Amu is your typical eleven-year-old girl when it comes to her physical build. Despite her age, Amu is actually relatively tall compared to most, standing at five feet and two inches and weighing 90 pounds. Her build is very thin and angular, with little to no curves, giving her no real womanly figure. Like any average-growing eleven-year-old child, Amu also has no bust to show, which considering her age is nothing out of the ordinary. Her figure generally speaks athletic, although Amu's coordination is nothing of the sort; without the help of her Guardian Characters, Amu is a relatively helpless girl in most things.

Clothing Style(s):

School Uniform
Amu has taken the liberty to "spicing up" her school uniform, mostly at the request of her mother and to keep up her "cool and spicy" outlook. Amu's outfit consists of the requirements for Seiyo Elementary: a short, black-and-red pleated skirt, with a plaid design; the main colour is red, while the plaid itself is black. Her torso is clad in a white dress shirt, worn untucked over her skirt and with the topmost button undone in a sort of messy manner. She also wears the customary red tie, also worn loosely to fit with her "style".

To top everything off, Amu wears a plain black dress jacket with long sleeves. On the left sleeve, Amu has a red armband loosely pinned; around her waist and situated over her dress shirt is a black belt, also worn very loosely.Her feet, rather than wearing high white socks and black shoes, sport short white socks hidden underneath red-and-black plaid legwarmers, made perfectly to match her skirt, complete with a pair of black loafers according to dress code.

Casual Wear
Amu's casual outfits vary greatly, though they all fit around one central theme. Amu's style is a sort of gothic-punk style; dark colours, skulls, short skirts and thigh-high socks, and other similar styles. Amu's hairstyle also vary, but it isn't uncommon to see her with at least one pin in her hair. The most common are red plus-shaped pins, though at times she will be seen with black plus-shaped pins. During her Character Changes, Amu's pins will change depending on the character she changes with; when changing with Ran, the pins will become red hearts; with Miki, they will become blue spades; and with Suu, they will become green clovers.

Ran
Ran's outfit is considerably simple. She is often clad in a cheerleading outfit, consisting of a light pink dress with matching pink shorts underneath. The dress itself highly resembles a tennis dress, with a pleated skirt and no sleeves. The edge of the skirt has a medium pink line along it. To match the skirt, Ran wears a pair of socks that reach up to her mid-shin or so; they are a light pink in colour with a medium pink line along the top. For footwear, Ran's feet are clad in pink-and-white running shoes. Around her neck is a medium pink bandanna. Ran also wears a visor on her head, with the brim of the visor worn towards her right side. Finally, a red heart pin accentuates the left side of her head. Ran is almost always never seen without her pink pom-poms, either.

Miki
Miki's outfit consists of a white dress shirt and vest on her upper torso; her lower extremeties are clad in a pair of denim blue shorts, with the ends folded upwards stylishly. For footwear, Miki wears a pair of black boots with white laces tied in a stylish bow. Lastly, most of her hair is hidden underneath an artist's beret, with only her bangs showing; Miki also wears a blue spade pin on the left side of her head. Over her shoulder is a light blue shoulder bag, made of the same colour as her beret.

Suu
Suu's outfit resembles that of a maid, consisting of a light green apron worn over a forest green maid's dress, with puffy, short sleeves. She also wears a matching light green maid's collar. On her head is a maid's had, in the same shade of light green as her apron and collar, with her green spade pin located on the left side of her head. Her feet are clad in a pair of forest green flats that lace up to about her knee or so.

Character Transformations
Amu has multiple Character Transformations that she is able to undergo due to the powers of the Humpty Lock. She is currently able to perform Character Transformations with Ran, Miki, and Suu. In each of her transformations, the Humpty Lock is worn around her neck, attached to the upper portion of each of her outfits. Depending on which transformation Amu is in, the Humpty Lock will glow either pink, blue, or green.

