Thanks for the recommendation Hophead, I do like sci-fi. I have read one of Arthur C Clarke's books, that being Songs Of Distant Earth, which I enjoyed, the main reason I read it, which was back in 1997 was that being a Mike Oldfield fan, I was intrigued, because Mike had written an album based on Mr Clarke's book of the same name. The album of course is amazing. And at the end of the book there is a concert, which gave Mike the idea to make an album smile.gif I have heard that Rendezvous With Rama is a classic, so I'll check it out 023.gif

That sounds intriguing JQF..I'll have to give it a read. I haven't read anything of late that really jumped out at me. My favorite author was Arthur C. Clarke..but we lost Arthur back in 2008. I recently read the last book he co-authored with Frederick Pohl called "The Last Theorem"..and was mildly disappointed. It was okay..just not classic Clarke. You have to be a bit of a science-fiction geek to read Clarke..but to me..he always took me to places beyond imagination. My favorite book of his will always be the 1972 published "Rendezvous with Rama"..considered to be a science-fiction classic. Morgan Freeman has been flirting with the idea of bringing "Rama" to the big screen for about 15 years now..just having trouble getting the financing. So if you like science-fiction (no...not sci-fy...hate that term curse.gif)..check out "Rama" it's a fantastic book!

I though it might be fun to recommend a great book that you have recently read, if reading is your thing dry.gif I want to recommend The Captains Daughter by Leah Fleming. I have a real interest in everything to do with the Titanic. Living in Southampton It's hard to ignore. I read the premise of this book and thought it sounded a good read, I have never hear of Leah before. But I was astounded how good this book was, the Titanic is really secondary to the main story, which deals with the aftermath of a meeting on the Titanic of two women, the story follows there lives after the sinking, but everything they go through can be traced back to the influence of the Titanic. The sinking Itself is over by about 35 pages in. But I just could not put this book down.
