Soaring Eagles Magical Academy (mainly referred to as 'SEMA' by staff and pupils) is a boarding school for young witches and wizards from all across Northern America. SEMA's primary goals are to teach these youths of their gifts for the better, though there are always those who stray from the pack. Set up many years ago, the school still brings it more and more students every year, and each year is more eventful than the last.

These are the rules for Soaring Eagles, which apply to everyone. Please make sure that you read them, although we're not very strict, we would prefer you to know what's what. Here is a list of the content of the rules and below it are the rules themselves. Enjoy.
1. Out of Character a. Swearing b. Respect other members c. Questions d. Canon relations e. Contacted by staff f. Chat speak g. Cbox
2. In Character a. Stick to your personality b. Swearing c. God-modding d. Minimum post e. Punctuation f. Spelling g. Mature threads
3. Applications a. Completion b. Model claims c. Detail d. PM e. Talents / Abilities f. Character Limits
4. Graphics a. Shops b. Avatars c. Signatures1. Out of Character a. Swearing Out of Character, we don't permit swearing if it's directed toward someone in an offensive way. You don't really need to swear Out of Character anyway. It seems pretty pointless. And if somebody was swearing at you, you wouldn't like it either, so don't swear at anyone unless you're using it in a joking-type way. Although still try not to use anything too offensive, because an Admin would simply edit any OOC posts anyhow and send you a warning.
b. Respect Other Members This sort of links with the above item. Don't start getting into arguments with other members. If there's something you don't agree on, just try sorting it out without swearing or calling others names. If there's something they've said which you don't agree with, simply tell them and talk it out, or even just ask an Admin to sort it out.
c. Questions If you have any questions about the forum or about roleplaying, feel free to post in our Frequently Asked Questions forum. An Admin will see to your question as soon as they have the time to do so, so feel free to ask any questions you like. If you feel that you need to speak directly to an Administrator and don't want others to see your question, you can also PM Sean or Anya and they will reply to you with the answer. Also, guests can ask questions in the FAQ forum without having to register, incase they have questions about the forum they want answers to before they join the forum.
d. Canon relations Feel free to make a character who is related to a Canon, because no doubt that somewhere in the world there would be a Canon-relation who wanted to go to college. All you need to remember is make sure that you don't make some strange marriage or personality such as Malfoy marrying Neville who then adopt a son or something. Or a son of Neville and Luna who is a completely evil person who everybody hates. Because Neville and Luna aren't like that, so they wouldn't make their child that way, either.
e. Contact by Staff If you are contacted by a member of staff, make sure that you reply to them. If a staff member every sends you anything, it would be important. So be sure that you reply to a member of staff, because if you send messages to them, they would reply to you, so make sure that you reply to them.
f. Chat-speak Just don't use it. Things such as "lol" or "lmao" are allowed, yes, but don't use sentences such as "u shud hav seen ur face" or "how r u 2day?" It's just wrong and looks icky. You don't use it in roleplays and so you shouldn't use it out of character, either. Besides, when you speak in chatspeak, not everyone can always understand. God, even I can't sometimes. It just confuses me.
g. Cbox Don't argue, don't spam, don't advertise. No one like arguing in the Cbox, because that really is just spam, which no one likes either. An admin will just delete the messages anyway if an argument, spamming or advertising goes off. So really your attempts at doing any three of these things would be thwarted by Anya or Sean. Because we rock like that.2. In Character a. Stick to Your Personality When you write a personality for your character, make sure that you stick to that personality. Someone in Atra would be a wizard who is interested in the Dark Arts. Someone wouldn't be sorted into Atra if they liked hanging around with all of the other houses. Remember that once you choose your personality, you need to stick to it. Don't go changing someone's personality mid-roleplay, because it wouldn't happen.
b. Swearing Swearing whilst In Character is allowed, because everyone swears from time to time. Of course, no one would swear in every sentence. Nobody does. Students don't swear at professors, so don't. Professors wouldn't swear at students, so don't. But when it's between friends, they usually do swear. So I'm not banning it, but everyone knows how to moderate swearing, so don't have your character swearing every other word.
c. God-modding Nobody likes God-modding. It's simply where you make a post where you control the other roleplayer's character. It isn't allowed, so don't do it unless you have consent from the other roleplayer. In other words, make sure you get permission before doing something. If your character was in a duel, when they cast a spell, simply say that it flew out of the end of the wand, don't say that it hit the other roleplayer square in the chest, injuring them. That would be a case of God-modding. The other character may have a spell firing toward them, but they may cast a protective charm before they get him, so it wouldn't hurt them. Of course, nobody dodges all spells, so eventually somebody would get hit. It would be up to the roleplayer if the spell hit their character, so just cast spells, don't say they hit a character who isn't your own. If there is a background character in your post, such as a waiter in a restaurant, then you can control him, if it is not another roleplayer with an account for that waiter.