Amulet Heart [Ran]
Amulet Heart is Amu's primary character transformation, therefore giving it the most "attributes". As Amulet Heart, Amu is clad in a cheerleader's outfit, consisting of a short, light pink pleated skirt with a medium pink stripe just near the edge of the skirt, complete with a pair of shorts underneath for modesty. The skirt reaches to about Amu's mid-thigh or so. Attached to the skirt near the waist on Amu's left hip is a ribbon tied in a bow. Amu's upper torso is clad in a sleeveless shirt that reaches to just above her ribs, the same light pink shade as her skirt, with frills along the bottom. Either of her arms have small armbands around her mid-bicep area, with a medium to light pink frill along the bottom of them. Around Amu's neck is another, longer ribbon that matches the one tied on her hip. On her head, Amu wears a visor with a clear brim, worn towards her right side with her hair tied up in a side ponytail on the left side of her head. There is also a large red heart pin on the left side of her head. For footwear, Amu is clad in a pair of legwarmers in a similar style to that of her school uniform; however, they are pink in colour rather than with a red tartan pattern. Finally, Amu wears a pair of sneakers on her feet.

Amulet Spade [Miki]
As Amulet Spade, Amu takes on Miki's sophisticated personality, of which her clothing reflects. She is dressed in a very stylish manner, with her hair back under a beret, with only her bangs peeking out. On the side of the beret is a blue spade, the same as on Miki's beret as well. She is dressed in a light blue vest-like garment, with stylish frills down the front and short tails like that of a tailcoat on the front and back, reaching to about the start of her thigh or so. Her arms are clad in long, light blue sleeves that start at about her mid-bicep and extend into frilled, flowing sleeves, the sleeves themselves being much wider at the wrist than at the bicep. Her legs are clad in a pair of short, denim-blue shorts, accented by her light-and-denim blue striped stockings. The shorts themselves reach to about a quarter down her thigh, while the stockings reach up to about an inch below the bottom of the shorts. Her feet are clad in brown high-topped boots. The final piece to Amu's outfit is the large bow in the back, which flows out in a frilled tail-like style on either side.

Amulet Clover [Suu]
Akin to the fact that Suu is highly skilled at domestic things, it isn't a surprise to see that Amulet Clover's outfit is akin to that of a maid. As Amulet Clover, Amu is dressed in a knee-length dress in a shade of grassy forest green, with puff bolero sleeves and a puff skirt that resembles an apple. Over that, Amu wears a very light green apron, with frilled edges and a small bow on the front of either hip. Underneath the dress, Amu also wears another, much lighter-coloured dress, though this one is akin to that of an undergarment rather than an actual dress. Her legs are clad in green tights, the same colour as her apron, with her feet sporting green ballet shoes in the same shade as her dress. Amu's hair is held back in ponytails on either side of her head, accented by her double-coloured maid's hairband, as well as a green clover on the left side of her head. On her hands, Amu wears a pair of light green gloves.

Personality:

Amu herself is a very complicated sort of girl. Living with a personality made out to be different than what she is really like, Amu is considered conflicted with herself, unable to understand who she really is. Her "outer character" is depicted as "cool", but in reality, Amu is a shy, somewhat timid girl. Things like not knowing what to say make her look cool, while in reality, she's just saying whatever comes to mind. This personality has been molded and formed to literally become an outside part of Amu; in order to keep up this popularity-gaining personality, Amu will always contemplate her actions thoroughly, deciding whether it's in her character or not to do such a thing.

In reality, though, Amu is overly shy. She doesn't know how to talk to people all too well, and will often force words out of her mouth to appear conversational. Unable to handle social situations very well, Amu will often brush people away, coming off as slightly abrasive and blunt, and possibly a bit unfeeling. This, however, is the complete opposite of what Amu is trying to do; her actions are mostly based off of reaction and nervousness, giving her no time to think about what it is that she is going to do in such reactionary-based situations. Amu is often quiet simply because she doesn't know what to say; this, however, is often interpreted as her being a lone wolf, working on her own and at her own pace, as she is often casually blunt and dismissive of most people.

Despite how people make her out to be, Amu is a very normal girl. Amu wishes for nothing more than to be accepted for who she is, and to find out her true self. As a result, she is often very stubborn, and while it might be attributed more or less to her outer personality, this itself is a part of the real person that Amu is. Because Amu does not have very good social skills as who she truly is, she has taken on her "cool and spicy" personality as a way to communicate with others.

