((Remember Thyla and Savitr are fully open happy.gif But I'll be shooing Sarafina/Anala out for now))

Savitr enjoying the compliments but still a bit aloof

Savitr grinned. The 2nd person to compliment him tonight...perhaps these people would be tolerable if they recognized his abilities and perks.
"Well thank you" He said vainly. "And yes. Yes I am"
Thyla was just glad he said thank you....

"And you have a handsome air as well!" Thyla said right before a VERY rambunctious ice appeared and practically attacked the table. Savitr suddenly hissed defensively. Thyla quickly reassured him...or at least tried to
"It's ok she's just excited-"

"She's obviously a mental case!" Savitr hissed recoiling. His yellow eyes looking almost afraid...which Thyla had to chuckle at slightly. He reminded her of a very displeased cat.

"Don't mind him" Thyla said to Talula and Jay "Though I wouldn't get too close without his permission. I think he and I will get along alright" Thyla explained.
Savitr looked at her. Of course they would get along! It was she and she alone who had been meant for him. It still greatly annoyed him that she had any doubt. Why would she EVER have doubt? It made him growl.
Thyla also hoped nobody brought up the unpleasantness with his mother....something told Thyla that may set him off into an even more unpleasant way. She looked at the door and saw even more wyrmlings arriving. The hatching must be almost over! She was eager to see what Azazel and Keiro got..and SURELY Striker had bonded and been let free! She even noticed Brennick with an Earth! She KNEW he could bond! That made her smile. She still didn't see Luca yet but hopefully he'd arrive soon she was eager to have Savitr meet him and his gravity.
Thyla felt a twitch of hunger come from Savitr so she promptly tossed him a piece of meat which he eagerly devoured

"See? You're learning" He said in his patronizing fashion "Well, who else must I suffer for?" He still kept his eyes on the air and ice hatchlings before him. He had to admit the ice was lovely but her hyperness could kill him...

Sarafina and Anala with Leeran

Anala closed her eyes with a sigh
"You know I'd do anything for you Leeran. I love you. But I must do whatever necessary to keep Sarafina safe....just as your own hatchling will do...but he MUST learn how to know a real threat. For I cannot and will not allow Sarafina near any creature that would harm her"

Sarafina hugged her dragon's snout.
"Thank you"

Anala sighed again. This time with an exasperated look
"Also Leeran....soon you will be very busy with training. We will visit when we can but yes I suggest you have some lesson time with that water of yours"
Anala had been hoping he bonded to much more noble dragon....and handsome but Parachanna was still young he may mature very well, but even then she may not have any interest in him. Which annoyed and saddened her.

"Come along Sarafina....We must leave Leeran to meet the other Wyrmlings. I'm sure Luca and Thyla shall help him along" She said with a wink. Although she still seemed very sad inside. Sarafina could easily detect it...She looked at Leeran longingly

"Yeah...I guess we do have to go....Try to send word to me whenever you can" She gave him another long kiss and a stroke to his face before climbing onto Anala's head and the fire headed out. Both dragon and rider seemed to have a dark cloud of sadness enveloping them...

Talula talking to Thyla and Jay, Elysium practically throwing herself at Shi, then complementing Savitr

Elysium nearly fell over herself as the little air approved her approach. When he extended his neck she leaned forward, perched awkwardly on her toes in curious glee, snuffling at his fur. At first she just rubbed her nose into it, then her pupils dilated to consume her entire eye. It was the most amazing thing she had ever felt. She stepped forward and buried her face right into Shi's neck fluff. However this too proved to be not enough soft. She pranced forward and ran her whole chilly length along the smaller air. “Waaaaaaaaaaannnnnn Shiiiii Toooonnnngggg” She tried out his name in her mouth as she did this. A deep thrum started in her chest and rumbled happily out as she doubled back, rubbing all the way along his other side. Her whole gesture was like a house cat, pressing her smooth sides up against his fluffy ones, though this cat was more like a tiger to a child. The sensation of all that fluff on her sides was amazing. She kept contact as long as she could until her tail tip broke contact and she flung herself at Talula in utter glee.

“He was soooo soft! Like the softest thing ever! Like ever and ever~ Even softer then daddy's feathers! How did he get to be so soft! I don't even know~” She choked up and looked back at him beaming, “Thank you soooooo much~ You are the most perfectest air~” She cooed sweet as a dove to Shi, praising his fluffy baby plumage.

However her attention turned as she noticed Savitr glancing her way. Her short burst turned in his directions, “WOW! Look at those horns! You got some beautiful horns on you! I wish my horns were that big! I mean I haven't seen mine yet, but I bet they are aren’t that impressive!” This prompted her turn her head to try to get a look. She turned her head a few times but couldn't quite see. This prompted her to dance sideways, thankfully away from shi again this did not help. So she turned several circles trying to get a good look in her mirrory surface. This prompted another fit of adorable giggles until she realized she could extend her wing and solve the problem. This she did and she stared at her own reflection tilting her head this way and that. “Oh look they are smaller! Wow I am shiney!” Her eyes tried to follow the glimmering surface until she realized she had been talking to someone. “Hay hay mister!” She called back to Savitr.

“Come join the fun! It's better up here. Come up! Come up!” She dropped her shiny rump down so she could pat the table with both hands cutely.

Talula nearly doubled over giggling at her tiny dragon, “I am sorry. I am not used to this level of adorable yet.” She excused herself and waved a hand to both of them. She watched Thyla's dragon in awe. He was handsome, despite his rather snarky temperament. Yet none of that seemed to matter to Elysium. She was far too content to make friends with everyone in the room. She was also more then happy to complement everyone in the room so that didn't hurt her case.

“Pleasure is mine both of you. It's good to finally meet some candidates. I was just so worried about not knowing enough, and being a bad partner you know. I got a little caught up and anti-social. I am glad Shi tong is fine, its so lucky rosemarys are so good at healing really. It would be aweful if we did not have good healers for everyone. I can't even imagine” She beamed at him almost as brightly as her dragon. Her short strawberry blond hair slipped into her eyes as if it was striving for freedom though nothing had seemed to move it. Talula was used to this annoyance, it came from cutting her hair to hardly her jaw line.

Elysium swirled on the spot, her body spinning around so fast she scrambled to retain her balance when she came to a jerking stop, “Are you kidding! You are like the best! I mean the bestie-estie-estest partner ever! We are going to do everything together! Everything!!!!”