d. Minimum Post Now, no one likes one-line posts, and everyone can do better. If you can't think of anythingelse to post, just have your character do something that you can expand on. Ask the other character a few questions or something. We'd prefer your posts to be a minimum of two paragraphs. That doesn't mean one line and then a space, then another line. That wouldn't suffice, really. Make sure you do your best when you post, because if you make a bad post, the person after you will only have enough information to do the same. When you start a new thread anywhere, make sure you describe what your character is thinking or what they can see, smell, taste, hear, feel. If you do these, you could easily get more than the minimum post length.
e. Punctuation If you want people to reply to your posts, you have to make sure that you can understand them. Paragraphs, commas, full stops, all puncuation should be used. That way people will be able to read what you've said. End questions with question marks, make sure you note that your character is speaking by using speech marks at the start and the end of the speech.
f. Spelling When you're making a post, if you're not sure how something's spelt, just use another word or use a spell-checker. Even Google can help you. But again, if you want people to understand what you're saying, either use a spell-checker on something such as Microsoft Word or use Google for words you know would be wrong.
g. Mature Threads Mature threads are allowed, permitting that you have noted somewhere that the thread will become mature, whether you say so in the post before if happens or in the topic description. Of course, students and professors? Not likely. So that wouldn't be allowed unless it was some kind of plot. Although there would only be one plot where that would happen, and if everyone did it, it'd just seem as though no one had any imagination when it came to making up plots. Also, unless you have cleared it with an administrator, there will be no teenage pregnancies.3. Applications a. Completion As soon as you post your application, you will then have five days to finish it, if it isn't completed. If you miss out one of the areas, then you will need to fill it in, unless it is something such as 'Items' where your character doesn't really have anything special, or a pet if your character doesn't have one. If you simply put - or N/a in these areas, then that will be fine. But after five days, unless you have told a member of staff that you will be away, then your application will be moved into the Incomplete Applications Archive. If you come back and say that you would like to continue with your application but you could before because of a certain issue, then an Admin will gladly move it back into the Applications forum for you and you may complete it.
b. Model Claims No one in the world looks exactly like someone else. Unless, of course, they are identical twins. But if they aren't and they aren't even related, then don't use the same portrayal as somebody else. As soon as you are accepted, go and claim your celebrity, but only after you have been accepted. Before you are accepted, you may reserve a portrayal, which will last three days for you. After those three days, someone else will be allowed to use the portrayal, if they wish to do so. But make sure that once you are accepted, you claim your celebrity. Of course, if somebody else posts an application with the portrayal you have, they could register the portrayal and you would have to change because your name wouldn't be on the list. So make sure that even if you use the same celebrity as your identical twin who has already claimed that you claim.
c. Detail Make sure that you add enough detail to your posts. In their personality, explain what they are usually like toward people with these personalities, don't just put "John is funny, angry sometimes and a good friend". Use those ideas and expand on them. Explain the character's history and personality in good detail. You don't really need detail for something such as the wand, unless you'd like to. I'd settle for wood, core and length, really and I'd accept you.
d. PM If an Admin messages you regarding your application, it's best if you read what we have to say. If you don't, then we won't accept your application. Just reply to the Personal Message once you've changed whatever needed changing and we'll take a second look.
e. Talents / Abilities For Talents and Abilities (found on this list), I would prefer a maximum of three. You don't have to have any at all, if you don't want to, but you are allowed three at most. Now, three could actually be a little radical, so I would prefer two for students and three for adults. You can have a variation of how many of each one you have, though overall you can have two or three.
f. Character Limits There are no limits. Seriously. If there were then me and Anya would just have to edit the rules every once in a while because we always end up with quite a few characters. So feel free to make as many characters as you like. Just make sure that you don't have so many that you can't keep up with the posts, because then you'd have celebrities claimed that you don't use, yet someone else may want to use.4. Graphics a. Shops Graphics shops may be opened by anyone who wishes to do so. If you have the time to roleplay and make graphics, feel free, but make sure you don't just register so that you can make graphics, see other people's graphics and say they're bad. I've seen it happen. Somebody registered on one of my old forums, started a graphics shop, said that another member's shop had poor images in and told everyone they should ask for signatures in his own shop (I banned him eventually. Not because of the signatures. He was God-modding, swearing out of character, wasn't roleplaying anything more than two lines per post and acted as though his own character was the best there ever was. Don't be like him. :]).
b. Avatars This isn't really a rule, but more of a notice. Any avatars you submit which are bigger than 150 (width) by 200 (height) will be shrunken down. So it wouldn't matter if you use a huge image, but if you did it would be shrunk and it would most-likely lose quality. So having a 100 x 100 icon or a 150 x 200 avatar for you would mean that you could still have the quality.
c. Signatures The images in your signature must be of your character. Don't go having random images in such as a cat or a cake or a fish. People want to know what your character looks like, not what a cat you think looks cute looks like (even if we all do love cats). If you haven't got a signature, you can use icons of your celebrity, though make sure you don't have any more than 10, otherwise the forum will stretch and your signature will simply look too busy. Make sure, also, that you don't just put in any overly-large images which will stretch the forum. No one wants to have to scroll side-ways to see the end of someone's sentence.
