It's fun to look at the list and see which ones he tripped on, although Mother's Love isn't on the list. Interesting that Lily's love saves him throughout the books, but Narcissa's love for Draco also spared Harry in the last book.

Love is a strong theme in the books, as much as JKR seems to avoid seeing what she has included.
On that thought, can any of you see Fred leaving George behind? I think it would be fun to have one twin haunting the other for the years to come. What do you all think? |

Well, Fred did die a violent death, so he may qualify for wizarding ghost, but he definitely wouldn't be afraid to "cross over", as Sir Nick is.
JKR doesn't list another alternative, but I did in "Hogwart's Newest Ghosts" - that Prof. Binns (who did not die in violence) is sticking around because teaching is heaven to him, and Myrtle was waiting to be avenged, but, afterwards, still decided to stick around, and is free to "cross over" whenever, so, yeah, in my opinion, Fred could stick around, kibitzing, until George became an ancient great-great grandpa, and finally leaves life behind. |