Talula grinned bashfully at the ice, “Aw thank you Ely.” She grabbed a strip of beef which she tossed to her, as she had seen Thyla do to Savitr.

Ely deftly caught it and snapped it down happily. Her tail lashed across the table in excitement at the flavor of the meat. How wonderful! A new taste for everything that went in her mouth! She would have to taste more things! Her hunger now being realized she opened her mouth wide, like a begging bird, which prompted another laugh from Talula. The hunger stretched through the bond to further convey the message. Her bonded understood though and tossed her another strip and then a few grapes before Ely was distracted by something else and lost interest in the game.

Talula grinned after her new soul mate before turning her attention back to the pair of humans at the table. Her eyes hovered on Jay for a moment then redirected to Thyla and she smiled. “Congratulations on bonding to you both!” She tossed a grape into her own mouth and chewed it contently. She hadn't realized what an appetite worrying worked up.

Liian & Rat Moving off to hang out with Almirsael and Deles, keeping an eye on Telluria and Marcyl

Liian leaned into Almirsael's nuzzle fondly, his chest erupting in deep, cat-like rumbles of joy. "'Ello," he said in an almost bubbly fashion, "Sorry I buggered off so soon.... I was rather caught up in the moment." He grinned at his copper mate and twisted his snout around to drape over her neck in a draconic embrace. "You did a wonderful job, mom," he added with a chortle, his mutl-colored eyes moving to look upon Telluria again.

Accepting Deles' embrace, though he did not return it, Rat was content to merely stand in such close proximity. His had eyes darted to those nearby out of habit, checking to see if anyone had seen their public display of affection and whether or not it had garnered a response. Rat had nothing to fear with hatchlings in the room, so his body relaxed. It had taken a long time for Rat to grow used to such things, for anyone to even touch him without being given permission, but he cared for Deles more than anything in the world, excepting Liian, so the copper-rider was given some exceptions. He turned his steel gray eyes toward his partner's newborn daughter once more and regarded her thoughtfully. "She's got quite the attitude," he said to Deles, a larger grin plastering itself across his face.

Liian moved shifted toward the two humans when Almirsael moved forward to nudge their daughter's new rider on the shoulder, turning his attention upon Rat and Deles instead. He shuffled his wings, markings glowing brightly for a moment, at the compliment Deles offered and then settled into a lounging position upon the cool stone floor. "Isn't she just?" he agreed with a giddy whine to his voice. "I can't wait to see her grow," he added.

"Well, she's doing that right now, so don't get your panties in a bunch," Rat replied with a snort. He directed his next words to Deles, "How's 'Sael taking this? I don't recall her being a very... motherly sort the last time her eggs hatched."

Marcyl & Telluria getting some food, Telluria preening about Brahmut's compliment, reacting to Almirsael's nose-butt

Telluria had taken no time in directing her partner's hands toward interesting-looking food and was daintily picking at a large slide of melon so she'd not get sticky juice all over her face (though the same could not be said of Marcyl's shirt). A pile of vegetables and fruits lay on the plate in Marcyl's hands as the girl watched her dragon eat. She cared little for the pain in her arm and the crick that was quickly forming in her neck, her attention focused upon the shimmering little Crystal dragon at her first meal.

Her mind was still in a state of bliss at what Fate had dealt her, so when a deeper voice spoke up nearby, Marcyl jumped. A small tomato rolled off the plate and onto the floor and Telluria's claws dug into her skin a touch, causing her rider to wince. "Why thank you," the Crystal replied, dropping the melon husk on the floor and fluttering her delicate wings. She let out a warble of joy and puffed out her tiny chest. "You are handsome, yourself," she continued, pulling herself forward so that she was more-or-less settled upon Marcyl's right shoulder.

"Her name is Telluria," the girl piped in, drawing a slight scowl from the tiny Crystal dragon.

"Yes, I was getting to that," Telluria said, turning back to the earth. "What is your name?" she asked, curious. "You certainly look large and formidable."

Just then a nudge at Marcyl's shoulder caused the girl to flinch yet again. She turned her face find the enormous copper dragoness one again prodding her with her comparatively large muzzle. "Ah!" She yelped, her exclamation cut off when tiny claws pricked at her skin momentarily.

"It's just my mother, Celestial tailfeathers, Marcyl," Telluria grunted, shooting the girl an even darker scowl. "You need to stop being so jumpy or I might just fall off one of these times." She raised herself from her belly and stood on four delicate feet so that she could press her nose against that of Almirsael's. "Hello," she said, a touch of childish joy in her voice now that she wasn't reprimanding her rider.

Eyse & Agnir, starting their observations with Michiru and Audere;

So many stunningly unique hatchlings had graced the sands with their arrival that it was hard for Eyse to know where to begin. Banquets, as a rule, were social events, and while Eyse would've preferred to speak with the newly-bonded on an individual basis (in the privacy of his lab), the feast in their honor presented a chance to begin studying them sooner. Being young, they'd grow quickly and there was no telling how much they'd change in a few short weeks. Eyse wanted to begin the process of documenting their physiological growth... well, at the beginning. It just wouldn't be good science any other way. Also, getting their riders to meet him at a later date might be difficult given their rigorous training schedules. Tonight they'd be readily available and their newborn dragons were still fresh out of the shell...

... and Agnir really wanted to play with them, besides.

The fire bounded into the feast with his usual brand of enthusiasm, looking quite like an overgrown, oddly bouncy snake. "Oh look! There's a lot of people here already! They're all so busy eating and talking, though. Do you think any of them will stop and talk with us? Or play? I'm more worried about the playing."

"Ah, don't you worry, despite what you might've heard, I'm something of an expert at parties," Eyse replied.

It was a lie. He was as poorly equipped to handle parties as he was to be a blacksmith; he lacked the natural ability as well as the practical training, and any attempt to compensate for this with his good looks and charm would probably end in disaster. Still, he had a real knack for social entrapment. If he could get one of them talking, they'd be there for some time. The trouble was that most of the new wyrmlings who were gathered were already engaged in conversation with someone else, and Eyse was a great many things, but he was not rude. He wasn't going to interrupt someone else's good time, even for the purpose of furthering scientific discovery.

A quick glance around him confirmed it; almost none of them were without conversation partners. As far as he could see--and it wasn't far in this large crowd--there were no opportunities to insert himself socially. Lucky for him, Agnir was quite a bit taller than he was and could thusly see the entire scene much better.