Although she may be timid, Amu is a very responsible girl, mostly in the case of her younger sister, Ami. While it's not hard to get irritated by Ami's behaviour, Amu has put on a very "big sister" sort of look on just for Ami. Though it's no surprise that Ami's first word was "big sis" (neechan), the event of her sister first speaking was a deeply touching moment for Amu. Therefore, Amu shows a deep care for her younger sister, because she knows all too well that the little toddler has a knack for getting herself in trouble; she always wants what is best for her sibling.

In spite of the fact that most of Amu's "friends" are only attracted to her outer persona, Amu is a person who cares deeply for those close to her; she is willing to do anything for a friend, no matter the cost. She strives to help those around her in any manner possible, especially if it will make them happy; this is one of the reasons which Amu chose to join the Guardians, because performing her duties as the Joker meant that she would be able to help others no matter the cost.

Amu herself is a very convincing and philosophical young girl, despite her age. Amu believes strongly in dreams and wishes, partially because of Ran, Miki, and Suu. She is very encouraging of others to follow their dreams, and highly emphasizes the belief that if you put your mind to it, you can do almost anything.

Despite the strong face Amu puts on, there is one thing which she is afraid of: ghost stories, or particularly, any sort of scary story. While she tries her best to obstinately hide that fact, she is easily spooked when her imagination starts to go wild, causing her to jump at the slightest of sounds. She is especially creeped out by graveyards, having a tendency to look around warily and move as quickly as possible through them, lest her imagination run rampant and her to believe she's seeing things.

Ran
Ran is the most commonly seen of Amu's Guardian Characters. She is a very energetic character, reminiscient of that of a cheerleader. She is often seen cheering on the other Guardian Characters as they do work, hardly performing any work herself; however, there is the occasional time where she will participate and strive to do her best. Ran represents Amu's desire to be more honest about herself. When Amu performs a Charachange or a Charanari with Ran, she becomes very honest and confident, often blurting out thing she wouldn't normally say against her will. Ran's specialty is athletics, with the ability to give Amu a much higher athletic ability than one might have thought possible. Ran enjoys cheering other people on, and hates sitting still.

Miki
Miki is the level head of Amu's three Guardian Characters, portraying the calm, collected, yet kind part of Amu's would-be self. She is a very sharp character, able to sense X-Eggs much more clearly than Ran or Suu. She represents Amu's desire to be level-headed and sharp. Miki is very artistic and fashionable, loving arts and crafts and hating anything that offends her artistic sense. She is also considerably tomboyish. When performing a Charachange or Charanari with Miki, Amu's artistic and painting abilities drastically increase.

Suu
Suu is arguably the most girlish of Amu's three Guardian Characters. Caring and sensitive, Suu is like a motherly part to Amu's personality, often caring for the welfare of others. Suu is also very optimistic, trying to look on the bright side of every situation as much as is possible. Despite this, Suu is also very clumsy, forgetting to think things through and often coming close to causing catastrophic situations. Suu loves cleaning and cooking, and has a distinct dislike for caterpillars. When performing a Charachange or Charanari with Suu, Amu's domestic skills [i.e. cleaning, cooking] are increased..

History:

From the beginning of her life, Amu was known as a quiet young girl, hardly ever speaking to others because of her shy, reserved personality. At first, she was an only child, held in high esteem by her parents and constantly coddled by them. This was, of course, until her younger sister, Ami, was born. From that point on - Amu still being a young child at the time - Amu was almost completely disregarded, no longer coddled like she had been because her sister was essentially stealing all the attention.

Despite this, Amu took on the role of a role-model for her sister, always cleaning up whenever Ami made a mess, and making sure that Ami was all right in every situation. She would always give in to whenever Ami wanted to play. At first, Amu was just doing what she thought was right; she was supposed to be the older sibling, and therefore show responsiblity and receive almost nothing in return, right? The first part may have been true, but in Amu's case, the second one was not so true. On the day which Ami spoke her first word, Amu was hit with a shocking discovery: unlike most children, Ami's first word was "oneechan" or "big sis", which to Amu was a shock. Most children's first words had something to do with their parents, and Amu felt so honored to hear that her sister looked up to her in such a way.

Elementary school for Amu, however, was nothing but trouble. Although in her first and second grades she did just fine, once third grade came along, things really changed. Amu was unable to make friends very well, as she'd just switched schools in the third grade; because of her shy personality, she really wasn't able to talk to other people, and would say whatever would come to mind. This gave her a sort of cool, lone wolf appearance to most others, causing them to avoid her.

