A thread to talk about the Seventh Book and our final Canon.

I'll start:

~ Neville truly is the Herbology professor. And after DH, he's such a true Gryffindor and an absolute gem, isn't he? And his Gran is made of awesome!

~ RIP to Charity, Mad-Eye, Dobby, Fred, Severus, Tonks, Colin, Remus, Hedwig ... erm ... I'm sure I've left somebody off. Oh yes. Crabbe!

~ Rest in Pieces, Voldie.

Is Severus dead? His portrait isn't on the wall in the Headmaster's office. (Ashwinder alert - someone (not me) already as posted a Live!Snape story.)
Yeah, Harry says that he WAS the bravest...

And Neville was a huge surprise!

Read pretty much like he died staring into Harry's eyes just after giving him the memories. I can see where people will try and have him rescued and saved somehow, but I don't think that is what JKR intended.

I am very proud if Neville.

She never did state that he was dead. While it seems so, it is a loophole that can (and already has been) exploited by ficcers.

Neville rocks my hot pink socks off, man.

But like with some others, it was never explicitly stated that Bellatrix is dead either. Personally, I don't see Molly using AK. I think that if she had, JKR would have (should have?) stated it explicitly.

And we forgot to mention Wormtail. That was an interesting passing.

It certainly was.

Though I thought it was a bit of a cop out to have his magical hand kill him.

I mean, honestly? I guess it was Voldemort's built in safeguard, though ...

I'm sure we can toss Doloris Umbridge into the "worse than dead" category. An ironic, iconic ending: Unconcious, in a room full of hungry, free Dementors... Maybe two were the ones she sent after Harry.

She deserved it, though. She's a screwed up, crazy woman.

I hadn't really thought about what had potentially happened to her, though.

I kept hoping that Moody would reappear, and was still looking for him after the last battle. *sigh* More fanfics about Snape's return to life; it's like the the Fibonacci sequence!

Yes, well, if she didn't want to leave a loophole, she should have used the word "dead," "die," "expired," etc ... lol.

I wondered if Moody might reappear somehow as well.

And I would have loved to have seen little toady Umbridge in DE's robes.

I don't see Umbridge as a Death Eater, although I will admit that it would vastly improve her wardrobe (especially the mask). After all, she and Voldie would have a major point of difference of thought: being his that "there is nothing worse than death", and her buddy Dementors' kisses "being worse than death" (can't remember which book that's from).

And she's not afraid/so stupid to tell off centaurs as they're grabbing at her. Can you imagine her and Bella at the table? Although she did think quite highly of Lucius...

Manners, ladies!

Well, where did she get Moody's eye from then? He was killed by DE's, they're the only ones that could have gotten their hands on his magical eye.

I think Umbridge is just a smidge stupid. She could have handled that centaur thing differently (not that she didn't deserve everything she had coming).

Oh goodness, those two at a table would be quite scary. Imagine them discussing future law and policy on sentient magical beings.

In book 5, Moody complained that the eye hadn't fitted right ever since "scumbag" Crouch had it. So maybe it got knocked out, and he wasn't able to "Accio" it without disclosing his position.

Sad to say, though, there hasn't been any Live!Moody fanfic, so I guess I'm by myself on that one...

I know that there's a rule of comic books or something about making sure that the body is dead, which Jean Grey basically blew out of the water (*snerk*)

Anyway, here's what I did find:

Evil Overlord rule # 5

The artifact which is the source of my power will not be kept on the Mountain of Despair beyond the River of Fire guarded by the Dragons of Eternity. It will be in my safe-deposit box. The same applies to the object which is my one weakness.
Okay, so JKR did both at the bank and the trio still beat it. (Looks like she read the list.)

Of course, the series would have been much shorter if He-Who-Whatever knew this:

Evil Overlord rule #117:
No matter how much I want revenge, I will never order an underling "Leave him. He's mine!"

Giggles. So we're saying that Moldy Voldy wasn't a very good overlord, then ;(