"See anything up there, big fellow?" He asked.

Agnir giggled softly. "There's a pretty little air hatchling currently without a playmate."

"Fantastic! Brilliant! We'll start there!" Eyse exclaimed. "Lead the way, you great big lizard!"

For some time, Eyse had wondered how he'd managed to make his way through a crowd prior to obtaining a dragon. Once he'd bonded to the fire-breed, people cleared out of his path in a heartbeat. Someone had told him once that it was because Agnir tended to expell thick smoke from his nostrils when excited, but he liked to think that they moved aside out of respect. After all, he was a dragonrider, and Agnir was a prime example of a Sekkain dragon. Regardless, moving through this crowd was a simple task, and Eyse could always just pretend not to notice the twin wisps of black rising out of Agnir's nose.

"Well hallo!" Eyse said to the air's rider. "Nice dragon you've got there, if you don't mind me saying, but why would you? She's lovely, she is. Perfect example of her breed, great colors--love the red, myself--and nice healthy feathering. What's her name?"

Belatedly, he remembered to extend a hand in greeting. "Welcome to life with dragons, I'm Eyse Hamiil, scholar and biologist. Glad to meet you, so happy you found a dragon and all that. Now, what was I asking? Oh yes, a name! What was it you said her name was? Or didn't you? I can't recall. Busy day."

Agnir chuckled at his human's behavior and turned his attention to the little air. "I'm Agnir, Eyse's partner. Listen, I know you're busy, but I haven't been able to play with anyone in ages with the war going on, and I was wondering... well, would you like to play with me?"

Thyla and Savitr to Talula & Elysium...and *gasp* Savitr using his power for good yet mischievous means

Thyla smiled at Talula
"Thank you....though I admit you two are off to a better foot that we are" She said looking at Savitr.
This again irked the young Gravity. He still simply didn't get why she wasn't fawning all over him. Yes his mother was a psycho but that was hardly his fault....Surely she didn't hold that against him? Again he wish he didn't absolutely have to have a rider...not that he "disliked" Thyla but lords this girl was difficult!

"And you think I'M the negative one?" He snorted angrily

"Well gee I'm sorry but the tone you took with me when you first hatched was hardly welcoming or happy"

"Ok YOU try fighting your way out of an egg and see what kind of mood you are in" He retorted

"Elysium seems pretty positive" She said with a smile. Savitr glared at her. She had bested him yet again. he was growing very tired of being on the loosing end of an argument...

Savitr looked again at Elysium and backed away from her at first but as she spoke he seemed to loosen up a little.
"Thanks" Me muttered "And....your horns will grow I'm sure" He said almost in a way it seemed like it was hard for him to say something nice and yet he did mean it.
He watched as she urged for him to join her on the table. he looked at Thyla with a confused unsure look. She just laughed.

"Just don't break the table. You two may be heavy" At this point Thyla was curious if Savitr knew the meaning of...or was even interested in fun

Savitr raised an eyebrow ay her
"Uh....so quickly you forget my element" With that he reached forward and touched his nose to Elysium and shifted her gravity so she would be much lighter. With that he hopped onto the table and helped himself to another meat platter

"Hey that is NOT what I meant for you to do!" Thyla shouted

((LOL Have fun with that Chirp! wink.gif))

Smallfire and Rynn greeting Atinee and Mafic ( somewhere in this post...)

The Fire's bulk moved through the dimly light halls with purpose, her minds eyes set on the form of her hatchling's obsidian scales and the fiery tones beneath, her feet moving mindlessly along the familiar route to the Banquet Hall, her bonded trailing behind. So focused was she that Smallfire hardly noticed the rain on her scales between those few intervals into the open or the fury of the storm above that smothered the sky and stars at this late hour. Even if the world was plunged into eternal darkness the fire dragoness would find a way to see her son at least one more time. She had too, at least once more, if just to slay a nagging urge. Dragon relationships weren't like humans were the young were raised for years under the protection of the parents. No, hatchlings were independent right from the moment they drew there first breath and this Smallfire accepted as in was in the nature of their kind. Still the brief moment had at Mafic's hatching was far too short to satisfy the Fire. Too many questions still lingered in her mind, milling over arbitrary things and deeper thoughts. Was this perhaps how her father felt when she and her brothers had left his side? A brief smiled curled at her lips at the memory of the Metal before withering away at the return of her brooding thoughts.

Even now Smallfire was unsure how she felt about Mafic. There was both joy and sorrow mixing in her heart....and a little bit of fear and anger as well. Joy of bringing life into the world, sorrow of seeing it leave her. Anger of its parentage and fear of what it may become. Knowing the sire of her hatchling was a Tainted still bled like a fresh wound and soured her mood greatly with her inability to forgive herself for taking such a being to consort. The warrior within her demanded retribution for this trespass of pride despite such a union being common during the Great War. No one would fault her for it yet the Fire felt the unseen stares crawl beneath her plated scales, biting into her flesh like frost.

Yet she could not bring herself to hate her child, nor could she ever. If rumors be true she herself was part Tainted, she and her brothers the get of a mad dragoness that abandoned them to fate on the day they were clutched. But then these days were different then the ones she came into now that Nidhogg was captured, his control broken by the Hybrids, thus spelling the end of the Great War. So said the many anyway. Whispers spoke of a new rebellion building on the Desolation, the last true remnants of the Tainted army rising under a new leader, a Sheath named Augari of the Toxic breed and her rider Lascarial. Having participated in the Flights and become egg-heavy as a result Smallfire had to take leave of her duties as a Horn but the Fire intended to request a break from her Wing and return to the stone fortress of Iyalruke as a sentry as soon as she was able after persuading Rynn to leave the Academy.

Passing through another threshold into the open the rain was coming down in sheets but the Fire cared not and limbered on, becoming effectively drenched in a matter of moments and rather welcoming the coolness of the skywater as it threaded between her scales, cleaning away weeks worth of sand grains jammed beneath them that the attendants never quite got.

Suddenly a fork of lighting split across the sky, washing the academy and its surroundings in a brilliant light, immediately followed by a rolling crash that was almost deafening with the closeness of the walls.

