have no minotaur than that one. Only if you can find a good quality one, and a good quality troll we'll use those.

We can add in farm animals more indepth later, but horses, sheep and goats should be enough on a farm. The rabbit we can defiently live without, and the big, and the cow are things that aren't really neccesary, I mean you can have sheep and goats do cool stuff, but those other animals aren't that great at all.

And I'll get right on with the new models biggrin.gif

Use the Kaarstag model for Frost giants, and have only a few Udyrfrykte and perhaps the Udyrfrykte Mother? from OB. And I also saw that one of the main exports of the coastal cities was cod, so there needs to be another type of fish, or retex of the slaughter fish.

We can't have the Udyrfrykte Matron, because of the fact she is in OB.

And we don't need Cod (because that piece didn't actually come from official Lore tongue.gif), however there is a specific type of Fish mentioned in lore that we need (I'll go looking for the source now).

And what about Grahl for Ice/Frost Trolls? Have them mostly in caves, and occasionally out in the open snow. That was one thing I was disappointed about MW's creatures, was the lack of larger creatures, such as Frost Giants, Giants, or Ice Trolls. I really enjoy those "Oh, crap" moments when being surprised with things like that. And it's in the the mountains, where the bigger, badder stuff is supposed to live.

There definitely needs to be giants, I would think. Ones with huge blonde or grey beards. They would probably be frost giants.

Hreinn-Hauss, let me check some Norse translation tools and make a better name for these bad mofos.

I'm just going to find the word for antler and the word for skeleton. Then I will find a way to put them together in a way that fits. If I'm lucky I might find a way to make nouns into adjectives in the old norse language to actually make it accurate, but I doubt it.

Alright, the old norse word for "skull" is huass (so thats already half of the work done), or we could use the old norse word for bone which is "bein".

"Hreinn" means reindeer. I can still see what you mean, though. Although it technically is norse, it doesn't have the stereotypical super gruff norse sound.

I will try icelandic real quick, but sometimes icelandic has more of a mystical sound rather than a "I'm going to eat high elves for breakfast" sound. Let's try it.

Antler is "Hjartarhorn" and Skull is "Höfuðkúpa" or "Hauskúpa". Now that is tough. But how do you pronounce that?

The Norwegian translator didn't work to good, so I'll try Finnish.

Finnish

Antler: Hirvensarvet
Skull: Kallo

Now time for Danish.
Nevermind, the Danish ones are too Latin sounding.

The best ones are the Icelandic ones, I'll try to find out how to pronounce them.

Hjartarhorn is pronounced like Hyartarhorn. Höfuðkúpa is too hard to learn how to pronounce.

We could combine it and make it like Hjartarkupa.

Personally Hrienn-hauss sounds cool enough as it is, but it would look scarier without the hyphen, Hriennhauss.

Yea, I think Hriennhauss would be the best choice.

BTW, why wouldn't you be able to kill giants, The Old Ye Bard?

Why would there be Minotaurs? They are Greek/Roman mythology. I thought that Skyrim would be more Norse influenced seeing that the Nords live their, and they are very influenced by the tales of the Norse people. I would just say a complete rip off, but that's too harsh.

Deer in the southern forests...

That's easy to envision, isn't it?

I think the unorthodox things like giants and stuff.. should be kind of rare in comparison. It's cool to walk around and see like.. birds and stuff, and then suddenly a giant after so-and-so amount of time exploring. It'll be more like... "Whoa, a giant" than "oh, there's another giant, I hate those bastards"