Because of her inability to gain any friends, Amu switched schools by the time fourth grade rolled around, but it was only the same instance again. At first, she'd thought things would be all right, but it turned out to be the opposite; she spent almost the entire summer alone, either visiting family or just sitting in her room, wishing she had someone to talk to. As a result, Amu was a very lonely child, only having her little sister, Ami, as something to console her whenever she needed it. Becoming tired of dealing with it during her fourth grade year, Amu once again switched schools, moving to Seiyo Academy in hopes of truly making new friends and experiencing new things.

It was the first fateful day of school... Or rather, at a new school, with new experiences, new people, new everything. While to some Amu might have appeared to be calm, cool, and collected, acting as the lone wolf that she was, in all actuality... Amu was horridly frightened. She hated these sorts of things, and she wondered, would people be the same way here as they had at their old school? She'd never really had friends... People had generally avoided her, simply because of how she "acted". She wasn't acting; she was simply following instinct and what she thought she should do in a situation... And therefore, she'd never had a true friend. Acquaintances, yes. Fans, yes, in a roundabout way. But never a true, close friend she could confide in whenever.

Life sure did like to squeeze lemon juice in people's eyes, didn't it?

Silently Amu walked down the sidewalk towards her new school, Seiyo Elementary. It was gladly within walking distance of her home, which meant a short commute and no need to be driven or to take the bus, but with nobody to walk with, the way was silent and boring. Amu actually felt kind of lonely... People walked nearby, chatting with friends, while Amu herself was just quiet, with nothing to say. She didn't know how to approach people. She didn't know how to make friends. She was just too shy; social interactions made her jittery, nervous, frightened even. Of course, she didn't let such feelings register, but even so...

Amu's thoughts were soon interrupted by some commotion ahead of her. Two kids, bullying a younger kid for something... And they were completely blocking her path, too. Well, this surely wouldn't do... Here went with her attempt to be herself, if that was even possible.

"You're blocking the sidewalk," the rosette stated, her school bag held by the short handle over her shoulder, with her other hand on her hip. Her tone was considerably blunt, as was the look on her face; her attire only added to what she appeared to "be". She was wearing, of course, her school uniform; a short, black-and-red pleated skirt, with a plaid design; the main colour was the red, while the plaid itself was black. She also wore a white dress shirt with a red tie, the same shade of her skirt, and to top it all off, a red tie. While most people wore their uniforms prudently, however, Amu had made a few small modifications to the uniform [at her mother's request]; she had a red armband loosely pinned around the left sleeve of the black jacket, with a black belt loosely around her waist, situated over her white dress shirt. The shirt was pulled out from her skirt rather than tucked in, giving her sort of a rebellious outlook. Her feet, rather than wearing high white socks and black shoes, sported short white socks hidden underneath red-and-black plaid legwarmers, made perfectly to match her skirt, complete with a pair of black loafers according to dress code. Internally, Amu sighed. She really didn't want this to happen again... If only she could just be someone else. Someone other than this fake self that people made her out to be... She still remembered Saeki Nobuko's words about Guardian Spirits... Maybe she had one, too? And maybe it could help her?

"Oh, s-sorry!" The two boys said hurriedly, and ran off, leaving the kid they'd been bullying behind. He gave her those shining puppy eyes, admiring her... Oh, what had she done now?! She hadn't even reached the school yet, and she already had a fan?! Flailing mentally, Amu hardly heard the boy's words, but it wasn't hard to grasp what he was asking. He wanted an autograph. Her autograph. It's starting all over again... People making me into something I'm not... Was this just going to be a repeat of her last elementary school? Was she just going to be alone all over again?

"Are you stupid?" She asked, her tone a cool query. "You were blocking the sidewalk, too." She had nothing else to say as she walked on, continuing her journey onward towards the school. She really didn't want to go now... The whispers would only be worse. A wave of sadness and loneliness overcame Amu, though it didn't register on her face as much as it did in her mind. She hated being lonely... Sure, she had her ecstatic, energetic little sister, but what good would a sister do when she couldn't even talk to anyone during school?

It was just the same ordeal over again... Just as Amu had expected... But would it stay that way?