"Holy Celestial tail-feathers that was a close one," said Rynn, holding a hand to her chest from fright. "Aww man, and my ears are ringing too. How annoying..." she mumbled after a moment, twisting a finger in one ear lope as if that would help her case. Being underneath Smallfire for protection from the rain Rynn could hear the great Fire's chest expand in a heavy breath and saw the mist of her breath trailing in the air as she released it slowly before continuing onward like nothing had disturbed her travel. Somehow an impression of wariness came through that through the bond and while she tried to register why she was already falling behind the dragoness and becoming exposed to the rain and had to quickly sprint to catch up with the Fires long strides, making her regret not asking for a ride. By nature the women's steps were tiny, even for people, and keeping up with a dragon ten times larger then herself was a task that was quickly making her breathless but Rynn could feel Smallfire wasn't up to being bothered with small things at the moment and it didn't take a Bond to notice that. She wanted to see Mafic and Rynn couldn't blame her.

At his hatching Rynn had been overjoyed and in awe of the Lava's sleek appearance, jet black even though he appeared so strange when compared to Smallfire. Since her Flight the Fire had spoken very little of the Earth that had won it and every time it'd been cryptic and grudgingly said. He was a mountain made flesh, a golem of stone with a world on his back. That and little more Rynn knew about the Earth. Perhaps his name was mentioned once but she could not recall what it was. Smallfire simply did not speak of the Tainted who sired her son. Yes, Rynn knew he was a Tainted, the signs were all too clear. Smallfire, for all her pride and honor, would not act this way were it otherwise. Since the start the Fire had always spurned defeat and to have her first Flight won by her enemy was the ultimate insult and still the memory burned as fresh as a heartbeat ago. And in that Rynn felt sorry for her bonded.

Yet she loved her son as any mother would, Rynn was certain of it.

A change in light and sound brought Rynn back into herself suddenly and she was surprised to see that they were just outside of the Banquet Hall. The scent of innumerable courses of food was intoxicating and made her mouth water just as it excited her senses. They always made the best of things at the Hatching and at this late hour the sweets would be even more indulgent then usual.

Looking up, Rynn saw Smallfire peering into the depths of the Hall, searching but hesitant for once, with trails of steams drifting lazily off her crimson scales as she dried. Knocking a hand against one of Smallfire's legs to get the dragoness's attention Rynn said." Just don't forget to smile, okay? You do want to see Mafic and his newly bonded right? Well, unless you're suddenly in love with this door, I do hope you intend to go in to see them because staring at a distance won't bring them any closer."

At that the Fire laughed sheepishly with a grin as wide as a cheshire's, cringing just like a kid who'd been caught trying to steal a cookie from the cookie jar. " Of course," was her simple reply as she took a step forward into the Hall. It wasn't hard to spot Mafic in the crowd among the wrymlings, cheerfully eating beside his bonded. The girl was unfamiliar to Smallfire as she did not come to her nest at the Touching, but no matter. Faith must be had in her child's choice. She approached them as calm and gently as she could and succeeded well in that endeavor, drawing next to them respectfully with a bow to greet them.

" I pray you forgive my intrusion, I only wish to make this a brief meeting to you who has bonded to my child...and to see my son. I welcome and congratulate you both. You have the honor to know that my name is Smallfire."

"And that mine is Rynn." called the young women as she came from behind, walking a few paces before executing a small bow of her own to first the girl, then Mafic. Once Smallfire had sighted the new wrymling pair she had made the longest strides ever known to dragon-kind, effectively leaving her behind again for the second time tonight, yet it wouldn't have done any good to have rushed back to her place.

Seeing Mafic so close was provoking tears of joy to Rynn's eyes, because in a way he was her child too, but she stubbornly refused them to fall for composers sake. And suddenly gushing over with affection was generally frowned upon before aquintence was made.

"It is a wonderful feeling to bond is it not?" she said, looking at the other girl." Yet so surreal, no?" Habitally Rynn brushed her fingers across the surface of her crystal, which hung on a simple necklace reinforced with glided gold and red copper Academy steel to accent the amber likeness of the crystal.

Azazel and Astraea entering. The girl anxious due to the large crowds with the Forest dragonette considering the different fruits. Open to interactions~

The scent and feel of the rain upon her body. Trailing along her bark-scaled back and drenching her grey mane and tail until they hung darkly across her form. For a while the two had traipsed through the cascade side-by-side, until Astraea had realized just how difficult it could be to navigate the wet terrain without sight. It had not bothered her within the dry safety of the hatching grounds, but now, out here in the wind and the storm, she struggled. The scents were mingled, mixed and battered by the falling droplets; the sounds little but the loud pattering of rain upon the ground. She had glanced to the girl that travelled alongside her, her ears swivelling in the same direction, then edged closer. The footsteps of her bonded were evident, even amidst the clamour that reverberated around them. Using that as her anchor, she moved ever closer, then abruptly grabbed hold of Azel's trouser leg and clambered up to rest upon her head.

Azazel almost cried out, until she realized that it was her newly bonded Forest that dropped her chin against the crown of her head. She could feel her dainty feet pressing against her shoulders, and was surprised at how light the hatchling was. "I apologize, but I'll need to rely on you to direct me. I'm afraid I cannot find my way in this weather." Azel didn't reply. Although, she gave a slight nod to indicate she'd heard. However, as she continued to walk on in silence, a thought suddenly occurred to her. "... Can't you see?"

"No," came the prompt reply. "But, I don't think that will be a problem in the future. Storms will be my only enemy, I think." She made a sound almost akin to a purr, felt more through vibrations than heard, due to the raging storm. A fork of lightning lit up the sky, followed by a loud rumble that made the sound of the cascading rain pale in comparison to its noise. Astraea's ears flattened against her skull, rising again only when the remnants of the crash faded away. "I wonder how long this storm will last?" she murmured.

Azazel was following the crowd. They marched across the land in pair's, making their way forwards toward the banquet hall. Preferring to eat alone, Azel had never been one to frequently visit it. From here, she could see a warm light. It seemed almost welcoming; through the sheet of rain. Soon, the girl and the dragonette were safe from the shower. They stepped inside the banquet hall and were immediately assaulted by a mass of sights, sounds and smells, or rather in the case of Astraea, the sounds and smells of the newly bonded candidates and the mouth-watering food. She lowered herself carefully from her own bonded's shoulders and followed the trail of the feast's scent. Azazel tagged along after, glancing around warily.

