"It's no wonder we're scared of snakes. Each year, they'll kill an average of 30,000 people. But some snakes are more dangerous than others. We're counting down the top 10 most extreme snakes on the planet. They all have the power to stop us in our tracks. Discover what it takes to become the world's deadliest reptile when snakes are taken to the most extreme!"-Narrator
The Most Extreme used to be one of my favorite shows, although it doesn't air as much anymore, I don't think. Or maybe it does and I just don't pay attention. Anyway, this is one of my favorite episodes, the show's picks of the deadliest snakes on the planet. And no, for those who have not seen this show, it's not at all "anti-animal". http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4JQdXyo5G04 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ytMArxJHluI&feature=related http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VeIpHb2w_XM&feature=related http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XDSq14E5PK8&feature=related http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2lJHvFhkp54&feature=related The one thing I find the most interesting is the conclusion of this episode, where they say that the number 1 deadliest snake actually saves more human lives than it takes. Puts things into perspective, don't you think? |

Looks like snakes are far more dangerous to humans then sharks or lightning.
Or lightning sharks. |

I believe the only time you'd have to worry about snakes is if you accidentally, or purposely, make it feel threatened. In most cases, if you leave them alone, they will leave you alone. Very rarely does a snake kill humans for food, and the only snakes that would do this is are giant constrictors.
Here's something I found on the odds of being killed by lightning, snakes, and dogs. Odds of being killed by a dog: 700,000 to 1 Odds of being killed by lightning: 2.8 million to 1 Odds of being killed by a snake: 56 million to 1 So yeah, although many people are terrified of snakes, you have many more chances of being killed by man's best friend or from a bolt of lightning than any snake. |
