SHADOWFALL WEYR

Lilly sighed as she walked through the halls with her golden wher, Lillysk. It seemed as though the two of them didn't really have much to do now that things were settling down. Lillysk's bored no? Lillysk looked up at her rider, and gently nudged the woman's elbow. Yes Lillysk, but that's ok. At least everything is going back to normal around here. She gently scratched the large wher's eye ridges, and smiled when the gold started to purr. Things really were calming down around here. Oh what she wouldn't give for some excitement.

Lilly and her wher Lillysk, where on their way to the kitchens for their midnight meal, as usual. Lillysk wants to swim. The gold wher looked up at her handler as she spoke. It had been some time since the two of them had gone swimming just for fun. Lilly smiled and shook her head. Food first Lillysk. Her voice was stern, yet, soft, and loving as she spoke to her wher. She loved her gold, and wouldn't trade her for all of Pern. After food? The one thing Lillysk really talked about was food, and swimming. Lilly shook her head and sighed. Alright, after we eat. She just couldn't say no. Never has been able to really.

Well if Lilly wanted something exciting, she was about to get it. Trotting happily along the Weyr, the Sirius Flyer explored the caverns, almost oblivious to the stir her presence caused among the folk still awake. Few of the weyrfolk had yet to see one of her kind, though they were much talked about, and the Flyer was not frightened to flaunt what she was. After all, why shouldn't she flaunt her species? She was their queen after all. And currently, the only queen among them. Which suited her just fine.

Holding her head proudly, her tail straightened out behind her as she came sniffing around the wher holes, finding that yes, the new smell rather amused her and as there was generally more shuffling noises down there, she'd venture forth. She was always interested in creatures that were nocturnal like her, granted her favorite time of day was sunset and when she woke up, and what she garnered her name from. Sunset. Though, ever since hearing a tail one of the two-legged things spun off about their old world, and person named 'Akussa' whose name apparently meant Sunset, Sunset had decided to take on that name. And now, still Sunset yet in a different way, she was named Akussa.

Giving a low bark of a chuckle to herself, the Flyer proceeded down into the wher hole, ears forward and wings curled tightly against her back. She explored the caverns for a while, catching sight of gleaming hides turning past corners, until the two moons of Pern were high in the sky and she decided that, for the moment, the weird looking creatures she had spied with some two-legs could wait. And yes, after thorough investigation she had found they were exactly like the ones in the wild, which made her wary. Though they seemed well behaved with the two-legged ones, she was still wary. They came after her pups. Akussa did not approve.

As she approached the wher hole's exit, a golden gleam caught her eye and she quickly hid in the shadow watching as the girl and the wher came closer. A golden one. Golden ones were the most annoying of all. They were the queen of their species, and Akussa had already had the bitter pleasure of having a territorial battle over her own den. A den that the wher wanted to lay her eggs in. Akussa would have none of it.

It took her a moment to decide whether to show herself or not, wavering where usually she would make snap like decisions, and after her hesitation dissipated, Akussa crawled forward on her belly, not in submission or cowardice, but in caution her eyes locked on those of the wher's before she peered into those of the girl's and froze, tilting her head curiously though her body conveyed her caution, and stiff pride.

Lilly rolled her eyes at her stubborn wher. Sometimes there was just no pleasing the young queen. Lillysk paused mid-step and tentatively sniffed the air. What is it Lillysk? She didn't have to wait very long for an answer. Soon after she asked her question she noticed something crawling out of the shadows. Lillysk lowered her head, and sniffed at the little creature and snorted. Lillysk's Lilly no want to eat? The golden wher looked back up at her handler as she spoke. this little creature was of no interest to her at the moment. She wanted to eat quickly so that they could go swimming. Then she would deal with the skulking creature.

Don't worry Lillysk, we'll get food in a moment. Lilly knelt down and turned her attention to the Sirius Flyer. What are you doing down here little one? She didn't know much about these creatures, but she was a curious person, and whenever confronted by something new, she had to investigate. Lillysk snorted again, and sat down. She didn't want to deal with this insignificant creature right now, but had no choice but to wait for her handler. She would give her a couple minutes, and then do her best to get her moving. So they could eat, and then go swimming like she had promised.