There was an immense crowd of people and dragon-children alike, even elder riders and their dragons had started to arrive, mingling with the newly bonded young ones. It was too much. She couldn't bear the noise and the jostling. She quickened the pace.

Astraea however, was doing fine. She dodged and evaded the feet of many with ease, then hopped onto a nearby unoccupied chair and onto the table. She sniffed, taking in the varying scents of fruit and meat. Azazel had come to a stop close to her as she reached out and grasped hold of an orange. She turned it over in her hands, feeling the surface of it, then lowered her head to take a sniff of it, before taking a bite. Disliking the taste of the fruit's outer layer, she peeled it off in her teeth, dropping it into her hand, then placing it onto the table in turn. "The journey through the storm must have increased my appetite," she said, biting into the orange with gusto. "This is nice. I wonder what it is?"

"It's an orange," Azel replied, watching her curiously. "A kind of fruit."

"Ah, I know what they are." Astraea twirled an ear in Azel's direction. "I heard mention of them whilst in my egg."

"Really? You can remember stuff like that?" Azazel asked, her intrigue getting the better of her. She sat, resting her arms against the table.

"Well, some things I can. Not all. Possibly I learnt of their name from my parents."

Even though the dark-haired girl chatted casually with her newly bonded dragonette, she was extremely wary. She felt truly uncomfortable in this crowd, and not just that, but her connection with the Forest allowed her to feel the hunger that clawed at the hatchling's insides. How she remained so talkative, despite her predicament, she didn't know. However, Astraea had mentioned her hunger not long after they had been out in the rain. Azazel sighed and leaned forward, resting her head on her folded arms, whilst the grey-maned dragonette helped herself to some more fruit.

Almirsael and Deles chillin' with their boys

Almirsael chuckled. "Hello, daughter. Don't mind Liian and I. You just focus on getting fed for now," the copper replied to Telluria. It certainly wasn't any kind of gushing maternal speech, but the fact that Almirsael was taking an interest in her child at all now that she was hatched was something new and exciting, as such things went. She hadn't said anything about it to Liian, but she knew that her chaos mate had taken a much deeper interest in their children of late. Most of the reason she was showing an interest now was for his sake more than the newborn crystal wyrmling. But she was content to simply sit back and watch as her daughter and the girl she'd chosen interacted with one another.

Playfully, the copper dragon nipped at her mate. "I do a wonderful job at anything I set my mind to, and you know it," she informed him with a snort. "So don't act so surprised. Besides, I was barely involved, so that must mean I did a wonderful job of doing nothing."

Smiling and shaking his head nearby, Deles replied, "Yes, she does have an attitude. Remind you of anyone?" He raised one very expressive eyebrow at his mate, making it very obvious exactly who he was talking about. He didn't really make a habit of ribbing or poking at the other man, but every once in a while he felt compelled to point out that Rat wasn't exactly Mr. Sunshine and Roses and Puppydog Tails. It was his gentle way of reminding the other man that yes, terrible things had happened to him in the past, but that didn't mean he had to be dark and angry and sarcastic about everything in the world now.

Then the former prostitute shrugged philosophically and leaned in a little closer to Rat's ear, as if about to impart some secret. "To be honest, I think she knows Liian is interested and she's willing to express an interest too if it makes him happy." This time, Deles chose not to point out that he did similar things on a constant basis for his own mate. Like dragon, like rider. The two of them were almost supernaturally good at handling their chosen partners, and at knowing when to push and when to stand back and let them figure things out for themselves. Deles didn't think about it most of the time, but whenever he did, he couldn't help but wonder how they essentially managed to dance through an emotional minefield on a daily basis and not lose any limbs.

He couldn't help but wonder how long they'd be able to keep it up, either.

To Telluria, Marcyl and Almirsael

Bowl empty, the young Earth seemed disdained for a moment and lowered his head to investigate it with his snout, swinging his head around and nearly bowling Vulkyra out of the chair she had taken up. “Oh! Sorry love. I didn’t meant to knock you for one.” He said quickly, scooching closer to her to be sure she was quite alright. She seemed to be, his attention quickly shifted as a voice much like the chime of bells responded to his initial greeting. He twisted back around as Vulkyra shifted to steady herself back in her seat, though she wasn’t quite as thrilled about it as he was. The other girl was hurt and seemed afraid of everything. How stable of a dragon rider could she really be with a personality like that? But she wasn’t much to judge she supposed, rising to her feet and fetching another bowl of meat for Brahmut.

Brahmut was pleased with the response garnered from Telluria and cocked his chin up with a small well of pride as she complimented him for being handsome. He wasn’t too bad looking, certainly! The thick jagged scales upon his body thistled slightly as he warbled when Marcyl spoke Telluria’s name. “It is as lovely a name as you yourself!” his tongue snaked from his mouth to cleanse his lips of what blood may have been dripping there before he spoke again “I am Brahmut. It is a pleasure!” he then craned his head downward and tilted it a bit to the side to properly observe himself at her comment. He was quite the brute, after all, though he hadn’t taken much time in the short while he was alive to actually observe himself.

Vulkyra had returned with more meat but had remained more or less quiet through the beginnings of the conversation, concentrating deeply on the sound of Brahmut’s voice and the way his words carried. There was a certain air of wonder and bliss about her as she watched the interaction. “Formidable… that’s a great description.” She chimed in, propping her chin on her open palm. “I am Vulkyra.” She introduced though she hadn’t been asked, taking into consideration how jumpy Marcyl clearly was. Her eyes lifted to Almirsael as the Copper dragoness spooked the other girl again and couldn’t help but snicker a little. “I don’t think she’ll bite you. Honest.” She said though she meant it jokingly as Brahmut’s attention followed where Telluria’s went and allowing a ‘Hello!’ of his own to join shortly after hers.

Alix turning in for the night, and Ammit to Katare and Llachar

The worn and weary Earth pair lagged behind everyone else as all of the newly Bonded pairs, Spectators, and parents poured out of the Hatching Grounds to go and attend the Feast in the new riders honors. The pair, Alix in particular, hardly said a word as they traversed the halls they knew like the back of their hands. As she sat in her rightful place, atop her Bonded's shoulders, Alix stared down at her crystal as she absently rubbed a thumb over the immaculate surface. It... almost felt alien to have it back in her hands after it had been gone for so many months. She had almost gotten used to the feeling of the greatly weakened Bond. A sigh passed through her lips as she gripped a handful of Ammit's mane. It felt good to be whole again. The feeling was something, like most things about being Bonded to a dragon, that she knew she wouldn't be able to fully express with words. She was happy to have her crystal back, to feel the weight of it in her hands again.

But that was really a handful of things she was happy about at that moment. She was happy for Ammit, for her children, and for her friends that had Bonded. But other than that, in light of the celebrations, she was angry. She was very angry, and sad, and she felt like an idiot, but above all she was hurt. She tried to hide it, a thing that would have been easy a few days ago but was now impossible with the presence of her crystal, and Ammit felt it. The feeling that her rider was masking something. Slowing her pace she glanced over her shoulder to peek at the girl. “What's wrong Alix?” Shaking her head rider said, “Nothing's wr-”, but Ammit cut her off with a short huff. “Don't give me that lame excuse! I'm tired of not knowing what you're feeling. What kind of pair would we be if we could not tell each other these things? What kind of example would that set for the wyrmlings? Now tell me what's wrong.” The Earth ordered. As usual the girl found herself crumpling at the force of Ammit's verbal assault. “I feel stupid?” She began. “I feel stupid because I let that... witch in”, she said, having stopped herself from using something worse. “I'm angry because she had blinded me with that little meek act!” With that she gripped her crystal tighter.

“Do not forget that she fooled not just you but many others.” The Earth offered as she continued at her easy pace. She was in no rush to get to her children. She would have time to see them; for now her rider needed her. “I know... but I feel like the biggest idiot of them all. I actually considered her a friend once. And tonight I found out that she framed Striker for her crimes, injured him, and then pulls a knife on me. Oh and we can't forget her trying to harm the Celestial and his rider.” Finding no proper answer for her Chosen Ammit remained silent. “Gods you think you know someone...”, the Earth rider sighed after a moment. “Alix...” Turning her head away the girl stayed silent for a bit. She raised a hand to her lips as a small sigh escaped. “Hey Ammit, can you drop me off at our room? I think I'm gonna turn in for the night”, the girl said wearily. “Are you sure you want to do that?” Patting the maned neck she said, “Yeah I'm sure. I'm sure. I'm tired, in more ways than one. Plus I don't want to rain on anyone's parade with my mood, you go have fun and see your children.” With that the girl smiled as Ammit kneeled to let her down. She climbed down the blond mane with practiced ease. Opening her arms in a gesture she embraced the gargantuan nose and hugged. Her arms barely wrapped around the crocodilian snout but she didn't care. “See you in the morning. I'll probably be asleep when you get done with all the festivities.” Leaving it at that the Earth rider walked into her room and then closed the door behind her.

Rumbling lowly the Earth mother set out for her destination. She sighed as she walked past other dragons who were also headed the same way she was. She should be happy. She had two children who now had riders of their own! A handsome Glass son like her mate and a beautiful Earth daughter like herself. Despite that however she couldn't just push away what her rider was feeling. Alix's feelings were her feelings after all. But somewhere, deep down there through all of the hurt she could feel a small twinge of happiness. She held onto that twinge as she entered the Dining Hall.

Immediately she was greeted with the sights and sounds of the Academy in celebration. Dragons and riders gathered around tables filled with food and drink. A few times she had to look down to make sure that she wasn't in anyone's way. She was feeling a bit peckish but she decided to abstain as it was early in the morning and she could easily get something later on her own time. She quickly scanned the crowd for any sight of her mate or children. She didn't see Dichroic or Ubasti yet, but the one person she did see was Katare. And if that was the case then her son wouldn't be anywhere but next to her. And sure enough the gold male was sharing an orange with his Chosen. Crooning a quick greeting to the new Glass pair, the Earth female took the opportunity to sit down, making sure to cross her arms over one another and wrap her tail around her body so that no one, dragon or human, would get hurt. “So Katare!” She began with amusement in her voice. “You did it. You Bonded. And to my son no less! I wish to offer you my Congratulations and those from Alix! Llachar”, she said turning to her son, “I can personally attest to the fact that you have made a good choice. I know you two will be a good pair. Oh by the way have you seen your sister or your father around yet”, Ammit asked.

While they sat and ate, Llachar kept up a steady stream of questions and chatter, but only when he wasn't chewing. For a hatchling not even an hour old, he actually showed a fair bit of restraint after his attack on the orange, and sat with his tail curled about his feet out of the way. After a few tries, he even succeeded in sitting back on his haunches so he didn't have to eat a chunk of meat whole, but could hold it in dexterous forepaws and rip off mouthful-sized chunks.

More difficult than negotiating eating without all the mess and barbarity was dragging explanation out of his rider. It wasn't that she didn't want to talk. But around the answers, phrased very carefully and spoken slowly, he was getting the distinct hint of frustration. He didn't know what was frustrating his rider, but the more she spoke, the more frustrated she got, and finally he stopped asking her questions and talked about the weather, and the things he'd heard while he was in the egg, and other things. But the frustration didn't go away, not entirely, and when he stepped forward to look his rider in the eyes, she looked annoyed. Honestly, he was a little taken aback, and flinched a little.

Katare immediately stopped scowling when she realized, belatedly, that Llachar thought he was the source of her annoyance. She wasn't used to anyone being able to read her scowl for what it was, and she certainly wasn't used to someone being in her head.

"Sorry," she said softly. Llachar tipped his head at her and waited patiently for an explanation. When none came, he gave her a gentle prod. "I am not frustrated at you," she added. She was tired, though, and easily frustrated, and when she was tired she found it harder than usual to speak her adopted language. Especially to the extent that was required to answer Llachar's questions. After nosing a piece of the fish over to his suddenly-downcast rider, he sat back on his haunches again.

"Ah, well, that is a weight off m'mind," he answered, and when she had finished her fish, he chimed at her, that same glass-tinkling-together warble sound he'd made earlier, almost. "So what's yer difficulty, mine?" he asked, and she shook her head.

"Talking. This language, and I'm tired," she admitted with a one-shouldered shrug, and was surprised when her dragon, who'd been sitting in what she was already calling his cat pose, bounced forward to run up to her shoulder and wrap himself around the back of her neck.

"So y'do speak another tongue! I thought y'might, what with those pretty r's of your's, and that lovely lilt!" he said excitedly, and then slithered down back to the table to sit in front of her. She was blushing, because she hated the accent. But the little gold glass just shuffled his shoulders.

"My... accent?" she asked in surprise, finally, and he nodded enthusiastically. "Of course! Y'can hear mine, can y'not?" he asked, and she thought for a moment. Well, yes, of course she could hear it. But... but he also clearly had no problems with the language itself.

"Yes, but..." she started, and he put a paw on her hand to interrupt her if he could, without exactly being rude about it.

"'Yes, but' nothin'! I think it's grand. Beyond grand! That's a talent, that is, knowin' two tongues," he said insistently. Katare started to speak again, and he could tell she was about to deny something about that statement, so he kept talking hurriedly before he'd have to interrupt her again. He didn't want to interrupt her, it was terrible manners. "Could y'teach me? Jus' imagine, we could chat away and narry a soul'd know what we were sayin'. 'Course, that's a mite rude, so I don' reckon we should do't too often. But it might come in handy, it just might. Whaddya say?" he asked, and, stunned, Kat stammered for a second.

"I..er... of course," she said finally, smiling a little. Then she yawned, and glanced up as a massive Earth dragon settled herself to sit with them. The smile turned into a warm grin and Llachar trilled a happy greeting to his mother.

"'Lo, Ammit," Katare said as Llachar used her again as a climbing tree to get closer to his mother. He swept her a very graceful bow from Kat's shoulders, extending the wing that wasn't pressed to his bonded's neck and dipping his head before he straightened. "Mother! I've made the best choice, I do think. D'you know, she speaks two tongues! She's goin' t'teach me," he said to her, but shook his head in answer to her question. "Wait just a tick. I 'ave a sister?" he asked, and then added, "But I've not seen father, I'm sorry. Would y'care t'sit with me 'n mine for a bit?" he asked.

Mafic and Atinee to Smallfire and Rynn

Atinee could not stop staring at Mafic. She was aware that it was still storming outside, and that myriad other hatchlings were moving and eating around them and that even some adult dragons were present, but the young woman only had eyes for her new partner. She loved every inch of him. He was absolutely perfect, with none of the rambunctiousness of some of the first wrymlings that hatched. She was immensely relieved. As usual, the dragons were right, and he was a perfect fit for her. Yet he clearly had his own personality. The young dragon most certainly had his own pace at which he did things, she mused as she watched him laboriously pick another chunk of meat out of the bowl and swallow it with a great deal of concentration on his face. He was very careful and detail oriented, but capable of concentrating on only one thing at a time. And that was completely fine with Atinee. Whatever the dragon wanted, she would do whatever she could to make it happen.

But now that the shock of the hatching was wearing off, a serious sense of responsibility was settling on her. She was still certain that she wanted to be a dragonrider, of course, but now that it had happened, she could believe that it would. A part of her had been afraid that it would always remain a dream and she would eventually have to return to her family in Lihn. Her family! A grin spread on her face as she pictured their reactions to Mafic. Hopeless, and not a life for her, they had said. Well, she'd proved them wrong! It was not hopeless. Mafic was hers and she was his, and they were perfect together, and she was going to take care of him to the best of her abilities, and they would be the greatest partners that ever existed. Atinee had never been so decisive before, but now she knew exactly what she wanted: to be with Mafic forever.

She was focusing so much on Mafic and her thoughts that she did not notice the fire dragon approaching them until Smallfire suddenly loomed over them and started speaking. Atinee jumped, startled, but tried to hide it, coming off the bench to her feet and offering a smile. She recognized the fire dragoness immediately, of course, as the dragon who had mothered her dear Mafic, but she hadn't known her name before. The young woman moved to stand right beside Mafic, who had also lifted his head and turned to face their visitors.

Atinee bowed deeply, to both the dragon and her rider. "You are more than welcome here," she said. "It's an honor to meet the mother of Mafic," she addedsincerely, looking very fondly at Mafic. She gave another short bow as Rynn introduced herself and returned the favor. "I'm Atinee. Atinee Ellaren, formerly of Lihn." Mafic tilted his head to one side, taking in the sight of his mother. Before, he had been eager to find his chosen bonded and eat, but now that both needs were satisfied, he was more than content to meet his mother--quite glad, actually. "Hello, mother,", he said, also continuing to prove he was an eloquent speaker. "And hello t'you, Rynn."

Mirroring all of the adults around him, the wrymling bowed in his ponderous way. He ambled forward and sniff at his mother and nuzzle her leg, if she let him. He felt a great affection for this dragon. She was family. But he was curious about something. He had noticed that most eggs had had two adults dragons guarding them on the sands. "Mother," he started, sensing even at a young age that this was a sensitive subject, "I am very happy t'see you and t'be your kin, and thank you for tending to my egg so carefully for so long. But where is my father?"

Jay and Shi Tong interacting with Thyla, Sav, Talula and Ely

Jay smiled as the other girl said his air was handsome. He sure thought so, especially thinking of the type of owl he would represent as an older dragon. The fluffy plumage should fall away to cream and brown, sleek feathers, speckled with darker brown and cream spots. Unlike Elysium and Savitr who looked like miniature adults. He chuckled a little at Savitrs reaction to Elysiums appearance, snarling irrately and calling her a mental case. Yes, he surely did not envy Thyla. He wasn't sure he'd have the same amount of patience for someone who was a grump all the time.

Shi Tong rolled his eyes a little at her shocked reaction to his approval, waiting for her to touch him. She snuffled his feathers, before throwing her whole face into his neck. A bit awkward considering she was twice his size, but he coo'd at the feeling all the same. Then, she let go, running up and down his short length, before rubbing up against him like a cat. If he could express a smile, he would have, but he was still thrummed and coo'd happily. He didn't quite mind the attention. Jay smiled brightly as he felt the acceptance from Shi Tong.

"Quite a lil ball of excitement ain't she?" He said with a chuckle, Elysium expression her joy in many drawn out words to her bonded.

Shi Tong, looked over to Savitr, leaning on his back haunches and attempting to fix his fluff once more. Again, it proved quite useless. He watched closely, ears pricked. He wasn't sure how to take the fierce looking gravity just yet. He seemed irritable, unsociable... But perhaps he could prove to be a friend or ally... Elysium invited him up on the table, and he bobbed his head.

"Please, join us, Savitr," He said. Jays face twitched in a small smile. Good, Shi Tong was attempting to make friends on his own.

"She is very adorable," Jay agreed, watching the ice dragoness.

I can't even imagine”

"Pleasure t' meetcha both as well. And ye' havin' Rosies are very much appreciated. 'Specialy on the sands," Jay replied.

“Congratulations on bonding to you both!”

"T' you, too!" Jay said raising a glass of juice.

Shi Tong looked at Savitr and Thyla as they spoke, quietly observing. He mentioned his element, before leaping up on the table and tapping Elysium. The owl airs eyes narrowed, cocking and wondering what the gravity did to his new friend.

"What, persay, did you do to Elysium?" Shi Tong asked, not bothering to hide the wary accusatory tone.

Elysium being low gravity, Talula to Jay and Thyla

Elysium was apparently doing well to appease the grumpy gravity. Which suited her just fine. She would have been minorly put off by him rejecting her. Still even he could not resist her sweet charm and soon enough, with some help in coaxing by her new air friend Shi Tong, even Savitr was clambering up onto their table. She arched out her neck to peer off the table edge at his impressive horns, not over how massive they were already. He seemed aloof to the whole process. Too cool for them and their shenanigans. Still even that was not enough to keep her new 'best friend' off the table. He rose up to meet her and bumped her tiny little nose.

What happened next Ely couldn't quite fathom. All at once her body seemed to weigh nothing. Her little wings spread at the odd sensation to keep her ballance and quite suddenly she began to drift upwards. At first it was just her tail, lifting off the table. She looked back at it in confusion. “What you doing back there tail? I didn't tell you to go floaty come back here!” She cooed at it curiously. Then her hind legs began to follow suit. Her rump rose until it dangled slightly above her spine. Realizing she was losing traction on the table she swam her back legs down to the table again. She sprung forward, trying to grab onto anything.

Her little leap was not well planned though, as she was not used to the reduced gravity and went drifting, lazily, through the air. She blinked a few times and glanced towards the tabletop, which was now slipping lazily past about a foot or so under her. Her head swung back to Talula her expression showing her utter bafflement. Then it sunk in she might just be flying! She let out an excited giggle and spread her wings farther, giving them a good flap. Normally, at this age, that would just give her a little height to her hops, but in her current state it caused her to drift higher and glide a little longer.

She began to sink though, as gravity was only lighter and not gone all together. Her wings tucked and she pushed her feet out readying for a landing. Again she mistimed. She hung, with her legs outstretched for the ground, giggling like a mad woman, for several seconds before her excitement got the better of her. She pawed franticly at the air around her and managed to claw her way back to the table. She landed near Shi Tong and dug her bright little claws into the surface, trying to remain on the ground and she stared at Savitr in awe. “How did you do that? Can I do that?” She looked between Savitr and Talula excitedly.

Talula finally chimed in, trying her best not to fall pray to a fit of laughter at her wild, weightless antics, “No no. You get to use ice. He is a gravity dragon. He has a different power then you.”

“Oh! Oh ohohohohoh!” She beamed at Savitr now, “Well I won't turn you to ice. That wouldn't be good would it. I would be floating forever, and you would be all.... frozzzoooozzzzozen. I think I would be having more fun.” She chirped brightly.

Talula chuckled at Elysium and shook her head. The dragoness's sweetness was never going to stop amazing her, she decided. She turned her attention back to Thyla though as Elysium seemed to have sorted her problem out by clinging, cat like, to the table. “Oh well you two will sort it out I'm sure. Elysium is just so easy to get along with. Not everyone is. I mean I don't expect to immediately like all the people I meet. It has to be the same with dragons. I am sure you have more in common then you think. Why else would he have chosen you.” She glanced to Savitr, and hoped what she was saying was true. He did seem like he would be more trouble then her little ice, how much harm could one hyper active ice do after all?

When Jay raised his glass she beamed brightly and lifted her own glass, filled only with water for now, and smiled brightly, “Here's to the start of an amazing adventure!”

Savitr amused while Thyla begins to worry

Savitr swallowed a few more pieces of meat and looked at Shi Tong at his question with a calm yet amused look.
“I just shifted her gravity. I figured she’d have fun with that. If you like I can do it to you too….Granted it will probably be stronger when I am older” He now laid on the table in a catlike manner.
He didn’t show any indication of excitement in his tone but something told Thyla he was enjoying himself. At worst he was at least amused. They both watched as Elysium as she indeed enjoyed her lessoned gravity. Thyla was fully prepared to help grab the young ice if anything got out of hand as to keep her from hurting herself. For she still wished she had gotten such a happy partner.
Savitr watched Ely calmly and even allowed himself a chuckle. Although after a moment when she asked him the question of his powers as well as hers, Thyla couldn’t help but notice Savitr’s eye twitch slightly. After Talula explained to her, Savitr spoke again.

“Yes….you have a good breath weapon…All I can is change an individual’s gravity….useful in battle I guess, but I have to be close to them”
He clearly had an indication of displeasure in his tone this time. He looked at Thyla now and she could have SWORN she saw worry in his eyes! She contemplated asking him what was wrong but he blinked and looked back at the other two dragons.
Thyla shook herself back and took a glass of juice and raised it to the toast

“Yes. To new adventures indeed!”
She looked towards the entry way now and began worrying. Where were Luca and Keiro or the others? She knew Luca should be along to feed his dragon. She would not have left them if it wasn’t essential to get Savitr the hell out of the hatchling grounds….She took a sip of her drink
“You guys don’t think things got worse at the sands do you? I must admit I’m surprised there aren’t more arriving…” She had to admit she had a bad feeling in her gut. She knew nothing of the chaos Opheyla had reined yet but she certainly could feel energy from the whole ordeal. She wanted to go back and make sure all was well but she needed to stay with Savitr….it was strange! Now if she went to far from him she felt a “pull” urging her back to him. She had heard of this but also heard that as they grew it was easier to go apart as they pleased.

Savitr was also noticing the others who had made it. He had to admit now he didn’t fully object to socializing. He had enjoyed showing Elysium a glimpse of his ability and even her enthusiastic reaction. And Shi Tong seemed a reasonable sort. He doubted the Air would ever push his buttons. He just hoped the others were tolerable. That water of Leeran’s was trouble though, that he could tell. But it would be hell even bothering to try keeping Thyla way from the boy. Plus he didn’t dislike Leeran…
He sighed and hopped back down from the table. He could sense Thyla’s worry. As his nature his attempt at comfort didn’t exactly have the desired result
“Perhaps my mother ate them” He said coldly
